Chapter 54 Taking Wangzhuang
Under the persuasion of Lü Ming and Lou Xiang, the garrison in the corner tower successfully completed the switch of sides.

They didn't have the guts to lead a rebellion.

But if you were to say they were thieves, they really had no psychological burden whatsoever, after all, the two big holes in Lu Ming and the others' ears were still bleeding.

Today, all the brothers in the camp witnessed the horrific scene of Lü Ming and others being bound like rice dumplings, with arrows stuck in their ears, and paraded through the streets.

The village steward behind them wouldn't let it go, chasing after them and punching and kicking them while cursing them with insults like "bandit soldiers," "scoundrels," and "peasants."

The soldiers were all seething with anger, but none of them dared to utter a sound.

Who hasn't been oppressed during their years of military service and receiving rations? Just bear with it, it will pass.

But when someone actually steps forward to lead an uprising, the anger that has been suppressed in their hearts ignites like dry tinder, determined to burn everything in front of them to ashes.

Lu Ming and Lou Xiang charged forward, shouting "The royal army is here!"

Seeing the two men charging menacingly towards them, the soldiers on the city wall quickly drew their swords, held them horizontally in front of them, and shouted sternly:

"Lu Ming, Lou Xiang, where did these guys come from?"

"You two betrayed us?! You became our spies?!"

Lü Ming laughed heartily, quite pleased with himself:

"What do you mean by 'traitor'?! That's such a nasty way of putting it! This is the royal army under the command of our border brothers!"

"They even came to our Jingbian camp last time and recruited a lot of deserters back!"

The opposing garrison, upon hearing this, paused for a moment, then suddenly realized:

"But what about that loyalist army in Yansui? Those ruthless men who killed the general?"

Lü Ming nodded:
"Exactly! Why don't you quickly surrender to the royal army? From now on, we'll guarantee you three meals a day, and you'll never go hungry!"

"Hey, you should have said so earlier!"

For these low-ranking soldiers, who they surrendered to wasn't really important; as long as they could get food, they were content.

The group chuckled, tossed aside their waist knives, and prepared to join the group.

Suddenly someone slapped their forehead and exclaimed:

"Oh no, our brothers have defected. Does that mean there are also our Jingbian Camp men below the city wall?"

He quickly shouted at the guard beside him:
"Quick! Tell them to stop fighting. They're all on the same side, don't ruin the harmony!"

This shout startled many people on the city wall, who then put away their weapons, and some even ran over and surrendered to the enemy on the spot.

Seeing that the situation was very favorable, Jiang Han nodded with satisfaction. With this, the city wall would definitely be captured smoothly.

Just then, a squad of swordsmen and shieldmen suddenly rushed out from the watchtower above the city gate, brandishing long spears and charging towards them menacingly.

The leader was a guerrilla general surnamed Liu, who led about a hundred men in a military formation to block their path.

After all, there were still people who did not want to become thieves, and these people were mostly military officers.

The swordsmen and shieldmen formed a shield wall, advancing step by step towards Jiang Han's side, pressing him relentlessly, and occasionally throwing javelins, causing Jiang Han's troops to retreat repeatedly and lose their footing.

Seeing this, Jiang Han shouted loudly behind him:
"Quick! Throw the thunderbolt!"

This was something he had his craftsmen work on for a long time before they finally made it. Ever since he got gunpowder back from the Li family, he had been thinking about how to quickly enhance their combat effectiveness.

Several craftsmen thought for a long time before coming up with this idea.

Simply put, this thing is incredibly effective at breaking through small military formations.

As more than a dozen thunderbolts were thrown out, the swordsmen and shieldmen in front were thrown into disarray, and they hurriedly leaned against the city wall and raised their long shields to protect themselves.

Even so, they were still stunned and disoriented, and their formation completely collapsed. Taking advantage of this opening, Jiang Han took the lead and charged forward with his men.

The guerrilla general recovered his senses and hurriedly organized a counterattack, but without the shield wall, how could they be a match for Jiang Han and his men?

Hei Zi, relying on his agility, specifically targeted those who were alone. He wielded his long knife with great force, and in the blink of an eye, he had taken down several people.

Jiang Han was even more direct. He picked up a shield that had fallen to the ground, raised it, and charged wildly like a bull, knocking over several people and throwing them off the city wall.

The guerrilla general was unwilling to give up and wanted to lead his men to besiege Jiang Han, but Lu Ming seized the opportunity and pierced his chest with a javelin, killing him on the spot.

With Liu Youji dead, the garrison on the city wall instantly lost its leader and quickly surrendered after being persuaded by Lü Ming and others.

With the surrender of the defenders on the city wall, Li Laowai and Dong Erzhu below the city gate immediately felt much less pressure.

The two men's armor was riddled with arrows, making them look like hedgehogs, and the infantry around them also suffered heavy casualties.

Seeing that the rain of arrows and pebbles overhead had stopped, the two men exchanged a glance and their spirits lifted: Lord Jiang had succeeded!
Shao Yong, who was in the distance, also noticed that the figures on the city wall had disappeared, leaving the place empty under the firelight.

He waited cautiously for a while longer, making sure no one was firing arrows downwards, before ordering his men to head to the city gate and join the vanguard in a fierce attack.

At this moment, Zhao Hongbin, who was at the city gate, was sweating profusely with anxiety. His subordinate, the squad leader, came running up breathlessly to report:

"Lord Zhao, something terrible has happened! A band of bandits has appeared out of nowhere, killed Liu Youji, and has already occupied the city wall!"

Upon hearing this, Zhao Hongbin's vision went black, and he nearly collapsed.

With the city walls breached, he was now caught in a pincer movement, facing enemy soldiers both above and the city gates in front of him on the verge of collapse.

As the bandits outside the city gate repeatedly rammed against it, the bolts blocking the gate were visibly deforming and breaking.

Seeing that things were going badly, he decisively gave the order:

"Quickly, demolish all the houses next to it and use these bricks to block the city gate!"

But just then, Steward Sun, who was hiding to the side, suddenly jumped out and rushed forward to stop Zhao Hongbin:
"You surnamed Zhao, what do you think you're doing?! This is Wangzhuang's property. You'll be punished if you touch even a single penny! Don't touch it!"

Zhao Hongbin was furious, pointing his finger at Steward Sun and yelling:
"You damned lackey! With a formidable enemy at hand, you're still thinking about your property? Have you lost your mind?! Don't you value your life?!"

"Drag him away!"

Upon receiving the order, the guards immediately stepped forward to drag Steward Sun away.

But this man surnamed Sun was like a madman, relentless and hurling insults at me.

"You bunch of petty thieves, you scoundrels!"

"You can't even defend a city, what use are you?! You even want to demolish the houses in my Wangzhuang? Let me tell you, don't even think about it!"

"You wait here until I get out."

Before he could finish speaking, an arrow flew overhead and struck him squarely on the forehead with a "whoosh".

Manager Sun stared wide-eyed in disbelief, then collapsed and died on the spot.

Zhao Hongbin looked in the direction of the arrow and saw Jiang Han standing on the city wall, holding a longbow and staring coldly at them, with bandits standing behind him.

Jiang Han coldly stared at Zhao Hongbin in the crowd and said in a deep voice:

"Whoever surrenders will avoid death!"
