Warhammer 40: Doom
Chapter 116 The Great Expedition Shining Brightly
Chapter 116 The Great Expedition Shining Brightly
Two large hands clasped together, and after careful consideration, Doom finally agreed to join the Imperial Expedition.
Faced with a common enemy—the Four Chaos Gods—they decided to unite and fight against them.
The addition of the Nur Stars signifies Doom's recognition of the Empire of Man, establishing an equal relationship between the two sides.
Now Doom agrees with the Emperor's plan and is willing to help him refine it, thereby realizing the plan to redeem all of humanity.
The relationship between the two sides has never changed, and cooperation remains equal.
Doom joined the Great Crusade and was not required to obey the Imperial War Council; the Emperor granted him a great deal of freedom.
"I have a gift for you."
After confirming the partnership, the Emperor appeared somewhat emotional and excited. He took out a rectangular box and presented it to Doom.
"What's inside?" Doom didn't accept the answer, but instead asked what was in the Emperor's Box.
The Emperor has given too much; Doom needs to consider it carefully.
Consider the relationship with his other brothers, and think about the emperor's purpose and thoughts.
"He who eats another's food is bound to him; he who takes another's money is bound to him." This proverb from ancient Terra constantly proves its value.
"Don't overthink it." The Emperor saw through Doom's concerns, opened the black carved box, and revealed the object supported by red silk inside.
The moment Doom saw it, his eyes widened, and a surge of excitement welled up inside him, as if he were seeing an old friend he had known for many years.
"Do you like it?" The Emperor naturally saw the excitement in his eyes and handed the box to Doom: "It was specially made for you. I went to great lengths to make it."
Doom stroked the contents of the box, carefully examining its texture. He did not refuse the Emperor's kindness and was very pleased with the gift: "I like it very much!"
An ancient double-barreled shotgun, it seemed to be made just for me, and I loved it dearly.
It is the original embodiment of ancient weapons, with a matchlock structure on both sides of the huge barrel, a handguard under the gun body, and the gun body and grip are made of wrought iron.
The two gun barrels have huge calibers, each as thick as a Space Marine's arm, and the barrels together are savage and domineering.
Ancient characters are engraved on the gun body, imprinted into the seemingly rough gun body, giving it a mysterious and ancient charm.
Doom held the gun in his left hand, constantly turning the gun over and over, seemingly unable to put it down.
"Grip it tight, and unleash your fury!" The Emperor raised his hand, clearly demonstrating the shotgun's extraordinary nature to Doom.
Doom gripped the shotgun tightly, imbuing it with his spirit and an indomitable will that contained endless fury.
The runes on the gun body glowed faintly, and sparks flew as the gun body, infused with fury, crackled and burned with an inextinguishable rage.
"Super shotgun! That's what I call it." The Emperor was very satisfied with the combination of the shotgun and Doom; he could almost see the man standing before him.
"It uses your anger as ammunition and possesses boundless power."
"Look at its barrel." The emperor explained the intricacies of the work to a craftsman who was introducing his prized creation.
Doom's finger rested on the trigger, twirling it in a beautiful arc before suddenly jerking it, causing the shotgun to fold down from the handle, revealing two large-caliber barrels.
His eyes lit up as two golden bullets appeared out of thin air and were loaded into the gun.
"Bullets I personally inscribed with runes!" Under Doom's questioning gaze, the Emperor's tone held a deep sense of pride: "They exist in another dimension, providing physical ammunition for devastating firepower!"
"How many bullets?" Doom operated with one hand, closing the barrel as if it were an innate skill.
"It depends on how much you want." The Emperor kept it a secret, a mysterious smile on his dark brown face.
Doom nodded in satisfaction, hung the shotgun on his belt, and wore a happy smile on his usually expressionless face.
"Want to try its power?" the Emperor kindly reminded him, noticing his eagerness.
Do you have a shooting range here?
Doom naturally wanted to test such a powerful artifact; the conquering desire in a man's bones was stirring.
"There is no firing range."
The emperor slowly shook his head, a mysterious smile on his face, and pulled a projection device from his robe: "This is more suitable for you."
Doom narrowed his eyes, looking at the Emperor's slightly smiling face, and suddenly felt that the weapon in his hand was burning hot.
The parable of Guterra once again proves its value—"He who eats another's food is bound to him; he who takes another's money is bound to him."
"Psionic Sand Lizard?"
Looking at the projection displayed by the Emperor, Doom saw a giant lizard with psychic energy shimmering within its scales, baring its fangs and claws.
"The aliens have taken over thirteen star systems, claiming them as their native territory, and are rapidly expanding outwards."
"How many men do I have? My legion is still training and replenishing." Doom coldly looked at the star field occupied by the aliens, where humans were enslaved, building magnificent palaces for them to worship gods and sacrifice living people.
"Ruth and his legion will go with you, and the Twelfth Legion's war dogs will be under your command; they are the best assault force."
“Okay.” Doom nodded and accepted the task.
Two Primarchs were in command, along with two Astartes Legions and their mortal auxiliary forces.
"I also need to draw members from the Fourth, Seventh, and Fifteenth Legions."
As he watched the constantly flashing intelligence reports, Doom's thick eyebrows furrowed slightly, understanding why the Emperor had sent two legions, plus the Primarchs.
The psychic sand lizard is no ordinary alien.
The Emperor did not immediately agree to Doom's request. Instead, he went to his desk and quickly wrote on parchment, affixing his personal seal.
"This order will be known throughout the entire human empire tomorrow."
Doom took the gift, glanced at the Emperor with surprise, and after a moment's thought, accepted it.
A highly authoritative order granted Doom "military mobilization authority," allowing him to summon any Imperial troops to support his various military operations.
Such an order was bound to cause an uproar, but Doom resolutely accepted it.
The reason is that the 21st Army Corps is too small in number. Nur's combat personnel training has just begun, and he is currently a commander without troops. He does need the cooperation of other units in combat.
Doom gave the Emperor a deep look, then strode out of the room and headed to the Sixth Legion's headquarters to discuss battle plans with Russ.
As he watched Doom leave, the Emperor couldn't help but raise his right hand and clench it tightly, making a gesture of self-encouragement.
He has gained strong external support.
As mentioned earlier, he can be more bold in executing the plan and put the Netway Project on the agenda as soon as possible.
Participating in the Great Expedition was merely icing on the cake; the Emperor's true aim was to have Doom guard the Webpath in the future.
The emperor couldn't help but hum a nameless tune as he stood before the obsidian wall, continuing to work on the detailed plans.
Doom strode forward and, upon seeing the Primarch, knelt on one knee to show respect for the bloodline of the Father of Genesis.
When he arrived at the Sixth Legion's encampment, Leman Ruth stood on a platform and addressed the Genetic Offspring who remained in Terra.
Doom stood in the shadows, quietly waiting for Russ to finish his lecture.
At this moment, Russ changed completely. His demeanor was no longer barbaric; he was like a wise king, delivering a passionate speech to his subjects.
Once the Primarch's speech had subsided, Doom appeared at just the right moment and strode toward Ruth.
Upon seeing his brother arrive, Russ's eyes flashed with a hint of surprise, but more so with understanding; he knew why Doom had come.
He had a very good impression of Doom and was willing to develop a deeper relationship with him.
Ruth felt that since he and Doom had returned to the Empire one after the other, they should learn from each other in terms of Legion integration.
He dismantled his legion into thirteen major groups, each corresponding to the culture of Fenris, in preparation for the fusion of the legion's culture with that of his homeworld.
Rename the Sixth Legion to something even more savage—Space Wolves.
Before Ruth could make a move, his two wolf brothers ran off quickly, darting out to meet Doom.
"The Great Primarch!"
The warriors of the Space Wolves knelt down to welcome the arrival of the brothers of the Father of Genetics.
"Get up." Doom stroked the giant wolf's head, his voice calm yet powerful, clearly reaching the ears of every Space Marine.
“Brother!” Ruth and Doom embraced each other warmly.
“You know why I’ve come. It’s time for us to embark on our journey!” Doom cut straight to the point, stating his purpose to Russ.
"The space wolf awaits its hunt!" A fierce glint flashed in Ruth's eyes, his wild face contorted into a savage grin, revealing sharp canines in his mouth: "Tear the aliens apart with my brothers!"
Doom took out the projection device and told Russ about the Emperor's early arrangements: "The Twelfth Legion is gradually gathering in the Eastern End Starfield, waiting for you and me."
"Tomorrow, the interstellar message regarding the operation will be relayed to every participating fleet. This is a massive joint operation."
"We must depart now and rendezvous with the fleet before its legions complete their assembly."
“Yes!” Ruth was equally serious. This was his first battle back in Space Wolf, and the first time the Empire had two Primarchs fighting together.
"Doom, please board my Glory Queen-class flagship, and we will proceed together to the assembly point."
Ruth extended her most sincere invitation to her brother.
