Chapter 334 Lizard Man
Chapter 334 Lizard Man
Brookhaven, Mississippi.
The sun still shines brightly during the day in November.
The parking lot near the Baptist church was full of gravel.
Several rusty trailers were parked haphazardly, with beer cans scattered among the weeds.
Two women were sitting on a bench at the entrance.
A man with dry, yellow hair, wearing faded jeans.
The woman next to her was shorter and rounder, and her T-shirt had the logo of a discount supermarket printed on the chest.
"Two hundred, you fucking give me two hundred! You dare say this isn't an insult?!"
The short woman spoke with a sharp edge, her voice unusually hoarse.
"My cousin got three hundred, but I only got two hundred? Why is that?"
"I spent a lot of money to get here, but that damn email didn't explain anything."
Upon hearing this, the woman with dry, yellow hair couldn't help but snort twice.
"You still have the nerve to complain? I only got 150."
"If it weren't for the proximity, who would come to this bullshit funeral?"
"The last time I heard anything about Colin was ten years ago."
"Ten years is nothing?" the short man said with a disdainful expression.
"Guess how long it's been since I last saw him?"
"It's been almost twenty years, since my cousin died."
"By the way, how did they deal with orphans back then?"
The woman with dry, yellow hair searched for a long time before finally finding half a penis in her bag. She lit it as if she had found a treasure.
“Who knows,” she squinted and shrugged.
Anyway, he joined the army when he was twenty.
The short man became interested.
"Then tell me, who would pay to invite us to his funeral?"
"The army? The government?"
The woman with dry, yellow hair picked at the black dirt under her fingernails.
"I guess he worked for a secret service and messed things up, then died."
"They sent the email, just to fob us off with a few hundred dollars."
“Something’s not right.” The short man paused for a moment, then looked around warily.
“Maybe they’re reptilians,” she whispered.
“I recently read an analysis that said the Pentagon has a lab full of cryogenically frozen cyborgs.”
"Colin was likely chosen by them, and his death was deliberately staged."
"This kid definitely has the talent to be a cold-blooded animal."
“I remember when he was a child, only four years old, his tongue was already very long.”
"Extra long?"
The woman with dry, yellow hair rolled her eyes and then chuckled.
"That's a great talent."
"It's most popular in the gay community up north."
She was quite satisfied with this conjecture and was about to continue speaking when the short man suddenly winked at her.
“wh——”
The woman turned her head in confusion, only to realize that there was someone behind her who had appeared out of nowhere.
He had an Asian face, was tall, and wore a suit and tie.
The short woman was momentarily speechless.
After pondering for a long time, she finally managed to squeeze out a few questions.
"You're here for Colin's funeral too? I don't remember you. Which side of his family are you from?"
"Congratulations, you guessed right," Zhou Yi said in a flat tone.
“I am the lizardman you just mentioned.”
"The ceremony is about to begin. Remember to come in, or you won't get the final payment."
The atmosphere became a little awkward.
The short man stared at the man, speechless, unsure whether he was serious or just joking.
Zhou Yi gave them a meaningful smile.
Then, he stubbed out his cigarette and walked toward the church without looking back.
Pushing open the ornately carved door, the interior was equally dilapidated.
Several pieces of stained glass shattered, letting in blinding beams of light.
The wooden bench has cracked edges and peeling paint.
A solitary, black urn sat on the podium.
The label on the front reads "Colin".
Jim was wearing a suit, had his hair slicked back, and his beard was clean-shaven.
He was standing by the pulpit, talking quietly with the priest.
The man was so thin he was practically skin and bones, and his right hand rested on the Bible.
"The coffin is waived, but as you know, there are expenses for cremation, placement of ashes, and the church." He drew out his voice, his tone gentle.
"If we could offer more support, we would pray for his soul for even longer."
Jim hummed in response, but before he could speak, the priest caught a glimpse of Zhou Yi out of the corner of his eye.
His eyes lit up, and he immediately abandoned Jim and went to meet him.
“John, I’m so glad to see you,” the priest said.
"The Lord will remember your kindness."
He pointed to the hole above the podium, then quickly withdrew his hand.
“Look, this church hasn’t been repaired in many years.”
"The windows and the roof. We're trying our best to maintain them, but resources are limited."
"The fact that we have this ceremony today is all thanks to your kind intentions."
"Everyone should remember that it was generosity that made this week possible."
Meanwhile, the noise in the back row grew louder and louder under the influence of alcohol.
A dozen or so of Colin’s relatives gathered together and argued heatedly.
A few seconds later, the man in the baseball cap smashed the bottle on the ground.
"I'll fuck you, you bitch!" he cursed.
"You stole my truck back then and eloped with that black guy Matteo. How dare you come to see me?"
The fat woman opposite her suddenly stood up.
"Bullshit! I bought that truck with my own money."
"You good-for-nothing, all you do is sit in the park and do drugs."
"Damn it, say that again!"
"You're a fucking piece of trash, so what?"
"You good-for-nothing, you didn't even realize you'd been cheated on. Do you think Colt is your own son?"
“I’m telling you, Ida has been in the Trojan trailer more than once, I saw it with my own eyes.”
Before he finished speaking, the woman next to him screamed and pounced on him.
"Fuck you, Bonnie. You're just looking for a man, why are you spouting nonsense here?"
The scene instantly erupted.
The two women were wrestling, their fists slamming into each other's faces, blood splattering everywhere.
In an instant, more people were affected and simply joined the fray.
The child was crying loudly in the corner.
"Please—please calm down, this is the Lord's temple!"
"If you truly respect the deceased, you should sit down!"
The priest's face grew increasingly pale.
Although he was shouting desperately, he looked helplessly at Zhou Yi.
"Do not do evil before the altar."
Don't let the devil succeed.
Zhou Yi remained silent until the last two women entered the church, at which point he gave Jim a wink.
A moment later, the man silently approached the gate.
The two exchanged a brief glance and nodded slightly.
Zhou Yi immediately stood up, stood on the bench, and drew his pistol.
Immediately afterwards, to the priest's horrified gaze, he quickly loaded the gun and raised his hand.
The next second—
boom!
Debris fell from the ceiling.
The deathly silence was fleeting.
Even greater chaos ensued.
Zhou Yi's expression remained unchanged as he fired another shot.
"Shut up!"
"Shut the fuck up, all of you!" he shouted.
boom!
“Sit still, all of you, like well-behaved animals.”
After the final three rounds, the crowd stood frozen in place, filled with doubt and uncertainty.
Fortunately, their survival instincts honed over many years allowed them to make a choice quickly.
He loosened his fist and picked up the fallen hat.
The chair was dragged, making a screeching sound.
Seeing this, Zhou Yi lowered the muzzle of his gun slightly.
“Very well, I only have two sentences to say,” he said.
"First, don't try to challenge signal jamming."
Second, the final payment will be made on time.
Let's begin now.
Zhou Yi sat back down and smiled at the priest, who was still in a daze.
“Your followers are ready.”
