Chapter 173 Meme Contamination!? High-Dimensional Invasion? (Burst Update, Requesting Monthly Tickets and Subscriptions)

Major overhaul! All Taoist texts will be deleted or adjusted!
Command Center in another world.

Su Mingjin stared at the bold, red-highlighted command on the screen, feeling her temples throbbing.

"Why did President Li suddenly order a halt to all research related to magical particles?"

The messenger replied expressionlessly, "I'm sorry, Mr. Su. This is a mandatory order from higher command, and Mr. Li is merely an executor."

A higher authority?
Su Mingjin's mind went blank.

This means that this was not a decision made by Li Weiguo alone, but rather a consensus reached by higher-ups.

Just yesterday, President Li sent her a message urging her to find a way to speed up the weaponization of runes.

what is this?
Changing orders every day?

No, this is practically cutting off one's own arm!
Research into magical particles is increasing rapidly, and progress is accelerating. With so many achievements from the military, shouldn't they be consolidating their gains? Why are they doing this?

"I understand."

Su Mingjin took a deep breath, suppressing the turmoil in her heart.

"I'll issue an order right away: all projects involving high-level spiritual beings, especially those related to human bodies and magical particles, are to be temporarily frozen. All high-level spiritual beings must be withdrawn to the mortal realm, without exception! Right?"

"Ok!"

……

In another world, a few kilometers from the pioneer headquarters.

Deng Dakang was gesturing wildly to Wang Hu, his face beaming with barely suppressed excitement.

"The previous test was very successful. After the burning runes were inscribed, the power of our weapons after exploding was also increased slightly. I really look forward to the power of those cannonballs made entirely of otherworldly materials and materials containing magical particles!"

Deng Dakang was very happy at that moment.

Their tests have been successful, and if they were given another month, no, half a month, Deng Dakang guarantees they could mass-produce this rune enhancement system!

At that time, the frontline soldiers will have stronger firepower.

Wang Hu was also very excited, and praised Professor Deng's skill with a smile.

"Alas, it's a pity that the physics research institute has produced too few results on magical particles. If we could produce more research results, perhaps we could incorporate them into our industrial manufacturing, and then we would have powerful weapons..."

Deng Dakang wanted to say more about this kind of work, but a communications soldier ran over quickly, interrupting the lively atmosphere.

"Professor Deng, orders from above: you and the highly sensitive personnel involved in the testing must immediately cease your mission and return to the modern world to undergo further testing."

Deng Dakang's smile froze instantly; he thought he was hallucinating.

"What did you say? Return to the modern world? Are you kidding me! My research is at a crucial juncture, and you're going to retreat now?"

Several other highly inspired individuals who were also participating in the exchange gathered around, their faces filled with astonishment.

"Yeah, we've just settled into this environment, and our physical fitness is steadily improving. Why would we go back?"

"I've just started to feel a bit of progress in my cultivation; if I go back, won't it all be ruined?"

Because of Deng Dakang's situation, many highly spiritual individuals became the first to try it out. They are currently enjoying the various benefits of absorbing magical particles and are at their most motivated.

Now, an order is issued to send them back, which is like pouring ice water over their heads.

Deng Dakang frowned and asked directly, "Whose order is this?"

The communications soldier stood ramrod straight and said, enunciating each word clearly, "Professor Deng, this is a mandatory order from higher command! Please cooperate!"

The four words "mandatory order" were like four mountains, pressing down on Deng Dakang and instantly silencing his temper.

He glanced at his proposal in a daze, feeling a surge of anger rising in his chest, burning him with pain in his internal organs.

"The higher-ups are incompetent!"

On the other side, Zhang Chiyun, Ge Dazhuang, and others who were meditating and practicing breathing exercises were also politely invited out.

"Excuse me, seniors. Orders have been given to suspend all testing and magical particle experiments. Please return with us." The warrior leading the group spoke gently, but the soldiers behind him had already subtly formed a battle formation, their attitude leaving no room for doubt.

Upon hearing this, Ge Wuyou's eyes widened immediately: "Go back where? I'm currently looking for a stable way to cultivate. I can already feel the spiritual energy circulating in my meridians."

"Please come back with us."

Ge Wuyou frowned: "It's not convenient for me to go back right now!"

Looking at the serious-looking soldiers in front of him, Zhang Chiyun felt a sense of unease.

"Don't worry, don't be confused." He calmly stood up and dusted off his Taoist robe. "We should obey the summons from our superiors. Let's go."

"Senior Brother Zhang!" Ge Wuyou exclaimed anxiously.

Just then, a figure carrying a belt emerged from a makeshift toilet not far away.

Ge Dazhuang had just finished resolving a major life event when he saw this tense scene and his junior brother, whose face had turned as red as a pig's liver.

He strode over, listened to the person next to him explain in a low voice, and his face darkened.

"evil creature!"

Without saying a word, Ge Dazhuang raised his whisk and slapped Ge Wuyou on the back of the head.

Snapped!
The sound is crisp and loud.

Ge Wuyou covered her head: "Why did you hit me?"

"That's exactly what I'm targeting! Cultivating the Tao begins with cultivating the mind. You don't even have this much self-control, so what are you talking about regarding the Great Tao?" Ge Dazhuang glared and puffed out his beard. "Sending you back is to test your resolve, but instead you're throwing a tantrum here. What kind of behavior is this! When you get back, hand-copy the 'Qingjing Jing' fifty times!"

Ge Wuyou's face instantly changed from a liverish color to a bitter gourd color. He hung his head and dared not utter another word.

The soldiers moved quickly, and Zhang Chiyun was practically carried onto the carriage while still holding his prayer mat.

Before long, Master Chen from Wudang Mountain led a group of younger disciples, and those from Qingcheng Mountain also gathered from their respective camps. The whole scene was filled with an indescribable sense of haste and oppression.

As highly sensitive personnel were evacuated in batches and various research projects were abruptly halted, the entire Otherworld Base Supernatural Research Center fell into a deathly silence and eerie atmosphere.

The once bustling experimental area has been completely shut down, leaving only a few staff members staring blankly at the empty equipment.

Everyone wants to know why.

But the command was like an invisible mountain, pressing down on everyone and making it hard for them to breathe.

What exactly happened to make the higher-ups make such a self-destructive decision?
Commander Man had just finished a meeting with the combat commander to discuss how to deal with a possible attack by the elves when he received an order from his superiors to send Professor Deng and the others back to the modern world.

He was very worried that there would be problems with the supply of some of the soldiers' equipment.

"President Su, what exactly happened? At this critical moment when a major battle could break out at any time, how could the superiors suddenly become so confused? This is almost as terrible as the ancient practice of changing generals on the eve of battle."

Su Mingjin shook her head with a pained expression: "I...I don't know either. President Li said it was an order from above. They should just be doing a test and they'll probably be back at work soon."

Commander Man was furious, but his anger eventually turned into helplessness: "I understand, General Su. I'll write up the application report. The supernatural power system cannot be lost, otherwise the morale of the front line will be affected."

"it is good!"

In other words, the army has now emerged from a state of extreme poverty, and the higher-ups have not completely sent back all those who can manufacture new equipment.

In the past, Commander Man would definitely have given feedback.

It's worth noting that the scene of mobilizing troops at this moment was probably preparing ammunition for a major battle, but then someone suddenly notified us that 90% of the ammunition had to be diverted to other places.

This is risking other people's lives.

Leaving aside the warriors from another world, the cat-shaped vehicle carried everyone back one by one.

Deng Dakang remained silent, staring out the window at the familiar, rapidly receding scenery.

After the familiar tearing sensation and the feeling of losing his vision, his sight returned, and he was back in the modern world.

Looking at the busy people and vehicles around him, he couldn't understand it at all.

What kind of momentous event could prompt a superior to make such an incomprehensible and self-destructive decision?

Should we assess the risks of their experiments?
"Although there are dangers in this other world, shouldn't the dangers lie with the gods? Why are we being treated like this?"

Deng Dakang felt extremely wronged.

He doesn't understand!
-
In the modern world, logistics coordination and command centers are crucial.

"Mr. Li, everyone has been brought back!"

"Are all the professionals we've arranged ready?"

"Okay, this is the general content of the questions we're going to ask. Would you like to review it?"

Li Weiguo took the tablet and carefully read the message on it, asking for his question.

"Hello... Once you arrived in this other world, please write down in detail how many hallucinations you experienced."

"Hello, in this other world, how many times have you heard about the incredible nature of various kinds of magic? Have you ever begun to doubt materialism? Please elaborate."

"Hello, otherworldly deities, would you like to meet them?"

"Your identification with the GC, your loyalty to your motherland..."

"What do you think of...?"

Looking at the numerous questions and answers, along with the various instruments used for brainwave monitoring during interrogation, Li Weiguo nodded: "We need to be tactful and not treat the soldiers on the front lines like prisoners."

Wang Kaixuan nodded and wrote it down.

"Also, the question only mentions Space Marines but not the Emperor or the Four Outcasts. Is that even useful?"

"Mr. Li, experts say that the four peddlers and others are all like 'high-dimensional meme contaminants,' and knowing about them can easily infect people. We have already conducted background checks on these warriors, and we haven't seen much information about the Warhammer world in their recent years' records. Even if there was some omission, it's likely spread through short videos or similar means."

"Yes, we must be gentle in our attitude. They are heroes, not criminals!"

"Don't worry, Mr. Li. I'll pass the message on right away."

"it is good!"
-
Outside the portal.

Deng Dakang got out of the car, breathing in the warm air, and looked at the people waiting for them.

"Everyone, from now on, please refrain from talking except for eating, sleeping, and giving reports. You can watch some movies and TV series to relax."

"Please maintain discipline. Those whose names are called, please come forward and take the test one by one."

"Gentlemen, please follow the rules. Does everyone understand?"

"Understood!"

After answering the question, Deng Dakang took a breath, but his mind drifted back to a similar process he had gone through before entering the other world.

However, unlike this time, they participated in the inquiries one by one before, and the scale and number were completely different from now.

Nearly five hundred people, especially those with high spirituality, have arrived in the other world so far. They are all gathered together to undergo another round of screening. I really don't know what headquarters has discovered.

Soon, the names of the people whose turn it was were called one by one.

The team was arranged in a simple and straightforward manner, directly according to the twenty-six letters of their surnames.

The inquiry process was extremely efficient, with thirty rooms open simultaneously, averaging one person every fifteen minutes.

Everyone who participated in the questioning came out with a blank look on their face, as if they had just come out of a long dream.

Someone tried to make eye contact, but was met with a helpless wave of the hand, the expression of which seemed to say: Don't ask me, I'm even more confused than you are.

Deng Dakang's surname begins with D, which is relatively early in the alphabet.

He waited quietly for over an hour before a staff member approached him and gestured for him to enter one of the offices.

The moment he pushed open the door, Deng Dakang's pupils contracted sharply.

Even he, who had dedicated his life to medicine, was startled by the scene before him.

The room was crammed with all sorts of top-of-the-line equipment.

The latest brainwave detector is connected to a real-time data analysis terminal; the military-grade heart rate monitoring belt can capture the most subtle emotional fluctuations.

There was even a sophisticated instrument he had only seen in internal journals, used to detect the metabolic reactions of trace elements in the human body…

This is not an inquiry; it's clearly treating a person like a precision instrument, disassembling and analyzing them thoroughly from the inside out.

Looking at the stack of reprinted documents in the staff member's hand, thick like a book, Deng Dakang swallowed hard.

How many resources did the higher-ups urgently allocate for this test?

A man in his forties sat in the main seat. When he saw Deng Dakang, he forced a smile.

But his smile was devoid of warmth, as if it had been measured with a ruler, and paired with his thick glasses, it appeared even colder.

“Professor Deng, excuse me.” The man spoke, his voice flat. “My name is Di Taining, and I’m here to assess your physical and mental health. Please put on these sensors first.”

"Okay." Deng Dakang didn't waste any more words.

With the assistance of several military medical personnel, he took off his shirt and let the cold sensor patches be applied to his chest, temples, and other areas.

Throughout the entire process, he remained silent, but it seemed as if a small abacus was clicking away in his mind.

These people were skilled and efficient, clearly having undergone rigorous training and not being temporarily assigned to any particular group.

Then, the other party handed over a capsule.

“A disposable intestinal micro-endocrine element detection robot,” Di Taining explained, still in his businesslike tone.

Looking at the small capsule, Deng Dakang felt a sense of absurdity.

He tilted his head back and swallowed it decisively.

Once everything was ready, with wires hanging all over his body, making him look like a prisoner about to be put on the electric chair, Di Taining finally showed a satisfied expression.

"Professor Deng, I apologize for disturbing you at such an important moment. Let's begin now."

"Please speak." Deng Dakang adjusted his breathing and looked directly at the other person.

"Could you describe in detail the hallucinations you experienced after entering the other world? Please describe them in as much detail as possible."

"Can……"

Deng Dakang began to recount the events, trying his best to recreate the details from his memory.

Di Taining listened while swiping on the tablet.

He nodded occasionally, diligently taking notes.

After Deng Dakang finished speaking, Di Taining adjusted his glasses and said, "Professor Deng, there are a few slight discrepancies in the details of your description this time compared to the previous report, but they are still within the range of normal memory fluctuations."

He changed the subject, his tone now carrying a subtle but palpable sense of pressure.

"Now, let's conduct some psychological assessments."

"Ah."

"Professor Deng, after witnessing the wonders of this other world, have you ever felt disappointed with our adherence to materialism?"

The moment this question was raised, the air in the room seemed to freeze.

Deng Dakang could feel the sensors attached to his body instantly capturing the subtle changes in his heart rate.

He didn't answer immediately; instead, he felt a little like laughing.

“No.” He uttered the two words clearly.

Di Taining narrowed his eyes slightly behind his glasses: "Oh? Can you tell me why?"

"Existence is objectivity." Deng Dakang's voice was crystal clear. "The essence of materialism is never to deny the unknown, but to acknowledge the objective existence of everything and to try to study it, analyze it, and ultimately master it."

Meeting Ditain's scrutinizing gaze, he said frankly, "Whether it's magic or gods from another world, since they exist and can be observed by us, they are part of the objective material world. It's just that we haven't been able to fully analyze the laws governing their existence yet."

"In my view, this precisely proves the breadth and correctness of materialism, not the other way around. It provides us with the theoretical foundation for exploring the entire universe."

After he finished speaking, the office fell into a deathly silence.

Di Taining stared at Deng Dakang for a full three seconds before slowly nodding.

"A brilliant argument, Professor Deng."

He looked down and quickly scribbled something on the tablet, then looked up again, the smile on his lips deepening.

"So, the next question. Professor Deng, what are your views on deities?"

The air in the room was so quiet that you could hear the low-frequency hum of the instruments.

"In my opinion, they are just some powerful special creatures that we cannot understand for the time being," Deng Dakang replied calmly, as if stating a fact.

Di Taining tapped the tablet lightly with his finger, and a new line of text appeared on the screen.

"If such a being could interfere with the workings of nature, reverse local time, modify small sections of the past, or even exist simultaneously in the past, present, and future, how do you think we should deal with such an existence?"

This question made Deng Dakang's eyelids twitch.

He could feel the sensors on his chest detecting a sudden increase in his heart rate.

This is not a mere assumption.

There are indeed gods in other worlds.

Could it be that more clues about the gods have been found in the rear?
He remained silent for a few seconds, his mind racing as he considered how to answer. "It's a real headache," Deng Dakang's voice was somewhat dry. "A supernatural being that can roam freely within the timeline... with current human technology, it's almost impossible to deal with. Any act of resistance could be directly erased because the other party has altered the past. To deal with such an existence, we would probably have to pay a price we can't even imagine."

He paused, then added a sentence, not loud, but it made the temperature in the whole room drop a few degrees.

“We might even be completely destroyed by it. A kind of conceptual annihilation, elimination that has never occurred in Earth's civilization before.”

Di Taining nodded, seemingly satisfied with the answer. He didn't delve deeper, but instead abruptly changed the subject.

"Professor Deng, have you had breakfast today?"

This abrupt question caused Deng Dakang to swallow back all the theories he had prepared, leaving him momentarily stunned.

"I ate. Soy milk, fried dough sticks, and a tea egg."

How do the tea eggs taste?

"..." Deng Dakang looked at him and suddenly found it a bit ridiculous. "The egg white is 70% flavorful and the saltiness is just right. The yolk is a little dry and has a sweet aftertaste, but the center part is a little lacking in flavor, probably because it wasn't braised long enough. Overall, I'd only give it a 7 out of 10."

He analyzed a tea egg in a serious, academic tone.

Di Taining swiped across the tablet without expression, glancing at the fluctuating curves on the adjacent screen. There, Deng Dakang's various physiological indicators were very stable, within the normal range.

Only after confirming that there were no abnormalities did Di Taining's smile become a little more genuine.

“Professor Deng, congratulations, the warm-up is over,” he said. “Now, we’re going to ask some more… offensive questions.”

"Please say."

"If you were presented with an endless stream of opportunities to acquire knowledge, what would you do?"

"Stay away from it!" Deng Dakang said without hesitation.

"why?"

"There's no such thing as a free lunch. And if there were, it would definitely be poisoned."

“But what if, through a series of inexplicable coincidences, you eventually manage to acquire this knowledge?” Di Taining’s tone was enticing.

Deng Dakang remained silent.

He could feel his heart pounding; it was a complex emotion mixed with wariness and longing.

For a scholar, knowledge is his life.

He will not give up on knowledge!

"Well... that's going to be difficult." He finally told the truth.

"You have a great thirst for knowledge?" Dieter Ning asked pointedly.

"No one who studies science doesn't crave knowledge," Deng Dakang frankly admitted. "The more I understand about the universe and the mysteries of the human body, the more I realize how insignificant I am. This insignificance makes me even more eager for the true mysteries!"

"Very good. So, if a wise man appeared in your dream, or at some point in time, claiming to bestow upon you infinite wisdom, how would you respond?"

"Report this. This guy is extremely dangerous!" Deng Dakang's reply was as quick as an instinct. "I will apply to set up a special task force, wait for the right opportunity, and do everything in our power to capture him and extract all the knowledge from his mind!"

These words, brimming with the pragmatism and ruthlessness of a scientist, made the medical staff taking notes nearby look up.

Di Taining sighed, seemingly unsurprised by the answer: "How can you guarantee this isn't a ruse? How can you guarantee that everything you've painstakingly obtained isn't poison wrapped in honey?"

“Any exploration carries risks. Not doing it can guarantee 100% safety, but we will also lose our only chance to learn the truth!” Deng Dakang hesitated for a moment, but his eyes were firm. “Mr. Di, the truth is very important.”

"The truth? Does it really matter that much?"

"That depends on the truth," Deng Dakang suddenly countered. "I'm very curious about the truth of the material world. But from what you're saying... Mr. Di, have we already come into contact with the kind of... higher-dimensional beings you've hypothesized who can freely roam the timeline?"

He astutely seized upon the loophole in the other person's words and threw the question back at them.

Di Taining's smile froze for a moment, then he shook his head: "Professor Deng, you only need to answer my questions. We need you to get rid of this heavy and tedious question-and-answer session as soon as possible, and then return to your post."

Deng Dakang sighed and leaned back in his chair: "Go ahead and ask."

The ensuing interrogation was nothing short of a mental torture.

The problem was extremely trivial.

From the weight of his excrement over the past few days, to whether he's had any colorful dreams, to his favorite medical journal and its issue from which year...

For a full forty minutes, Di Taining, like the most demanding auditor, thoroughly examined Deng Dakang from head to toe.

Finally, he stopped and looked down at the final data chart compiled on the tablet. It was a complex psychological assessment model.

He remained silent for a long time, so long that Deng Dakang thought he could finally end this torment.

Di Taining slowly raised his head, pushed up his glasses, and his gaze behind the lenses pierced through all pretense, going straight to the depths of Deng Dakang's heart.

"One last question, Professor Deng."

His voice was soft, yet it was like a heavy hammer.

"Your granddaughter is injured, and her injuries are very serious."

"If there were a power right now that could instantly heal your granddaughter, but the price would be a memory of another world in your mind... would you trade it?"

……

The night was as dark as ink, and the sky over Zhurihe was growing increasingly cold.

In Li Weiguo's office, he rubbed his throbbing temples and neatly arranged the stacks of work reports in front of him, categorizing them by type.

Each report was stamped with a red "Top Secret" seal on its cover.

Since the emergence of information about a world that might be "Warhammer," the entire department has been working non-stop, and he has been extremely busy.

At this very moment, various plans are being put together.

Another document on the corner of the table contained an outrageous business transaction, with an outrageous business title: "Feasibility Analysis and Preliminary Exploration of the Acquisition of GW Game Workshop in the UK".

Li Weiguo's gaze fell upon those things. He paused, his hand holding the teacup still, and a helpless, bitter smile appeared on his lips.

Who would have thought that the key to determining the future of humanity might fall on a board game company located in a faraway country?

The higher-ups' thinking was straightforward: if they couldn't prevent the arrival of a dark and desperate future in another world, they might as well change the setting from the source.

Invest, acquire controlling stakes, and then find a way to twist those damn storylines.

At least, leave humanity with a happy ending.

This whole thing sounds absurd, like a third-rate joke, but the plans, budget, and executive team list in the report are so real they make your heart sink.

What if?
What if it happens?
The strong tea in the cup had already been brewed for the third time, and the flavor had become much weaker.

Li Weiguo glanced at the clock on the wall; the hands had already passed nine o'clock.

He got up and went to the window, splashing cold water on his face, trying to shake off the accumulated fatigue. Caffeine is a good thing, but it can't be abused; he didn't want to be counting sheep at three or four in the morning.

Regular sleep patterns and a healthy body are the basic guarantees for long-term combat.

Boom!Boom!Boom!
"Come in."

The door opened, and assistant Wang Kaixuan walked in, his face showing undisguised weariness, but his eyes were bright.

"Mr. Li, here is the latest psychological assessment report for highly inspired individuals."

Upon hearing this, Li Weiguo instantly perked up and quickly walked back to his desk. This was the most important task at hand.

He took the thick stack of documents and flipped directly to the top one.

"Upon investigation, no one had any information about those five individuals. Their physical and mental states are perfectly normal... The hallucinations from the other world did not exhibit any unusual manifestations due to the suppression of the energy protection equipment we provided..."

"During consultations with researchers, especially Professor Deng Dakang, he had many valuable qualities, just like many scientists who yearn for truth and knowledge, but no changes that seemed to indicate a distorted or infected mind were found."

"...We subsequently re-evaluated Professor Deng Dakang's values and morality. Professor Deng Dakang possesses an extremely subjective sense of autonomy and a logical identification with his actions. Besides his rather... extreme views on Xiao Rizi, Youyu, and Angsa..."

Li Weiguo turned to the last page of the report, his fingertip lightly tapping the word "extremist," a fleeting smile appearing on his lips.

He pushed the report across the desk, lit a cigarette, and his voice sounded a little hoarse amidst the swirling smoke.

"Xiao Wang, take a look and analyze it."

Wang Kaixuan strode forward, picked up the report, and skimmed through it. When he saw Professor Deng Dakang's comments on "small days, squid, and onsa," the young man tried to keep a straight face, but the corner of his mouth twitched slightly involuntarily.

He closed the report, his expression turning serious again: "President Li, Di Taining and his team are truly experts; they've dug very deep. Since the professional team's assessment is satisfactory, I have no objections."

“The professional team is only responsible for the assessment, not for providing guarantees.” Li Weiguo exhaled a smoke ring, the smoke blurring his tired face. “But the discovery of another world is too important.”

He tapped the table with his fingers, which were holding a cigarette, making a dull sound.

"Let the assessment teams conduct cross-testing, change the approach and the questions, and screen Professor Deng and his team again from the inside out. What we want is absolute safety, and we cannot overlook any possible hidden dangers."

Wang Kaixuan nodded immediately: "Understood!"

“There’s one more thing, you’ll handle personally,” Li Weiguo’s tone hardened. “Immediately conduct another round of background checks on all warriors preparing to enter the other world. Find out exactly how much they know about the ‘Warhammer World.’”

His eyes suddenly sharpened.

"Especially... information about those evil gods. Anyone who knows anything about their settings, even if it's just hearsay, must immediately report it and compile it into a report, making them a top-level focus of attention! Information control should be immediately raised to the highest level!"

“We need to minimize the risks as much as possible!” Li Weiguo stubbed out his cigarette in the ashtray, as if extinguishing a huge threat. “Ignorance is sometimes the best protection. We need to prepare all kinds of contingency plans.”

"Leave the mystical and superstitious stuff to the most professional people to deal with."

Wang Kaixuan's expression was more solemn than ever before; he knew the weight of this matter.

"Yes! I'll do it right away!"

Watching Wang Kai turn and leave, Li Weiguo leaned back in his chair, his gaze sweeping over the report "Feasibility Analysis of the Acquisition of GW Game Workshop in the UK" on the corner of the table.

They went to great lengths to acquire the source, attempting to rewrite the script?

"Can it be done?"

He rubbed his temples, feeling that the whole thing was utterly absurd.

That's an entire world. How can an entire world change just because humans on Earth altered the settings and the script?

He believes that all of this is simply a modern GW creator capturing a corner of another world in their mind and then recording it.

The battle hasn't even started yet, and it's already giving people a huge headache.

Dealing with those strange and quirky creatures is really putting us at a disadvantage.

The good news is that Warhammer isn't well-known in some areas; it's quite niche.

But there's a lot of bad news: many of the monsters and freaks in the Warhammer universe are quite famous, as are some Western science fiction novels.

For example, StarCraft, Cthulhu role-playing games, and various Zerg-based games.

Anyone who goes online in the 21st century is probably familiar with these classic Western concepts!
Once Li Weiguo was the only one left there, looking at all the analyses and investigations, a thought popped into his mind.

Why not some of our unique cultural heritage?

Thinking of this, he smiled bitterly, lit a cigarette, and began to organize and archive this information. The long document was summarized into a dozen sentences, and then he wrote down the arrangements he had added.

I checked the time and figured my boss should already be resting, so I sent the message and then prepared to go to rest.

Just a few minutes later, the phone rang.

Upon seeing the familiar phone number, Li Weiguo closed his eyes in anguish, then took a few deep breaths before answering.

"lead!"
-
The next morning, in the large canteen of Zhurihe, there was a special area for people with high spirituality to gather and eat.

This morning, all those marked as "highly inspired" gathered here for lunch.

Today's table is laden with a dazzling array of otherworldly delicacies, the food presented in works of art, but most people have little appetite.

This is their second day since they began their special investigation, and their third meal of the day.

Wang Hu poked at the fried fish on his plate with his chopsticks; the once delicious food now tasted bland. He leaned closer to Professor Deng Dakang and lowered his voice.

"Professor Deng, are you sure there's nothing wrong? When can we go back to the other world to carry out our mission?"

Yesterday's interrogation, which was comparable to the highest level of political vetting, made everyone feel that something was wrong.

Their contact with the outside world was cut off, and their superiors remained tight-lipped. This feeling of being kept in the dark was more unsettling than facing danger head-on.

Deng Dakang slowly put the scrambled eggs with chili peppers into his mouth and chewed them carefully.

"Don't overthink it, just eat well and rest well." He swallowed his food, his expression unchanged. "Trust the professional assessors; they're more nervous than we are."

"Hey, okay!"

Wang Hu sighed, gave up on the fried fish, and glanced at another corner of the cafeteria.

A dozen or so special advisors from various factions gathered at a table; they were another group of key personnel recalled this time.

To be precise, they are all the special consultants who have drawn special energy circuits behind the scenes.

At this moment, they too were frowning at the table full of otherworldly dishes, and could only communicate silently through their eyes.

Deng Dakang's gaze swept across the crowd as he quietly counted the number of people.

The number of people who came seems to be the same as the number of people who came now.

He breathed a slight sigh of relief.

Fortunately, at least there was no "abnormal staff reduction".

Just as everyone was losing their appetite, Di Taining led in several staff members wearing white coats and with serious expressions.

"Good morning, comrades." Di Taining had a professional smile on his face. "Thank you all for your hard work. There is one last round of supplementary testing today, please bear with us."

A barely audible sigh echoed through the cafeteria.

After breakfast, a new round of testing began.

This time, it was no longer a simple inquiry; the personnel from assessment group one and group two conducted cross-questioning.

The person who asked Deng Dakang yesterday went to test those special advisors today.

But in front of Deng Dakang were a completely new group of faces.

Some issues have become more mundane, but many have become a bit more tricky.

Instead of directly asking your opinion on certain myths and legends, they will present you with some strange and unusual pictures and ask you to describe your associations.

Some of the images resembled chaotic nebulae, others distorted geometric shapes, and still others were symbols of unknown meaning.

Deng Dakang even created a set of scenario simulation questions, one of which was: "When your team is in despair, and a powerful but risky entity promises you power, would you accept it?"

Full of unknown risks?

"Living in despair? The headquarters back home really does have channels I don't know about, and they've discovered information I haven't even heard of yet."

"This information must be extremely sensitive, even kept secret from those of us on the front lines. Is this some kind of 'magical contamination,' or 'meme contamination'? Or is it some strange and eerie thing that, once known, cannot be eliminated?"

While dealing with the test, Deng Dakang's brain was working at lightning speed.

He had a vague idea.

Is it really some kind of meme?

Is headquarters afraid?
Are they afraid of us who have been to other worlds? Afraid that something we shouldn't know has been secretly implanted into our minds, or even our souls?

Deng Dakang thought to himself.

Based on his analysis, he believed he was fairly accurate.

Unfortunately, no one answered him.

After a full day of intense testing, everyone was exhausted.

That evening, Di Taining gathered everyone together again, and this time his smile was noticeably more genuine.

"Congratulations everyone, comrades! You have all passed this assessment!"

A long-suppressed cheer and a sigh of relief suddenly erupted from the crowd.

After everyone quieted down, Di Taining continued, "However, the General Staff has issued new instructions. Due to some special reasons, everyone will need to undergo similar checks and tests regularly in the future to ensure everyone's physical and mental health."

"Furthermore, the content and process of this test must be kept strictly confidential! We must ensure that not a single word of any questions asked in the past two days will be leaked!"

"Does everyone understand?"

"Understood!"

The crowd responded in unison, their voices loud and clear, filled with the relief of surviving a disaster.

"Alright, everyone, you may disperse now." Di Taining waved his hand. "The higher-ups have granted you three days off. Take a good rest here, consider it a paid vacation."

The crowd eventually dispersed.

Wang Hu breathed a sigh of relief and said to Deng Dakang with a smile, "Professor, I can finally get a good night's sleep."

Deng Dakang stared intently at Di Taining's departing figure in the distance.

He patted Wang Hu on the shoulder and said something casually.

"Go to sleep. I'm going to have a chat with some advisors!"
