Warhammer 40: Doom
Chapter 319 Do you agree?
Chapter 319 Do you agree?
The Star God—Margh Radros. In the legends of intelligent beings, He is called: Void Dragon, Dragon. He is one of the most powerful individuals among the Star Gods.
Legend has it that among the great Star Gods, the Nightbringers are compared to the Void Dragons, and it remains to be seen who is stronger.
They represent different realms; the former is the embodiment of death and fear, while the latter symbolizes annihilation, wanton destruction, and devastation.
As the master of the material realm, the Void Dragon's legions are invincible.
But His true terror lies not in force, but in His boundless creativity—He can infinitely enhance technological productivity and infinitely increase the intensity of war.
In the descriptions of the Old Ones, the attitude towards the Nightbringers was one of fear, and when the Void Dragons were mentioned, they were even more terrified.
Towards the end of the War of Heaven, thanks to the Void Dragons' unrestrained generosity, the Necromancers of the Space reached the pinnacle of the material universe in terms of technology.
In order to completely sever the connection between the Old Ones and the Warp, the Void Dragons created the "Blackrock," a creation that completely isolates the real and illusory realms.
Without the power of the subspace, the ancient saints would find it difficult to contend with the gods of physical laws, and their defeat was foreseeable.
With the defeat of the ancient saints, the Star Gods, having lost their great external enemy, began to split and wage civil war under the instigation of those with ulterior motives.
Towards the end of the civil war, the weary Star Gods were betrayed, and the Necromancers of the Space shattered their former masters into pieces.
Interestingly, during Prima's conversation with Doom, the ancient remnants mentioned a point of view.
It believes that the war of the space necromancers against the star gods is a continuation of the war between the star gods.
The Star Gods are absolute beings in the material realm. How can the cosmic necromancers, as their servants, defeat them in the physical universe?
What allowed the Necromancers to triumph was the technology provided by the Void Dragons!
Perhaps even the gods did not expect that their lowly servants would dare to betray them and then use the power they had bestowed upon them to turn against them.
In the later stages of the war against the gods, the physical existence of the Star God was shattered into pieces and tragically sealed away by the undead of space.
Some star gods, seeing that defeat was inevitable, left the battlefield in advance.
The gods have lost their dignity and, like rats, are hiding in the universe, fleeing the pursuit of their former servants, waiting for the right time to return.
The figure that Doom saw, shrouded in green light and seated on the imprisoned throne, was a fragment of the Void Dragon that had been lost in the universe and sealed away by the Emperor.
His lead-gray body was forged by the undead of space to carry the will of the gods and allow their great power to descend upon the human world.
However, the broad chest of the god bears a grid-like wound, as if data has been broken, indicating that He still has shortcomings and is no longer a complete god.
"Well……"
A long sigh echoed in the void, and the god on the throne stirred, sitting upright and facing the crowd.
He straightened his slightly drooping head, as if he had been disturbed from his sleep and was waking up to look at the uninvited guest.
Doom felt as if he were being pierced by a "gaze"—from high dimensions to low dimensions, from the macroscopic picture of the human race to the microscopic world constructed by cells, leaving him nowhere to hide.
Everything is laid bare before the eyes of the gods.
"Human beings, ancient sages."
A divine voice rang out, blank and rigid, so cold it froze the air, so ethereal it seemed about to drift away.
“Saint George, now you call yourself the Emperor?” Radros’s stiff voice echoed within the cube: “How interesting, you’ve built an empire.”
The emperor remained unmoved, instead sheathing his sword and quietly gazing at the star god on his throne.
"Doom Norwick, your created son, King of Warriors, whose destiny is ever-changing..."
Doom raised an eyebrow, wondering how the Void Dragon had obtained his information.
“Constantine Waldo, you have made him indestructible and placed high hopes on him.”
The Imperial Guards remained silent, gripping the Spear of the Sun God tightly, their resolute gazes unwavering.
“Sintra…” He paused, seemingly somewhat surprised, “An ancient saint, a remnant of the old world, dares to appear before me.”
Sintra was startled and quickly shrank behind the Emperor before daring to peek at the Star God with half her face showing.
Radros seemed to be half asleep, turning his head and glancing over each person, recounting their name and background.
Doom was deeply surprised. He had not expected that the Void Dragon would not be angry or frenzied, but instead would be surprisingly calm.
The god withdrew his gaze and focused his attention back on Doom, uttering two names: "Nyadrasa, Azagorod."
"Fragments of the madman, the scythe of death." "How interesting."
As He marveled, His enormous body stretched out, causing the space to tremble. Despite the constraints of the hyperdimensional space, He could still move freely, and His seemingly ordinary movements possessed the power to shake the world.
The Star God saw through everything; His rationality and coldness surprised Doom. This confrontation with the god was beyond his imagination.
He felt that the Star God should be angry, his dignity had been knocked down, and he had suffered the humiliation of being imprisoned. When he saw his captors, the God would not hesitate to unleash his fury.
"Do you think I should be angry?"
A voice echoed from the void, filled with cold disdain: "Unlike my other brothers, I don't vent my emotions all the time. I see the world differently."
Doom looked serious and silently raised his shield saw. He hated the feeling of being seen through, of having no secrets or privacy.
“Don’t be nervous,” the Void Dragon said, pointing his hand from his throne at Doom. “I know your origins and intentions from the steel memories of your armor, not from your heart.”
"Don't use human-like thinking to define us gods. I have never felt anger or hatred, just a little bored."
"To me, you are but a fleeting fragment in the eternal universe. Why should I waste eternity to remember a hatred that vanishes in an instant?"
The Void Dragon sits high above, interpreting the world from a divine perspective; its slightly raised chin reveals its disdain for life and civilization.
Even the most long-lived ancient sages in the vast universe eventually reach the end of their lives; only the star gods and the universe endure forever.
Humanity's history spans only tens of thousands of years. The emperor's imprisonment, in the eyes of the Void Dragon, is nothing more than a rest during a long journey, and also a god's alternative experience of the universe.
“Now that you know why we’re here,” Doom stepped forward, facing the Void Dragon avatar directly, his gaze sharp, his tone colder than that of a god: “Do you agree?”
He never had a good impression of any deity, so naturally he wouldn't give them a pleasant look.
"Ah."
The deity chuckled, shook its head without answering, and gestured with its index finger to wait a moment.
With a flick of his chain-bound gray fingers, two of Doom's shoulder armor plates peeled off, reflecting a ghastly green light.
Doom tried to stop him, but the Emperor raised his arm to stop him.
He nodded slightly, indicating that everyone should remain calm.
The shoulder armor hovered in the void, trembling as if it were alive, dissolving in the green light. The atoms were reshaped into a mercury-like liquid, and finally reconstructed into a naked human form.
The silver-gray humanoid had a refined and scholarly appearance. His body was like that of a normal human, and he looked at the crowd with a stiff smile.
"Young man, don't be hasty. Let me greet my old friend first, and then I'll consider whether I should help you."
A mechanical smile played on the lips of the silver-gray humanoid figure.
The sound was no longer majestic, but carried a harsh, metallic scraping quality.
"........."
Under Doom's unfriendly gaze, he shifted his silver-grey eyes, walked straight to the Emperor, and his face showed mockery and sarcasm. Hissed as he roared, his form sculpted from liquid metal:
"It's unbelievable that the once cheerful, lively, optimistic and positive man is now exhausted and looks like he has a lot of bitterness and resentment."
"Humanity is suffering all kinds of hardships, and you have to step forward and take responsibility. You no longer play the role of a hero or guide, but choose to become a dictator."
The emperor's face was stiff as he looked down at the avatar of the star god, squeezing out four words through gritted teeth: "None of your business."
“Tsk~tsk~tsk~”
"Of course it has nothing to do with me." He clicked his tongue and shook his head, a mocking smile always on his face: "I'm just very curious, how much longer can you extend the life of the human race by sacrificing everything?"
"Perhaps when this cage collapses and I am freed, I will only be able to stand on the ashes of humanity and recall your painful appearance."
"Humanity is immortal." The Emperor's knuckles turned white, his power gauntlets hummed, and only his eyes burned with cold fire on his dark brown face.
If he hadn't needed something from the Void Dragon, he would have already punched it after hearing such curses.
"Nothing is immortal except us." The silver-gray avatar glanced contemptuously at the commander of the Imperial Guard, then lowered his finger and pointed to the small ancient saint at the Emperor's feet: "Including them."
"What are you babbling about?" Doom couldn't stand the Star God's arrogance any longer. He let out a low growl and, before anyone could react, kicked the god's avatar away.
He then turned to face the throne, raised his left hand, pointed it at the Void Dragon, and demanded sharply, "To help or not to help? Give me an answer."
