Chapter 94 Cooperation and Ambush

Chapter 94 Cooperation and Ambush (Second Update)

Bennett walked into Mr. Hans’s workshop, where Mr. Hans had just finished making tea.

Bennett sat down and started cursing after only a few words with Hans, a typical display of the crude and unsophisticated nature of military technology.

"How the hell did those damn Japanese know that Cuba wanted to help me?"

Hanz handed Bennett a cup of tea with a smile. Bennett took a sip and immediately spat it out. "This is fucking awful... Seriously, all Cuba has done so far is open their mouths and say a few words? They should at least send someone over. I have no idea what Hansen is thinking. He actually sent me to find you?!"

Upon hearing this, Hans said, "You need to think carefully, Bennett. How did Rin Arasaka find out that I had communicated with you?"

Bennett waved his hand. "It couldn't have leaked from me... Absolutely impossible! Even if he said you were contacting me, have you seen any evidence? Hansen would only believe him if he had evidence. If the colonel were to suspect this and that every day... he'd be too busy to believe anything."

Hans didn't speak. He knew Bennett wouldn't understand so much, but he himself could.

Given the colonel's intelligence capabilities, he probably already knew that much of his territory had been swallowed up by the Arasaka people.

Sending Bennett at this critical juncture is an overtly strategic move, meaning: I know you two have a problem. You and Bennett figure out how to deal with me, and just kick Arasaka out.

It has to be said that Rin is also clever; he didn't touch the money from Cuba and the colonel, but instead took advantage of himself.

The more Hanz thought about it, the more agitated he became.

So Hans patiently explained the general reason behind all of this to Bennett—

When Bennett heard Hans's explanation, he almost jumped up!

He said incredulously, "Holy crap?"

Hans nodded firmly. “We’re not the same size, and our goals are different. As long as the colonel is alive, I can’t touch him in the slightest. Cuba contacted me just as a backup plan, and you are a backup plan too. Making money is secondary… You may not see the people from Cuba, but you’ve certainly seen Cuban money, haven’t you?”

Bennett swallowed hard and hurriedly asked, "Just how much does Hansen know?"

Hanz tapped his finger on the table. "He knows that Arasaka is encroaching on my territory, he knows that you are related to me, and he knows that Cuba is related to me."

Bennett was utterly speechless.

“He probably doesn’t know about the Cuban plan to help you, otherwise you wouldn’t be able to drink that ‘disgusting tea’ now. If he finds out any more, I’ll be beheaded too.”

Hanz began to think about how to shut Rin up completely.

"So what does this person look like? Where is he? Still haven't found him?"

Bennett shook his head. "It's like he's disappeared, but his mercenaries are all under surveillance. Before, when you sent us to investigate, we tried to contact this idiot by phone, but he was always hiding and giving us the runaround. As for you... damn it, never mind!"

Hans smiled and said, "So you're saying you're like me, never meeting with clients?"

Then Hans gave Bennett some reassurance.

"Cuban hackers are investigating. Once they find out this person's location, they'll shut him up."

Bennett was a little unsure. "Will this work? What if he reports it to the colonel... I'm worried he might have evidence against him."

Hanz's voice was calm, but it carried a chill: "The Cuban intelligence network always operates cleanly... They will send assassins to our door. Once that person is dead, we'll deal with his mercenaries, and this matter can be completely over. As for evidence, if the hackers find it, they'll help us take care of it. If they don't, then this guy will have to pay the price for his fraud."

“We’ll split the Animal Gang’s business equally, Bennett. This is a reward for the brave.”

Bennett clenched his fist; his confidence had returned.

"Alright! I'll kick these idiots out tomorrow. They've kept me from eating and sleeping properly for days. Then I'll pick some mercenaries from the Netherhound to get you those guys." Hanz shook his head. "No, keep them. I'm short-handed right now... His men are pretty good at their jobs."

Bennett waved his hand, "Okay, okay, I'll be going then. Contact me if anything comes up."

Lin Yue drove all the way to Watson District.

In 2023, a nuclear explosion turned this area into a temporary refuge for Night City.

During the years that Arasaka briefly left the city, the district flourished, and everything was being built towards the best possible future.

The densely packed North Industrial Zone (NID), blue-collar workers after get off work, comprehensive medical care, infrastructure... Japanese companies have already drawn up the blueprint for this district.

However, with the end of the Allied War—

Arasaka returns once again, and the district, like the company behind it, begins to decline. Perhaps driven by hatred, Arasaka uses his lawyers and bankers to bring down his rivals one after another, allowing the Tiger Claw Gang and the Whirlpool Gang to establish themselves here...

Looking at Watson today, apart from vicious gangs and brothels, Watson District is like an aging prostitute in a glamorous coat, her former glory gone.

Lin Yue closed the car door, and several members of the Tiger Claw Gang, who were openly trading on the street corner, stared at the unfamiliar face.

Ellen Street.

If Lin Yue remembered correctly, the prosthetic doctor in this area should be a male doctor, who seemed to have no connection with Farida.

Lin Yue stepped onto the creaking, makeshift stairs and headed down.

At that moment, a light blue neon cross and a pill sign lit up at the entrance of the prosthetic clinic.

Lin Yue tried pressing the automatic door, and just when he thought no one was there, the door suddenly opened automatically.

Lin Yue, having drawn his pistol, slowly walked inside. On a large bed near the entrance lay a person, motionless, the air thick with the pungent smell of disinfectant.

"Guest, please stay away from him, he's sick."

Click! Lin Yue pointed the gun at him!
"Oh! Take it easy..."

The man who came out of the operating room raised his hand, signaling Lin Yue not to be violent.

Lin Yue subtly took a step back, looking at the African-American man with a hint of doubt in his eyes, "Are you the prosthetic doctor here?"

The guy breathed a sigh of relief. "New here, huh? Put the gun down. We've changed people, but the skills haven't changed. We'll take care of any problems for the customer right away."

Lin Yue entered the operating room and found it empty, with bloodstains dripping on the floor. "Where are the doctors who used to work here?"

"I don't know, maybe they ate at a different place?" The guy said as he moved to the automatic door behind Lin Yue.

He peeked out the door and looked around, then casually reached out and closed the automatic door. He continued, "I bought this place online, and the license has been transferred to me—but I suggest you don't stay here too long. That guy's illness is very troublesome. If you don't have biotechnology drugs, you'll be in big trouble."

Lin Yue listened to the sound of the door closing behind him, and his expression became somewhat strange.

He took a deep breath, and Lin Yue realized something: whenever he wanted to find someone or something, a bunch of troubles would follow him.

The African-American "cyborg doctor" reached behind his back and asked in a relaxed tone, "So, guest, what brings you here?"

Lin Yue shook his head, his voice calm:
"Dude, I'd like to know... what's the point of you playing this fake doctor game here?"
