The crystal chandelier had already been turned off.

Only the dim yellow light from the wall lamp remained in the study, illuminating Oswaldo Teixeira's somber expression.

"I can pretend your affair never happened, as long as you hand over those two guys."

Teixeira's gaze was inscrutable, and he said with a cold smile, "I don't understand what you mean."

"Oh?" Alvaro paused, then said slowly, "I thought you were sending people to look for Gabriel? Or have I misunderstood?"

Teixeira's expression froze, a cold glint flashing in his eyes, but he remained silent.

“My men just rescued Gabe, what a good kid,” Alvaro said casually, “from two dangerous fugitives.”

"Are you threatening me?"

Hearing this angry question, Maria was jolted awake from her prayers.

She quickly stood up and nervously moved closer, trying to figure out what was going on in the call.

The conversation between the two continued.

The next second, a familiar cry came from the phone.

Maria shuddered, and the color drained from her face instantly.

As she spoke, she backed away, then suddenly turned around, flung open the study door, and rushed out.

She gripped her phone tightly and quickly rattled off all the information she knew.

"Now, give me back my son."

There was silence on the other end of the phone for two seconds.

Teixeira has never been so embarrassed.

He stared at his wife for a long time without saying a word, then turned and went back to his study.

The tall man frowned, impatiently pulled two plane tickets from his pocket, and casually tossed them to her.

The tall man complained repeatedly.

"If we hadn't been nearby, we really wouldn't have made it in time."

Of course, his companion wasn't in a good mood either.

A single phone call dragged them out of their slumber and forced them to fire a gun on the plane.
