Warhammer 40: Doom
Chapter 304 You did a great job
Chapter 304 You did a great job
Doom did not recognize the patriarch, nor did he know where the gene stealers came from. There was no light of inquiry in his eyes; the person in front of him was an enemy.
He shook his arm, vibrating the Judgment Sword to shake off the bloodstains on its blade, preparing to kill the enemy leader and end the battle.
“My lord.” Obelisk broke away from the front lines and stood in front of the Father of Genetics, his deep voice filled with expectation, “Please let me finish it off.”
Doom stopped and looked down at Obelisk, the tallest of his sons, his mind racing to find the right words.
He certainly caught the expectation in that request and tried to understand his offspring's heart.
As the father of the Doom Legion's genes, Doom cherished every warrior, and his legion was not as large as the Brotherhood Legion.
Due to the scarcity of personnel, Doom equipped his offspring with the best gear, hoping to protect them on the battlefield.
Upon hearing Obelisk's request to fight, he hesitated for a moment and even considered refusing.
Doom hesitated, but Obelisk had already removed his helmet, a glint of light flashing in his tiger-like eyes.
Doom suddenly remembered how he had killed the orc special forces kid in front of Norwick to prove his strength.
As time goes by, when your genetic offspring stand before you, just like back then, you will hope for an opportunity. How should you respond to this expectation?
After a brief moment of thought, he looked up at the gene stealer and said to Obelisk, "Spare its life."
Doom did not offer any words of encouragement or warning to Obelisk about his safety; both encouragement and warnings would be outward manifestations of distrust.
He spoke succinctly, issuing instructions with unwavering confidence that his offspring would be able to accomplish the task.
The affirmation from the Father of Genetics, those words of complete trust, gave Obelisk immense encouragement. He gave a warrior's salute and turned to charge toward the alien leader.
The golden boots clanged as the Destroyer accelerated to its maximum speed, moving like a black lightning bolt through the darkness.
The chieftain's scarlet eyes narrowed into holes; his wild instincts were screaming alarms, his survival instincts howling, urging him to flee this place at once.
It realized that it had underestimated the strength of the human warriors.
He was taller and faster than a Space Marine, charging forward with the force of thunder!
In a fraction of a second, the chieftain tensed every nerve in his body, unleashing all his bodily functions to capture the ghostly figure of the human warrior.
Unfortunately, what it saw as a return was a series of fragmented images.
The Hive's will, formed by gathering the genes of countless organisms and hatching them to serve as vanguards acting independently, was surprisingly slower than humans in its reactions.
The chieftain's eyes, capable of tracking bullet trajectories and possessing extraordinary dynamic vision, now resembled a low-frame-rate camera, watching the humans charge in intermittently.
It clearly recognized the gap in strength and felt the urge to retreat, but its body was unable to react.
As an extension of the hive's will, gene stealers are adept at lurking behind enemy lines. They are skilled at sensing and exploiting changes in the emotions of intelligent beings.
But now, as the clan leader, it cannot sense the emotional changes of those nearby.
He was like a towering mountain, silently crushing down on me, without joy, pity, or anger.
Only pure and cold killing intent locked onto him, unstoppable and inviolable!
In the blink of an eye, the human warrior seemed to teleport, covering a distance of a hundred meters in half a second, and before he could react, he had already swung down the long spear blade.
Driven by an instinct to cope with the crisis and the primal survival instinct ingrained in their genes, the patriarch subconsciously raised his claws to parry the enemy's blades.
No! We can't stop it!
Once the conscious mind reacts, no action can be performed.
The unbreakable, single-molecule claws, capable of withstanding disintegration weapons, sliced through the chitinous carapace that makes up the biological claws without any resistance the moment they touched the light blade, as easily as a blade sinking into water.
Obelisk swung his spear, severing the two left arms of the Genestealer Chieftain in a single strike.
The clan leader was horrified. Before the blood from his severed arm could gush out, he swung his right arm to retaliate.
Its two right arms flickered with subtle electric light, the bio-decomposition field was activated, and pale blue lightning illuminated the darkness, also reflecting the subtle movements of the human warriors.
The Obelisk shoulder cannon adjusted its angle, aiming the muzzle at the alien's two right arms, and azure cutting rays shot out.
The clan leader's eyes widened. In that brief moment, before the pain even reached his brain, all four arms were disconnected from his sensory nerves, and he lost a vital means of attack.
run!
A sharp pain shot through his arms. Ignoring the agony of the severed limbs, the chieftain's eyes widened in fear, and only one thought occupied his mind—get away from this place!
Fear is a primal instinct of living beings. It is through fear that living beings become aware of the risks and benefits, make the right choices when facing crises, and ensure their survival.
The chieftain allowed fear to overwhelm his reason. In that split second, only fear could ignite his will to survive and drive him to escape the clutches of human blades.
Obelisk remained silent, his gaze sharper than an eagle's, catching sight of the taut, strip-like muscles clenching between the gaps in the alien's chitinous armor. The alien wanted to escape!
The astute soldiers could deduce the alien's next move by observing the angle of muscle exertion.
It was too late for the spear to turn around; the alien could escape its attack range with a simple backflip.
With a lightning-fast thought, Obelisk released the spear with his left hand and slashed downwards with force in the opposite direction!
As the clan leader stared in astonishment, three four-foot-long claws shot out, their blades indistinct, slicing diagonally from right to left across his hip bone.
In the midst of the battle before it could even make a sound, it felt its muscles being severed piece by piece, its taut ligaments snapping back, and its bones dislocating and slipping as the light blades slashed past.
"唳~~~~~"
The clan chief let out a piercing scream, the first sound of the battle, which also foreshadowed its end.
Its six-meter-tall body crashed down, all four arms broken, three claw marks splitting its hips, leaving only one intact leg that slammed against the floor, pushing its body backward.
Obelisk remained silent. He then swung his left hand upwards again, smashing his iron fist into the alien's mouth.
"Uh...click..."
The patriarch's screams abruptly stopped as a pair of iron hands smashed his front teeth and stuffed them into his throat, seizing the base of his long tongue.
The sensitive tongue was gripped, and it uttered a painful choking sound. Out of biological instinct and basic structure, turbid tears streamed from its scarlet eyes.
Obelisk grunted, gripped the alien's throat and tongue, his arm veins bulged, and he suddenly pulled backward with force!
A long, thin tongue emerged from deep within the alien's throat, coiling around it like a crimson tongue and constricting the gleaming gold gauntlet.
"Crack...crack..." The clan leader tried to roar, but could not make a sound of pain as the gushing blood blocked his throat.
It was too weak to struggle, lying on its back on the floor with its head tilted to one side, its eyes vacant, and foul-smelling blood flowing from its mouth.
Obelisk raised his hand, and his long tongue, after leaving his body, continued to entwine unconsciously.
He focused his attention and noticed something amiss.
The bright red tongue has amazing stretching power. There is a fleshy opening below the tip of the tongue, which connects to the root of the tongue, where there are two pituitary glands resembling egg sacs.
He squeezed hard, and the egg sac immediately burst open, from which flowed a large number of tiny tadpole-like larval alien eggs.
The name "Alien"—Gene Stealer—immediately reveals that the tongue is a crucial organ for spreading infection.
With a frown, Obelisk stomped on the alien's last good leg, then stomped on its abdomen, making it stand up and open its mouth.
With another forceful thrust of his left arm, he shoved the alien's mouth to stop the bleeding and also pushed the long tongue back into its body.
To prevent the gene stealer from opening its mouth and causing its tongue to fall off again, a piece of steel was torn off and inserted into its lower jaw, exiting through its nostril, thus keeping its mouth closed forever.
Doom saw everything Obelisk did, and he nodded slightly, his eyes filled with joy and approval.
With the patriarch fallen and the clan leader gone, the gene thieves scattered and fled into the pipes to escape.
"My lord. I have not failed in my mission."
Obelisk, dragging the monstrous, pig-like creature, walked up to the Father of Genetics and stood ramrod straight.
"You did a great job." Doom smiled gently, reaching out to put his hand on Doom's shoulder, his affection evident in his expression.
Although the fight lasted only two seconds, he saw the entire process without missing any details.
Obelisk is calm and brave, with exceptional martial arts skills. Every decision he makes is just right, demonstrating his extremely high combat ability.
He may not be the most powerful fighter, but his combat intelligence surpasses that of many of his genetic brothers.
You did a great job...
For Obelisk, this was an extremely high recognition, causing him to straighten his back, raise his head, and punch his chest in a warrior's salute.
The father of genes and his offspring seek recognition and acceptance; these five words encapsulate and explain everything.
"Let's take a break and wait for the oracle to finish scanning before we set off again."
