Chapter 11 Waterboarding
"No, I am the Godfather of the Fairies."

"Come on, be serious, buddy! We've never met before, what are you after?"

Zhou Yi ignored her question: "What is your wish?"

Seeing that the two seemed to be talking at cross purposes, Gina finally spoke after a long pause: "My wish is to live. Are you satisfied now?"

The system has not activated any tasks.

She was clearly lying.

But Zhou Yi didn't want to waste any more time here, so he simply went along with Gina's response and said, "Surviving is easy. Do you know any safe places?"

Gina hesitated for a long time, then finally sighed and spread her hands:

“Alright, Fairy Godfather, I know a place, but we have to hurry, or we’ll really be dead.”

"To be honest, Ms. Gina Lopez, who are you?"

"."

Why are you being hunted down?

"."

"Still not cooperating? Oh, sorry, I forgot to take it off."

Zhou Yi slapped his forehead and took the towel off the woman's face with a look of apology.

Gina's face was revealed, her hair wet, her eyes filled with indignation.

"Madam, please answer the question." Zhou Yi said calmly, "I don't have that much patience."

Gina gritted her teeth, staring intently at him, wishing she could tear Zhou Yi to pieces.

Her hands were tied behind her back, the ropes had left red marks, but her momentum was not diminished.

"Go to hell!"

Before she could finish speaking, Zhou Yi swiftly reached out and covered her face with the towel again, his movements decisive.

"It seems you need to calm down a bit more."

As he spoke, he unscrewed the mineral water bottle and slowly poured water onto the towel until it was completely soaked and stuck tightly to the towel.

The alarm clock next to me started ticking.

Zhou Yi sat back down on the sofa and looked around the "safe house".

The warm wooden floors complement the light-colored walls, making the room look clean and comfortable.

The vintage floor lamp in the corner cast a soft light, projecting the shadows of the lush green plants on the windowsill onto the heavy curtains.

The Uzi submachine gun and M4A1 carbine found on the dead body were thrown on the glass coffee table.

Next to it were two tactical vests with bulletproof inserts.

In addition, there were several M67 fragmentation grenades and a number of miscellaneous accessories.

These assassins are no ordinary individuals; they are armed enough to engage in a small-scale skirmish.

His abilities are just not that great.

It's the kind of character who, if placed in Fallujah, wouldn't survive more than two episodes.

Three minutes later, Zhou Yi got up and took the towel off Gina's face again.

She was breathing heavily, as if she had just been pulled from the water, and her face was pale.

"Now, can you answer my question?"

Gina inhaled the fresh air greedily, and after several seconds she looked up, her lips trembling: "You're a madwoman."

"Crazy or your savior," Zhou Yi said indifferently, "I need your cooperation."

"So, let's start over. What's your identity?"

Gina hesitated, her eyes revealing a struggle as she tried to be honest.

Zhou Yi didn't give her any more time to hesitate and covered her with the towel again.

Three more minutes passed.

This time, when Zhou Yi removed the towel, Gina became noticeably more obedient, with water constantly gushing from her mouth and nose.

Her shoulders slumped limply, her head bowed slightly, as if all her strength had been exhausted.

"Now, shall we talk?"

Zhou Yi looked down at her. Gina knew she couldn't hold out any longer, so she took a deep breath and said in a low, hoarse voice, "What do you want to know? I'll tell you."

"Your name?"

Gina Lopez

"gender?"

".female."

"age?"

"29."

"Profession?"

“ABIN[1], Deputy Secretary-General of the Internal Affairs Department.”

Who's hunting you down?

"I don't know, it could be the Bahia State Military Police, the Federal Police, the Special Operations Command, or some damn militia. Of course, there are also gangs, the ADA, the PCA, the TCP, and the CV."

"Why are they hunting you?"

"."

"I thought we were having an open and honest conversation, Gina. Why are they hunting you down?"

"Because I have a recording."

"please continue."

Gina closed her eyes, as if gathering her thoughts. After a few seconds, her voice rang out again:
"My job is to oversee the daily activities of certain individuals and ensure that their actions comply with national security requirements."

“A few months ago, Rubens, the head of the Internal Affairs Department, approached me.”

"He said that Governor Álvaro Domingos made some economic mistakes and that we needed to secretly gather evidence."

"He emphasized that this task could only be carried out by me, and no one else could be informed."

“I agreed, and then he gave me a private encrypted radio frequency and told me to listen for a while and see if I could find anything unusual.”

"The first two months were nothing special, just routine arrangements, such as meeting times and publicity strategies, after all, the election stage was approaching."

"But just a few nights ago, I heard something different."

"Regarding how to effectively eliminate the opposition."

"The method is very simple."

"A joint raid."

“Gangs would fabricate evidence of drug crimes in constituencies in advance to eliminate candidates and their supporters who supported the opposition in local elections.”

“Their plan was very specific, even down to who on the list would be prioritized, who would fabricate disappearances, and who would be detained on false charges.”

"After that, the militia will take over the dirty work of the operation, while the police will only be responsible for ensuring the legitimacy of the whole thing, you know, the propaganda materials shown to the media."

"Alvaro successfully won several constituencies, the militia received government funding, the police gained a better reputation, and the matter was resolved. Everyone was happy."

"It sounds like a flawless plan, so how did you get exposed?"

Gina's lips twitched slightly, as if suppressing her resentment, before she finally spoke with a cold laugh.

"Because those idiots at SIGINT didn't even pass the basic counter-detection training, their signal was tracked and pointed directly to the bureau."

"So, what's your next step?" Zhou Yi crossed his arms in front of his chest and shrugged indifferently: "Use the recordings in my hand to help the opposition party clear its name and win the election?"

"Help Rodriguez? How much cleaner are his actions than Alvaro's?"

“Cargill’s puppet, exchanging cheap contracts for farmland, leaving tens of thousands of people without a livelihood and forced to flock to slums to survive on welfare.”

After a brief pause, her emotions gradually became agitated, and her tone became sharper.

"I don't care who gets elected, nor do I care who stands against whom."

"The names and stances of these parties are completely unimportant."

"I only want Alvaro Domingos to suffer because he climbed up by stepping on my life, turning my hard work and my promising future into a joke."

"If this means ending his political career and exposing his shameful secrets to the world, then I'd be happy to grant that wish."
