Chapter 13 I picked it up

"Report a crime? Sir, I think you've made a mistake. This isn't a police station."

Although confused, Lucas tried his best to remain professional and polite.

He thought that sentence would be enough to explain the situation, but the man seemed not to have heard it at all, and a kind smile still lingered on his lips:
"I came here specifically to report the case to you."

Staring at the dark pupils beneath the hat brim, Lucas suddenly felt a sense of unease:
"Sir, if this is a common civil dispute, I'm afraid we cannot handle it here. You can contact the relevant department."

As he spoke, he glanced discreetly at the special agents' positions on both sides of the hall.

Four armed men were talking in hushed tones in a rest area not far from the reception desk.

He looked relaxed and seemed unaware of what was happening here.

“My situation is not ordinary.”

The man's tone remained calm as he took a half-step forward, his hands still in his pockets.

Lucas's Adam's apple bobbed involuntarily as he quietly moved his hand toward the emergency alarm button under the table.

Marcos had specifically taught him how to operate such a device that morning.

"Please briefly describe your situation, and perhaps I can offer you some advice."

Lucas hovered his finger near the button, silently praying that he wouldn't have to press it later.

"I want to report myself," the man said again.

Lucas was stunned.

He almost thought he had misunderstood, but the man looked very serious and showed no sign of joking.

"Threatening national security, unauthorized trespassing on classified facilities, and illegal possession of firearms—"

After a pause, the man continued listing his crimes, "Also, assaulting and injuring federal intelligence personnel."

Lucas froze.

The other party pulled out a submachine gun from his pocket at some point.

"you--"

He opened his mouth tremblingly, but before he could say anything, the man had already pointed the gun at him.

"Feel sorry."

boom!
A loud gunshot rang out, and he felt a sharp pain in his shoulder.

The impact shoved me back into the chair, my ears ringing, and my vision blurred with intense pain.

Blood spread from the uniform, staining it red.

In a daze, he saw the man turn his back and then raise his hand to fire several shots at the ceiling.

The bullet pierced the decorative chandelier, scattering glass shards with a sharp cracking sound.

The special agents who were happily slacking off finally realized what was happening and hurriedly scattered to take cover.

"lay down your weapon!"

"Get down! Put your hands behind your head!"

Zhou Yi breathed a sigh of relief when he heard the leading man shouting at him from behind the load-bearing pillar.

These people were so bad at their job that he almost didn't know how to continue acting.

Zhou Yi readily placed the submachine gun on the ground, bent down, knelt on the ground, and put his hands behind his head.

However, his sincerity did not make the other party lower their guard.

The moment Zhou Yi disarmed himself, the two closest special agents rushed forward and slammed him to the ground.

With his cheek pressed against the cold ground, the stinging pain from the tiny shards of glass made Zhou Yi squint.

Before he could even adjust his posture, a rough black cloth was put over his head, his hands were handcuffed behind his back, and metal was embedded deep into his skin.

Immediately afterwards, Zhou Yi was roughly lifted up, his whole body almost suspended in the air, his feet dragging on the ground.

He didn't know how long he had walked when he faintly heard the short "beep" of the electronic door lock unlocking. He was then pushed directly into a chair.

Then came another series of footsteps fading into the distance. The cloth bag covering their heads was ripped off, and blinding light filled their vision.

Zhou Yi tilted his head for a moment to adjust before he could see his surroundings clearly.

This is a house with no decorations whatsoever.

The room was seven or eight square meters in size, with the four walls painted a monotonous gray-white, except for a huge one-way glass panel embedded in the wall directly in front.

A faint hum of electricity crackled in the silence. The overhead light shone a stark white, illuminating the table in front of him with every inch of its surface.

Slight scratches and dark stains are visible on the silver metallic surface.

Realizing he had successfully infiltrated the core area, Zhou Yi secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

But then, the man sitting opposite him became unhappy.

The prisoner's nonchalant expression made him frown and feel displeased.

With a gloomy face, the man pulled the Uzi, bolt-locked, from his pocket and slammed it onto the table with a clatter.

"Tell me, who are you?"

"Didn't I already say that I'm a concerned citizen who came here specifically to report the case?"

Zhou Yi spoke casually, but his right hand secretly exerted force.

Gradually increase the force by using the angle of the handcuffs until a sharp pain is felt at the thumb joint.

not enough.

It's almost interesting.

"What do you think this kind of nonsense will get you? You'll have to confess your identity and your purpose."

"As I said, I came here to report a crime."

The man was clearly enraged by his attitude and raised his voice, shouting, "You're right here and you still dare to talk nonsense! Tell me! Where did you get this gun?"

“Oh, I picked it up,” Zhou Yi replied defiantly. “It was right by the roadside. I was thinking I could probably sell it for some money, but who knew you guys would be so sensitive.”

No sooner had he finished speaking than a resounding slap landed on his face, his head snapping to the right, and the taste of blood filling his mouth.

It's now!

Fueled by this fierce determination, Zhou Yi no longer concealed his expression, gritted his teeth, and exerted all his strength in his hands.

"Click".

A soft cracking sound came from behind me, followed by a sharp, stabbing pain in my joints.

Left thumb dislocated.

"Where are your accomplices? Where are they?" The man asked in a deep voice, assuming that Zhou Yi had finally given in, seeing that he did not resist.

"I have no accomplices; I can manage on my own."

Zhou Yi gently moved his wrist and confirmed that his range of motion had increased significantly.

The man slammed his hand on the table and stood up, his voice suddenly rising: "Stop playing dumb! If you don't behave, I'll torture you right now!"

Zhou Yi remained silent, lowered his head and pretended to be scared, but kept moving his hands, trying to break free from his restraints.

Extracting electromagnetic pulse grenades.

He gave the command to the system in his mind.

The "Pulse-GX2 High-Energy Electromagnetic Pulse Grenade" has been distributed and will automatically activate in ten seconds. If removed or interfered with, the detonation will be canceled.

As the electronic notification sounded in his ear, Zhou Yi felt a weight on his palm.

A heavy object appeared out of thin air.

Meanwhile, the man across the table had lost his last bit of patience.

He angrily walked around the table, striding closer, his eyes filled with murderous intent.

Seeing this, Zhou Yi decisively stood up and threw the grenade into the man's arms.

Instinctively reaching out to catch the flying object, the man's pupils suddenly contracted the moment he saw it clearly.

His professional instincts told him that this was definitely not a good thing.

"you--"

Before he could finish speaking, a piercing crackling sound of electricity exploded in the air, and the incandescent light overhead began to flicker violently.

It lasted only a moment, then came to an abrupt end.

All the light sources went out simultaneously in an instant.

Darkness surged in like a tidal wave, engulfing everything.
