Chapter 255 Utter Madness
Chapter 255 Utter Madness
A residential building built before the war lies dormant in the darkness, its iron railings in front of the door covered in rust.
Zhou Yi squatted behind a notice board not far away, with her hands on her knees.
“Those two smoking guys on the right are suspicious; they’re carrying guns and they’re on guard duty.”
At this point, he sighed.
"Your Marcel is likely in grave danger."
Kate Lyle squatted down next to Zhou Yi, wrapped in a coat she'd somehow gotten her hands on.
"So... those two are Na*?" she asked.
“Of course,” Zhou Yi said.
“That’s great.” Cattel nodded, her expression unchanged.
"This is the enemy I've been fantasizing about? That's fucking awesome."
As soon as she finished speaking, she suddenly reached out to grab the pistol from the man's waistband.
Zhou Yi reacted quickly and grabbed Katelyl's arm.
"Calm down," he said. "I am your will, don't act on my own."
Cattel was stunned for a moment before belatedly blinking.
She seemed not to understand, yet she also seemed to understand completely, but was simply unable to process the information at the moment.
"Follow me." After saying that, Zhou Yi didn't wait for her and quietly moved along the corner of the wall.
The man leaned against the wall, smoking idly, his gaze occasionally sweeping towards the apartment across the street.
The room was pitch black and completely silent.
There is no connector signal.
No other contacts have appeared.
He yawned and reached for his watch in his pocket—to check the time, or simply to find something to do.
Just then, something gently patted my shoulder twice.
The man paused, then reflexively turned his head.
However, before his gaze could focus, Zhou Yi had already grabbed his chin, her right arm pressed against his neck and tightening around him.
The next second, the cervical spine dislocated.
Not a sound was made.
The body immediately lost its tension and went limp.
It was only then that the man's companion realized that there had actually been attackers.
In a panic, he reached for his pistol.
too late.
Zhou Yi had already moved closer.
The impact was so violent that the other person staggered back a few steps, slipped, and almost fell to the ground.
The man stared wide-eyed, trying to call for help, but his jaw was quickly pressed down, and his forehead was pressed with another hand.
With a sudden twist—
"Click."
There was no more struggle.
Zhou Yi carried the body with one hand and dragged it into the shadows beside the rainwater drainage ditch.
"What a genius."
A sigh suddenly rang out beside me.
Zhou Yi looked in the direction of the sound and saw Katelyl standing under the tree, staring at her empty hands:
"But...why can't I still conjure a gun?"
"Isn't this just my imagination?" she asked loudly.
Zhou Yi sighed, beginning to regret his decision to fool a woman out of momentary boredom.
“Come with me,” he said.
The apartment door was ajar.
There were marks at the entrance where it had been kicked by iron boots.
The dried bloodstains on the floor were black, the furniture was overturned, and scraps of paper were scattered on the sofa.
Catteler stood in the center of the room, as if suddenly struck by some thought:
"It's strange, I dreamt that he died."
"You mean Marcel?" Zhou Yi asked casually.
He kept moving, searching for possible clues among the broken walls and ruins.
Katelyl nodded seriously.
“I could see him being pinned to the ground, his head hitting the desk.”
"He couldn't speak, he was just bleeding non-stop."
She paused, seemingly considering whether the details were too specific to be a hallucination.
"Could it be that my subconscious mind hates him?"
Zhou Yi's gaze swept over the corner and cabinet, carefully discerning that there was no hiding place there.
“That’s not necessarily true,” he said, “but what is certain is that you are indeed imagining the collapse of the resistance.”
"What do you mean?"
"The military police's arrest was too swift and extremely precise." "Either an important figure has turned against you, or you've been under surveillance for a long time."
Catteler frowned, looking confused.
That's a bit strange.
"I thought our modus operandi was covert enough."
"Could it be that deep down, I'm actually a pessimist? A surrenderist?"
Zhou Yi continued the search, leaving no suspicious detail unchecked.
Unfortunately, he gave up after three minutes.
The place was cleaned so thoroughly that it was almost impossible for anything to be overlooked.
“Why do you look so disappointed?” Katelyl stood in the center, hands on her hips.
Her head started spinning again, and her temples throbbed with pain.
"What are you looking for?"
Cattel thought for a moment, then repeated the previous question:
Why do you look so disappointed?
"Quite the opposite." Zhou Yi took out a cigarette from his pocket, lit it, and said, "I've just had enough."
Katelyl turned her head away.
"Have you had enough of what?"
"I'm fed up with this place, constantly chasing after fragmented information that nobody knows is true or false and nobody cares about."
Upon hearing this, Katelyl was immediately drawn to the new topic: "What kind of information are you looking for?"
Zhou Yi shrugged. "About China."
"I always need to understand his predicament before taking any action, so as not to do the opposite of what I intend."
"Was my affinity for Asia really that strong?"
Cattel's eyes were somewhat glazed over.
"I thought I should be more enthusiastic about, for example, guerrilla warfare in Siberia?"
"What?" Zhou Yi became interested in her confession.
Don't we share memories?
Catley chuckled.
"They're killing Na*, don't you know?"
"In the east, in the forest, under the railway bridge, I should have been there if I hadn't died."
As she finished speaking, Zhou Yi's heart stirred.
"You like killing Na*?" he asked.
"like."
Kyle Reilly answered without hesitation, even with a touch of lightness.
“When they kidnapped my uncle, they asked his son if he was willing to ‘give up other people in exchange for his life’.”
"He said no, so they took my uncle out and shot him."
"Ask again later if you're willing."
She chuckled softly.
"Now his son says he's willing. It's a pity he's been reassigned."
“The newcomer wasn’t clear on the situation and got the order wrong, so he was taken out and shot as well.”
"It was only later that we discovered the list was wrong."
“It shouldn’t have been their turn to interrogate that day.”
"Kidding."
"That's not my uncle at all."
"It's my father."
"This was told to me secretly by a drunken officer."
“I killed him inside the castle.”
"pretty good."
"I really like that feeling."
Zhou Yi lowered his head, exhaled a puff of smoke, then looked at her and slowly said:
"Congratulations on that."
"Your hallucination now has an interesting plan."
“What are we going to do?” Cattel asked.
"We will no longer waste time looking for messengers, old newspapers, or contact points."
"Let's go find those people who definitely know something."
"Who?"
"People who live in Germania".
