Starting from South America, speeding through the world
Chapter 232 2 Symbolism
Chapter 232 Duality
After he finished speaking, the car fell into a brief silence.
Zhou Yi didn't reply, but simply started the engine.
The pickup truck turned around and drove back into the night.
The man sat in the passenger seat, watching the street scene recede into the distance, finally calming down a bit.
"Where are we going?" he asked.
"go back."
"Where to?"
"hotel."
"Huh?" The man looked surprised.
“The surveillance cameras are still on,” Zhou Yi explained calmly. “We were caught on camera.”
Upon hearing this, the man instantly realized what it meant.
"You mean the cameras in the lobby? And the ones in the elevators and hallways?"
“And the front entrance and exit.” Zhou Yi looked ahead, his tone unchanged: “If those things fall into the wrong hands, both of us will run into a lot of trouble.”
A flicker of fear flashed in the man's eyes, and he lowered his head, clenching his fists.
After a few seconds of silence, he carefully chose his words and spoke:
"When I get back, I will definitely organize and send you my dad's and Lao Zhao's letters, as well as the things in the study."
"Thanks to meeting you this time, otherwise..."
The man stopped there.
Zhou Yi nodded slightly, which was taken as an agreement.
Soon, the pickup truck drove into the neighborhood it had passed through earlier.
Incandescent lights were already lit in the direction where the hotel was located—from a high-powered portable lighting tower.
Nearby, there were several satellite signal vehicles, and two groups of reporters were setting up cameras around the street corner.
The man leaned closer to the glass and murmured, "It's already...sealed off?"
Zhou Yi did not respond, but stared at the few white faces inside the cordon, his expression slightly somber.
"We need to hurry," he whispered. "They're about to make their move."
Although the man didn't understand what those words meant, he swallowed hard and nodded, trying to appear calm.
"Follow me later," Zhou Yi casually instructed, then stopped beside the half-collapsed prefabricated house.
The two got out of the car one after the other, walked through narrow alleys, and after a few twists and turns, it took them half a minute to reach the fire lane on the left side of the hotel.
That place had long been occupied by several Ugandan soldiers.
One man sat on a plastic box smoking, while two others leaned against the wall chatting, rifles draped over their laps, looking as relaxed as if nothing had happened inside.
Zhou Yi raised her hand, signaling the man to hide in the shadows, and then strode over.
"What happened inside?" he asked, feigning curiosity.
The leading soldier was taken aback.
After noticing Zhou Yi's Asian features, her gaze unconsciously swept over his wrists and shoes.
At this moment, Zhou Yi moved closer and said, "Excuse me, I'm a tourist. I just arrived here and don't know much about this place."
Did they send you anything? Is it best to avoid sending them?
The man grinned, revealing a set of uneven teeth, and blew smoke at him.
“A tourist,” he said, then checked one last time to make sure there were no security cameras nearby, his attitude gradually changing: “You shouldn’t be here.”
"This area is currently under temporary military control."
"Trespassing is a serious crime."
He spoke slowly, his expression serious, completely unlike his earlier languid demeanor.
"Take out your wallet, and your passport too."
"We'll register you to avoid any trouble later."
"Unless you want to be treated as an accomplice of terrorists and go to jail to explain to them."
Having said that, he narrowed his eyes slightly, extended his left hand, as if waiting for the Asian to cooperate. The two soldiers beside him also fell silent, straightened up, slung their rifles over their shoulders, and moved closer from either side.
Seeing this, Zhou Yi sighed.
Then, as if resigned to his fate, he lowered his head to reach into his pocket.
"I'm so sorry, I'm new here and don't know anything, please don't..." he mumbled incoherently.
A flicker of excitement crossed the man's face; he seemed surprised that a simple trick tonight would yield such an unexpected windfall.
"I didn't bring my passport, but—"
Zhou Yi was still nervously arguing when his right hand suddenly shot out.
The next second, he pulled a straight-bladed dagger from the side pocket of his tactical vest, stabbed it diagonally into his carotid artery, and severed his trachea.
The black man's eyes widened suddenly, and he tried to shout but couldn't make a sound.
Blood gushed out, and Zhou Yi seized the opportunity to grab the back of his neck, pressed his body forward, and pulled out a dagger. The corpse went limp like a sack.
The man on the left only felt a blur before his eyes, and then the captain lay down. He thought some kind of witchcraft had been used and was terrified, so he immediately reached for his rifle.
Zhou Yi didn't give him any more time to react.
He quickly moved to the side and closed in, gripping the lower edge of the gunstock with his left hand while pressing down on the muzzle with his shoulder.
He extended a short blade from his right hand, the tip of which pierced the lower edge of his collarbone.
The other person tried to struggle, but was pinned to the abdomen, his right arm twisted, and his whole body was thrown to the ground.
At the same time, the last man finally drew his pistol, but before he could even aim, Zhou Yi charged at him.
Just as he was about to pull the trigger, his wrist was grabbed and twisted outwards.
With a cry of pain, Zhou Yi gripped the short blade in reverse and inserted the dagger into his jaw, piercing straight to the bottom of his mouth.
A stream of air and blood bubbles gushed from the corners of his mouth, accompanied by a whimpering groan.
The man tried to back away, but Zhou Yi grabbed his shoulder, causing him to stagger and fall to his knees, his pistol slipping from his hand.
Within three seconds, his limbs twitched a few times before he collapsed weakly, leaving only warm liquid running down his chin, soaking his collar, and dripping onto the soil.
Zhou Yi raised his hand to wipe the blood splattered on his face, glanced back at the dumbfounded man surnamed Li, and gestured for him to follow him.
After passing through a closed staff passage, the two finally entered the hotel.
The toilet remains the same as before.
However, the three corpses were dragged out.
The bloodstains stretched all the way into the lobby in the distance.
We don't know what the militants want to do with them.
"Lock the door after you go in."
Zhou Yi pushed open the innermost cubicle, drew the pistol from his waist, and threw it to the man, "Shoot if anyone comes, don't hesitate."
He paused for a moment before belatedly asking, "Do you know how to use it?"
The man first nodded, then shook his head. "I've seen the video online. I roughly know."
Upon hearing this, Zhou Yi hesitated for a moment, but still walked back.
"Don't touch the trigger," he said.
The man reflexively let go.
Zhou Yi pulled out the magazine to check it, then inserted it back in, and gently pulled the slide to chamber a round.
"This is a modified version; the firing force is very light. After you lift it up, confirm the target, and press it all the way down."
"Most importantly, it has no external fuse; the so-called 'safety switch' is right on your index finger."
After giving a brief explanation, Zhou Yi handed the gun back to the man. "When I come back, I will knock on the door three times, pause once, and then knock twice more."
"Everyone else is an enemy, understand?"
The man nodded vigorously, his throat bobbing. "I understand."
"You be careful too," he added immediately.
Zhou Yi smiled and turned to leave.
"Take my gun, it's expensive."
My phone exploded, and my eSIM exploded too. I can only use a physical SIM card to activate roaming. Chapter 2 will probably be much later.
