Chapter 85 - The Attack

Chapter 85 - 85 - The Attack
When they returned to the valley where the Puppet Kingdom was located, the rain had not yet stopped, and the world was a vast expanse of white, filled with damp and cold moisture.

A few raindrops fell on a tattered umbrella, splashing into sparkling spots.

This is a handmade item made by a repairman in the kingdom. Since the puppets are very afraid of rain corroding their bodies and adding some ugly rust, rain gear is a very important thing in the puppet kingdom. Of course, most of the time, apart from the playful children in the children's expedition team, the other puppets are unwilling to go out on rainy days.

Holding an umbrella, Bingyu stood on the lush green grassy slope at the mouth of the valley, looking around until the figure of the black dragon appeared. Only then did she breathe a sigh of relief and shout at the top of her lungs, "Where have you been? You disappeared first thing this morning, giving everyone a fright!"

“I went to Cux and confirmed a few things.” Yvette jumped off the black dragon’s back, splashing water, and waved to the puppets in the distance.

Those were other goblins dressed in strange rain gear: the warden Copperskin, the children's expedition team, the kingdom's tinker, shepherd, and so on. Their mysterious disappearance early in the morning, coupled with the fact that it was raining outside, caused a brief panic in the kingdom, likely linked to a disappearance long ago.

Seeing Yvette return, the puppets chattered amongst themselves, quickly retreating to the dry air-raid shelter. Copper-skinned, stomping through the wet mud, approached anxiously, his wooden raincoat still dripping. "Are you alright, Miss Yvette? What happened?" he asked worriedly.

"It's alright." Yvette smiled gently. Although she was unlikely to encounter any truly dangerous situations anymore, the concern shown by Copper Skin and the other golems still made her feel a sense of human warmth, like that of a real human society.

Compared to nine years ago when she had just left the Puppet Kingdom of Agasher, now that she has lived in Kux for many years, she no longer thinks about whether these emotional expressions are real or fake. At least until the truth is revealed, she will assume that everything is real.

Then, repeating what she had said to Bingyu, she continued, "...I have confirmed the general situation in Cooksne."

Upon hearing this, both Bingyu and Tongpi were taken aback. Bingyu immediately asked, "What's going on?"

"Miss Yvette, are you sure?" Copperskin was somewhat incredulous. Kux's secret was a long-standing mystery for the Puppet Kingdom, and it had even caused the loss of a Holy Grace's combat ally. Although it didn't believe Yvette would lie, it couldn't stop it from thinking that Miss Yvette might have made a mistake.

“It’s actually quite simple. The Cooks are an arms factory for a group of alien mutant forces. Their lair is in the Abyss North Sea, where they produce mountain whales. After the mountain whales hatch, they continuously return to the Abyss North Sea along the route. That’s the whole truth,” Yvette said.

"Is that so!" Copper Skin immediately believed it. In its simple mind, this answer was already quite astonishing. It couldn't be a mistake or made up. It said gratefully, "Everyone's doubts over the years have finally been answered. Thank you, Miss Yvette! I must tell everyone the answer right away!"

"That's it?" Bingyu felt it lacked excitement and suspense.

"What else do you want?" Dugrabi said unhappily. It had almost been killed by the Spider Witch to get this answer. Although the result would be the same whether it was there or not, it didn't stop it from feeling that it had made a contribution.

"Uh... it's alright, just not legendary enough. It would be even better if a huge crisis came and we solved it ourselves, that would be more like an adventure..." Bingyu daydreamed.

“You naive fellow,” Dugrabi said dismissively. “Do you think reality is a story made up by bards?”

"Are you very mature?" Bingyu said unhappily.

"of course."

"Why don't I think so? Just a few years ago he was pretending not to understand human speech and breathing on people every day." Bingyu said with a pout, then waited for a while and did not hear a response from the black dragon. She turned her head and saw that the black dragon was looking in a certain direction behind him, frozen there as if petrified.

what happened?
Ice Rain paused slightly, followed its gaze, turned and looked out of the valley. She then saw several dark dots rapidly approaching from the direction of Cooks, which was shrouded in rain.

As time went on, those tiny dots grew larger and clearer, until finally, what Bingyu saw were all mountain whales!

A pod of whales?

But why is it heading straight towards the kingdom?
"A pod of whales is coming! Hide!"

A chaotic cacophony of shouts filled the air; clearly, the other kingdom's golems had also noticed the terrifying situation and were urging everyone else to quickly seek shelter in the air-raid shelter.

Bingyu swallowed hard, suddenly remembering what she had just said. It had come true, but she couldn't feel happy at all.

This doesn't seem like a crisis we can handle... she thought nervously, instinctively turning to look at the kind lady, only to find Yvette standing calmly at the valley entrance, neither dodging nor avoiding, as if waiting for the whales to arrive.

……

Standing atop the Mountain Whale Lord, the purple-clad commander, clad in chitinous armor, gazed in a certain direction among the distant mountains, his eyes narrowing slightly, revealing a cruel glint in his eyes.

He actually knew the location of the Puppet Kingdom a long time ago. After all, he had been stationed in Kux for many years. If he didn't even know this kind of information, then he would be too much of a failure as the leader.

So when Abella reported on the mysterious silver-haired girl, he guessed that she might be in the Puppet Kingdom, or that there was some connection between them.

Normally, the progenitors and the machine race keep to themselves; that mysterious silver-haired girl couldn't even defeat Abella, let alone deserve his attention. But not long ago, Abella, after completing her ascension, suddenly disappeared from the Pale Mother Nest's senses—this was a major event.

Perhaps a fifth-stage lord is not that important to the King of the Sea, but it is different for the Purple Commander. This will greatly affect the overall strength of his Aberration Legion, and thus affect his status in the King of the Sea's eyes.

Therefore, he must resolve this matter, and the best solution is to transform the culprit into nourishment, feeding it to produce one or even two new lords in order to make up for the loss.

As for keeping a low profile... the opponent is just a fifth-stage lord, not a sixth-stage commander. What's there to be afraid of? Do you think he can let the opponent escape if he takes action himself?

The whale pod continued forward, and the narrow valley became clearer and clearer. Gradually, with her amazing eyesight, the Purple Commander noticed the silver-haired girl standing motionless at the valley entrance, a smile appearing on her anthropomorphic face.

"That's interesting," he muttered to himself.

On his way there, he had made many assumptions, his biggest worry being what to do if the other party had already escaped. It seemed that he had no choice but to accept his bad luck. But what he didn't expect was that the other party didn't run away at all, and even waited in the same spot.

What does this mean? Doesn't she know how much of a reaction killing the lord will cause?

Or perhaps she lacked the confidence to escape, so she chose to surrender and serve in Abella's place?
Thinking this through, Commander Zi felt the answer was obvious: as long as the silver-haired girl wasn't stupid, she must have come to surrender.

So today's incident wasn't a loss for Abella, but rather using Abella as nourishment to feed one's excellent new subordinate...

That doesn't sound so bad.

Soon, the massive pod of whales covered the entire valley like a dark, iron cloud, completely swallowing up the daylight.

Still standing atop the Mountain Whale Lord's head, the Fishman Lord stood respectfully beside him, while the Purple Commander looked down at the girl below and said indifferently, "Have you come to submit?"

Yvette looked at it calmly without answering.

It wasn't that she didn't want to answer, but she found that this sixth-stage commander of Cooks spoke with an accent and mumbled something incomprehensible, leaving her bewildered.

I don't know if it's the Emerald Isle accent or the Silver Mirror Isle accent, but it's definitely a foreign accent... Thinking about it, maybe when Commander Purple took a liking to Spider Woman, he also needed a local translator...

On the other side, seeing Yvette remain silent, Commander Zi became even more certain of his thoughts, believing that the silver-haired girl either acquiesced or was terrified. He then said, "Since you have submitted, the previous matter can be dealt with leniently, but you still have to accept some punishment."

The hierarchical relationship among the divine offspring was entirely controlled by the maternal nest, unlike the monarchical system in humans, and there was practically no affection between them. However, rules still needed to be in place; otherwise, could the fact that subordinates were exploiting each other simply because it was a transfer of nutrients be allowed to continue unchecked?
“…?” Yvette still didn’t understand what this guy was saying. Then she saw the Purple Commander glance at the fish man next to him. The fish man immediately jumped down from the head of the Mountain Whale Lord as if he had received an order, with a cruel smile on his face.

“I advise you not to struggle, or the one who will punish you will not be me, but Lord Zi,” the fish-man said, his accent was better so that Yvette could hear him clearly.

"What did you say?" Yvette asked in surprise.

Behind her, Dugrabi, Bingyu, and Tongpi, who was secretly peeking out from the cave wall, all pricked up their "ears" to try and find out what was going on.

"I said, I'm going to punish you, so you'd better behave!" the fish man repeated impatiently.

He had a few brief encounters with Yvette, but he didn't think she could definitely beat him. As for Abella's disappearance... Abella must have been too weak.

Then, seeing Yvette's surprised and thoughtful expression, the fish-man didn't stand on ceremony and walked over directly, conjuring a trident made of solid ice in his hand.

This is one of his innate abilities. This ice trident looks like it's just solidified ice, but its strength is actually ridiculously high, comparable to some military alloy materials from the Origin Civilization era. And it doesn't need repair; if it breaks, a new one is simply formed—it's extremely useful.

He planned to use the trident to stab the silver-haired girl who had harassed him several times into the ground, then rip out some flesh as punishment for depriving her of nourishment. Although it was rather unsightly to use such torture on a beautiful girl, the fragments of human memories in his mind contained many images of serious criminals, making him surprisingly adept at doing this.

"Be honest!"

As he said this, the fish-man thrust his trident toward the silver-haired girl. He thought that under the commander's watchful eye, everything would go smoothly as expected. But the next second, before the purple commander and the others could react to what had happened, the fish-man flew back like a cannonball at a speed that was almost invisible to the naked eye, crashing headfirst into the belly of the mountain whale lord and nearly knocking the mountain whale lord down from the sky as well.

I had some things to do today, so this update was rushed. I'll stop here for now and revise it tomorrow. It'll be available next Friday, so please come and support it!
