Chapter 150 The Steel That Holds the Laws of Dust
Chapter 150 The Steel That Holds the Laws of Dust
Huilong City, one of Zhulong's many post-war plans, reflects the old dragon's unwavering determination to rebuild the Allied forces. In that case, resources and destiny power would naturally concentrate, and the monarch wouldn't stand idly by. Unless, of course, that new fortress happens to encounter a crucial turning point…
She was in her early twenties...twenty-two years ago...
“Looks like you have another reason to see the king.” Olek placed his hand on his scythe. “Don’t worry, misfortune won’t end by coincidence. Your misfortune has only just begun!”
"The dark side of the tide resides within me, a scythe cutting through the shadow of fate." He chanted these dark verses, awakening an ancient weapon forged with malice, "Cursed Armor, the scythe of calamity!"
As his palm brushed against the surface of the scythe, the black blood that made up the weapon erupted irregularly, as if trillions of needles were piercing and tearing the blade apart. The blood scythe shattered amidst the noise, and colorless runes seeped into the blood, reforging the scythe into a gigantic weapon ten meters long.
The handle of the giant scythe was covered in thorns, a weapon of malice that would harm even its wielder. Olek gripped the scythe unperturbed, letting the blood-red thorns pierce his palms. He swung the scythe, unleashing a deep purple sword wind, like the Grim Reaper wielding a weapon to reap lives.
Ji Huaisu heightened her vigilance; ancient memories flowed through her blood, making her instinctively sense the danger of the sword wind. She slammed her light shield into the earth, its surface flashing with gold, blue, and yellow light in succession. Three colossal shields, as large as mountains, rose from the ground, their cores carved with roaring dragon heads.
Water, light, dust. Discipline seal - Triple Dragon Mountain Seal.
The dragon's mouth gaped open atop the ice shield, and three dragon roars transformed into turbulent elemental currents of destruction, meeting the sword wind head-on. However, the purple blade easily sliced through the storm, like a steel sword piercing flesh; the Dragon Seal Mountain's obstruction failed to halt its advance. The slash pierced through three mountains in succession, unstoppable; even the mountain-like shield could not slow its advance.
The triple icebergs came from the center, cleaving the snowfield into a devastating ravine. Ji Huaisu glided across the ice to avoid the attacks, carefully observing the cross-section of the icebergs after they cracked. The ice was not as smooth as she had imagined; instead, it was covered with ugly, cystic protrusions, and the interior of the mountain range was full of tiny cracks that spread like roots, as if poisonous seeds were sprouting within them.
Without a second thought, she used a spell to transmit her voice to the igloo: "Vander, the enemy has taken out an ugly scythe. Its physical damage from the slashes isn't strong, but it can break my seal from the inside."
"A scythe? A scythe of calamity! That old bastard has no shame!" Vande cursed in the igloo. "From now on, don't use any sealing or defensive techniques. Keep your distance and fight it head-on. That thing is a creation that maliciously amplifies coincidence and randomness to the extreme. In other words, it's a sword that destroys order, specifically designed to counter stable sealing and defensive techniques!"
"Looks like the old man got really hurt just now..."
Ji Huaisu glanced back; the scythe's attack, after being dodged, immediately changed direction and slashed back, like the fin of a shark lurking beneath the ice. She used her longsword to whip up a gust of cold wind and slash, temporarily slowing down the attack. But Olek had already unleashed his second and third slashes; the trajectory of the purple scythe wind was unpredictable and erratic, and with the power of Turbid Tears alone, she couldn't find a countermeasure for the time being.
The ice melted, transforming into a torrent of water that swept across the land. Ji Huaisu, riding her skateboard, cut through the waves, using the current to maneuver and dodge attacks. She nimbly changed direction to avoid the scythe's encirclement and rapidly approached Olek. But the demon no longer wielded its weapon; instead, it plunged its thorny scythe handle into its foot, its colorless power seeping deep into the icy plain like a root.
“Gathering of vengeful spirits, the hands of the dead.”
In an instant, illusory power permeated the icy plains, and thousands of transparent hands shattered the ice and reached for the knight. The attack came too densely and too quickly. Ji Huaisu, busy dodging, was caught off guard and grabbed by a small hand. The ghostly claw pierced through her armor and entered her body, causing an astonishing pain in her mind.
Those are the longings of the unjustly deceased, the remnants of innocents who died tragically. Demons are the race most adept at manipulating longing, and Olek collected the last wishes and malice of the unjustly killed, transforming them into this extremely vicious curse. The Azure Armor Army excels at purifying corruption, yet struggles against the curses of the innocent; their ice armor can withstand swords and spears, but not the invisible curse.
Knights excel at dealing with demons, and he also has tactics to counter knights. Doom is one of the world's most knowledgeable beings about Discipline Knights; he knows the weaknesses of every element and every unit type inside and out.
"That's enough, Azure Armor Army."
Olek clapped his hands together, and the scythe blazed with intense light, unleashing hundreds of purple beams of light. This light sealed off Ji Huaisu's surroundings, causing the icy water to dissipate and leaving her with nowhere to lean. The vengeful spirits' hands reached for the knight's limbs, and the scythe's strikes drew ever closer. With nowhere to turn, this was the final fate he had prepared for the knight.
A phantom hand swept across the knight's profile, and three slashes arrived simultaneously, their howls foreshadowing inevitable destruction. However, a golden light rose from the deep purple wind, deflecting the vengeful spirits and the sword winds, transforming into a massive pillar of light that hovered behind the knight!
The secret formation regenerated, instantly covering the entire Dust Island. Ji Huaisu's ice armor automatically shed, forming the aquatic dragon that had initially appeared during the transformation. It roared as it swam into the pillar of light, transforming along with it to form a resilient and powerful yellow greatsword.
The greatsword crashed heavily behind Ji Huaisu, then disintegrated with her will, covering her body to form a light, bright yellow armor. The secret formation ceased at that moment, and Ji Huaisu drew her new sword, issuing a declaration in the light.
"—It is the steel that settles dust and upholds the law!"
The instant she drew her sword, she was already behind the demon, the invisible blade slicing through filthy black blood. The lightning-fast slash nearly severed half of the demon's body, his face stained with his own blood. Olek's eyes darted to one side, a look of disbelief and astonishment flashing in his narrow pupils.
"Boundless Dust...Steel Armor Army? Impossible!"
"Are we already going to exclaim?" Ji Huaisu wiped the blood from his sword. "It seems the old man's knowledge isn't all that broad after all!" Olek pieced his body back together in mid-air. The low-ranking moon beast couldn't withstand the Steel Armor Army's slash. If he hadn't contracted with the Moon Blood, that slash would have ended the battle. This was unprecedented. The path to supremacy inevitably diverged at point 3. Those with exceptional talent could apply parallel point techniques, but they would inevitably be unable to change their own life essence.
But this knight actually broke the rules. One moment she was still turbid tears, the next she was already a drifting dust!
He created distance and swung his scythe, the blade piercing towards Ji Huaisu's head like a bird's beak. Ji Huaisu cleaved the scythe in two with a single sword strike; the seemingly unstoppable attack now had an opponent. The knight held a semi-transparent longsword, its blade containing dagger-like shadows. The shadow blade's ability to injure through shadows was amplified many times over by this longsword, making it a formidable opponent even against a demon's weapon.
Shadow Dust. The Holy Judgment of Discipline - The Boundless Sword.
Ji Huaisu swung his sword down with a backhand motion, and extremely condensed elemental power exploded at the tip of the blade, forming a gigantic sword light of gold and black. The light, vast as the waves of a tsunami, clashed head-on with Olek's scythe-like sword wind. The two forces collided, clashing and annihilating each other, and the resulting hurricane blew even the frozen mountains into the sky!
Amidst the chaotic battle, only the igloo protecting everyone remained steadfast. Chu Hengkong, holding binoculars, watched the battle intently alongside Fan De, who was entangled in a leopard-gazing tube.
Unable to keep up with the pace of the battle, Qingye jumped up and down in frustration: "What's going on? What's going on? Why can that sword block the scythe of calamity?"
In a corner of the igloo, Shaks, who had been conserving his energy, spoke impatiently: "The principle of that sword is similar to the Stone Goblin's 'eraser,' which uses magic to bind the rapidly vibrating tiny particles into the blade, and then uses the reflection as the core... and then releases the binding at the last moment before the strike, allowing the disordered power to explode, which is why there is that kind of energy wave-like sword energy."
"By using self-destructing weapons to avoid the effects of the scythe..." Qingye stared blankly, "Then Sister Huaisu can only block one attack..."
“So the weapon must be regenerated the instant it is destroyed.” Shakespeare rubbed his eyes, his vision seemingly restored by some spell. “That knight has already changed 37 swords!”
Clang. Clang. The sound of metal clashing was incessant; each collision of longswords and scythes stirred up a destructive wind. The surrounding environment had been destroyed and rebuilt countless times. Ji Huaisu single-handedly shouldered the responsibility of rebuilding the battlefield, yet showed no sign of fatigue. Swordsmen and demons raced across the ice, their flashing shadows like a dance on the tip of a blade.
The demon, meticulously planning its next move, had to be wary of the knight's sealing formation; its vast knowledge filled it with apprehension. The young knight, however, was fearless. Her lack of knowledge about the enemy's methods prevented her from feeling apprehensive. She firmly believed in her own strength, in the support of her companions, and in their ability to overcome the enemy's treacherous schemes.
The 41st sword strike deflected the scythe's attack slightly. The 46th sword strike created an opening in the enemy's defense. Then the 51st sword slashed into the gap, leaving a wound on the demon's face. Olek staggered back, dozens of venomous eyeballs sprouting from his wound. He ignored his injuries, didn't even bother to regain his footing, and simply struggled to parry the knight's next strike, several of his eyeballs gazing towards the sky.
"Misfortune strikes again—"
"too slow!"
The 52nd sword pierced Olek's heart, and the unrestrained power erupted from within, blasting the demon into filthy blood!
Ji Huaisu remained relentless, plunging into the blood and thrusting straight at the Calamity Scythe, attempting to seal away the dangerous weapon. But at that moment, the Calamity Scythe defied gravity and flew high into the sky, only to be forcefully snatched away by some unseen force, soaring towards the other side of the clouds.
Ji Huaisu released her longsword and stretched her shoulder with one hand. She gazed in the direction the scythe had flown, and the last remaining doubt in her heart was resolved.
I'd found it strange before. The "Blood of the Moon" is so huge, so why is Olek so short after the contract?
How could someone with only a short stature be able to lay chains that span the entire city?
The reason was actually at the top.
She raised her head, her gaze piercing through the clouds to the highest reaches of the heavens. As the scythe shifted, a colossal, unfathomable creature slowly materialized. Its body was a long, umbrella-like canopy, within which countless vengeful spirits gathered, while the gray patterns on its outer surface outlined a horrifying skull. Countless rusted iron chains hung from its umbrella-like form, seemingly chains connecting heaven and earth.
Those iron chains are the chains of misfortune, their true form the tentacles of a demon. This is the true form of the cursed demon Olek, a jellyfish of the dead that controls the fate of all things with chains!
It no longer used the easily manipulated puppet body; it was no match for Ji Huaisu. Just as Besen and Kanin had transformed into the Fire Serpent, Olek now disregarded the survival of its divided spirit, pushing the fusion to its limit, thus revealing its demonic nature, which could not last long. It gazed at the knight with empty eyes, its call like a storm in the clouds.
"A Chain of Misfortunes - Drizzle".
All the misfortunes rose up at once, turning into a bloody downpour!
