Warhammer 40: Doom
Chapter 197 Space Wolves
Chapter 197 Space Wolves
The Morse system, a seemingly simple star system, carries a significance far beyond its very existence.
Randan has over five hundred capital ships, and the Empire has two Primarchs.
Doom suppressed his joy at the reunion and turned his gaze back to the star map, beginning to plan his counterattack and hunt.
A cold smile curled at the corner of his lips as he watched the Randan forces in Morse World.
The value of this Randan force has been proven; Randan cannot afford the loss of tens of thousands of elite soldiers.
"Atum, continue to pressure the enemy ground forces." Doom issued a simple command, and the Doom Soldier knew what to do.
“I will follow your instructions,” Atum replied solemnly, accepting the trust of the Father of Genetics.
Doom nodded without responding. His focus was on the fleet that Russ had brought.
The Nur First Fleet, the First Legion Fleet, and the newly arrived reinforcement fleet together comprise more than four hundred main warships.
Russ's fleet was enormous, consisting of two hundred main warships.
On the holographic map, the Space Wolf Fleet spread out like a pack of wolves, pounced on the Randan Fleet, drove it away and destroyed it, clearing a safe space.
"Wolves! Chew up the alien fleet with the 'Toothed Formation'!" Ruth roared excitedly, as he commanded the fleet's maneuvers from the Hrafinkel.
"Show my brothers your wildness, as fierce as the storm of Fenris, sweeping away any enemy in your path!"
"Awooooo~" Russ's wolf cubs responded to their father, howling as they charged upwards. They had never seen their father so excited.
After many years apart, Ruth couldn't wait to show his brother the wild warrior from Fenris.
Under the command of the Primarch, the Space Wolf Fleet dispersed, with heavy forces flanking it on both sides, like a ferocious giant wolf opening its hunting maw.
The "sharp teeth" in his mouth were woven from light spears, cannons, and torpedoes, chewing up the Ran Dan bit by bit.
The giant wolf's "throat" is where the Herafnkel swallows any enemies it misses.
Driven by the wolf pack, the Randan fleet was forced to withdraw, giving up a portion of space as a buffer zone.
While Ruth was on the move, Doom wasn't idle either.
He ordered the fleet to maintain its defensive formation, focusing intently on the star map to observe how new reinforcements and disruptors would arrive and how the battlefield would change.
As the wolf fleet drove them away, he indeed discovered something different.
The Randan fleet was too large, and its command and coordination had become cumbersome, leading to frequent errors.
Just like a healthy adult who suddenly gains hundreds of pounds of excess weight, their body will inevitably become sluggish.
"Hmph!" Doom snorted coldly and whispered, "It seems that even within the Randan fleet, there is not harmony and unity."
The existing Randan fleet could still hold its own against them to some extent by relying on its numerical superiority.
Now that reinforcements have arrived, they have become a burden for Commander Randan, causing the fleet to lose its initiative.
"Great, great!" Doom exclaimed with delight.
Ran Dan's blind reinforcement of troops ironically became the breakthrough point for his own side.
He opened the star map and began a new round of deployments. There was no reason to refuse the tempting offer from Ran Dan.
The holographic image of Ruth's fierce figure lit up as Doom deployed his battle plan.
"Doom, the wolves are driving away the aliens. What new plans do you have?" His golden eyes gleamed as he asked his brother about his next move.
Although Ruth was wild and unruly, he knew his limits and never overshadowed the main character.
His question was loaded with meaning, handing the initiative over to Doom and indicating his willingness to follow his brother's arrangements.
"You can have your fun, and I'll build an impenetrable wall." Doom looked at his brother with a smile in his eyes, and with a simple sentence, he finalized the general strategy.
Doom respected the initiative given by Ruth and was willing to believe in his brother's abilities.
Let Russ wreak havoc on the Randan fleet, hold them fast and don't let go, making it easy for the aliens to enter but difficult for them to leave.
He himself built strong walls and continued to employ attrition tactics.
"Alright~" Rus grinned, he understood his brother's plan, he just needed to fight and kill the enemy to his heart's content.
The two extraordinary Primarchs can understand each other's plans with just a simple exchange.
"Once you've eliminated the aliens, you must reward the wolf cubs!" Before closing the communication, Ruth reminded Doom once again not to forget the promised wine.
It seemed that nothing could compare to a sip of fine wine in his eyes, and he appeared to be a heavy drinker.
“Of course, the spaceship carrying fine wines and spirits is already on its way,” Doom readily agreed, reassuring his brother. For such crucial support, Russ was asking for fine wines and food, not promises or favors.
Doom will always remember this kindness.
"Just you wait and see!" Russ licked his lips, his beastly eyes flashing with anticipation.
He had heard from his brother that Nur's wine had a unique and mellow flavor, and that such a good thing was not to be missed!
“The Space Wolves’ fleet will tie down their prey; they can’t escape,” Ruth solemnly assured him, a cruel smile playing on his lips. “Unless they pay a price that satisfies the wolves.”
“I’m looking forward to seeing how the wolves perform.” Doom nodded in agreement, his words reflecting his true thoughts.
Since parting ways with Ruth, he returned to Fenris to reform the military system and reshape the culture of the legion.
Now that they've reunited, Doom is looking forward to seeing how the wolves perform.
He eagerly awaited to see how the Astartes, imbued with Fenris culture, would demonstrate their fighting prowess.
"Just you wait and see!" Ruth said mysteriously, then shut down the holographic communication.
He pulled up the corps overview—thirteen companies had been reorganized and were ready to go.
"You wolf cubs!" The Primarch's low growl echoed through the Legion's communications, a pre-battle mobilization:
"We are the wolves of Fenris, the Space Marines of the Fathers, and it is time to show our strength!"
"Doom Norwick! My closest brother, a king from the stars. Show your might, let him inspect the fangs and claws of the pack!"
Ruth's voice changed, his impassioned roar turning into sharp frost: "Warrantically trample on Randan's pride, let those despicable aliens know that humans have never been their slaves!"
"For the Father! For Ruth! For the Primarch!" The Space Wolf roared with all its might, howling excitedly.
The emperors have ingrained wolf-like loyalty and wild power in their genes; it's time to unleash it!
"This massive battle must leave its mark on the wolf pack!" The howl of the great wolf inspired the pack to advance fearlessly.
"Use wolf pack tactics to wipe out the Alien Edge Fleet!"
The entire Space Wolves fleet launched an attack, breaking out from the right flank of the Doom defense line. Under Ruth's strategic guidance, they attacked the newly reinforced Randan forces, who were still establishing a foothold.
Ruth was extremely intelligent; he carefully studied the intelligence sent by Doom, as well as various useful tactics.
They quickly organized the legion fleet into groups and launched an attack on Randan using the same wheeled attack formations.
He was more aggressive, and the Space Marines commanded by the Primarch unleashed unimaginable power.
The Space Wolves' fleet, like wolves launching an attack, probed Ran Dan's strength under the command of the alpha wolf.
They each performed their duties, constantly dividing and encircling the enemy, using wolf pack tactics to destroy the Randan warships.
The wolf pack was hunting, using light spears and macro cannons to form sharp blades, tearing at Ran Dan, this enormous, ethereal creature, and constantly weakening its prey's vitality.
Faced with the fierce attack of the wolves, Ran Dan quickly responded by sending ships to counterattack the human fleet.
Ran Dan's actions caught the attention of the two Primarchs in different locations—Ran Dan's defeat was inevitable.
Faced with the Empire's reinforcements, the alien commander's decision not to leave but to continue fighting was exactly what the Empire wanted.
The Imperial fleet is now operating with a perfectly clear command chain, and the presence of the two Primarchs has greatly boosted the fleet's morale.
Although the number of warships is insufficient, their combat power far exceeds that of the Randan fleet.
The Wild Wolves launched a fierce attack on the right flank, employing flexible and varied tactics, catching Ran Dan's reinforcements off guard.
Left with no other choice, Commander Randan had to take a risk and send a fleet of reinforcements from the battle moon.
"Good!" On the star map, Ran Dan's tactical adjustments gave Doom an opportunity.
"First Legion Fleet." He opened the Void Sky Army communication system and summoned the First Legion's fleet.
"The Void Heavenly Army is ready at any time!" The Lord of the Heavenly Army responded immediately, his excitement barely concealed. The excellent commander had a keen sense of smell and knew that the time to counterattack had come.
Doom ordered him: "You will attack from the left flank, join forces with the Space Wolves to encircle Randan, and form a pincer movement."
"To alleviate the pressure on the wolves, to put pressure on Randan's lines, and to force their fleet to refrain from arbitrary deployments."
"Understood, Primarch!"
The Lord of the Heavenly Army stood ramrod straight, knowing the importance of the action; it was a golden opportunity for the legion to avenge its previous defeat.
