Chapter 66 Sleeping Beauty
Chapter 66 Sleeping Beauty
After the last class in the afternoon, the classroom immediately became noisy.
Everyone was packing up their things, with clubs and private schools accounting for half of their destinations, and only a few were heading home.
The hot girl from Class 1, Rion, walked in from the back door of the classroom, came to the seat where Jun Matsueda was sitting, squatted down and looked at Jun Matsueda sitting there.
"Does Matsue have any news about Nozomi? She hasn't come to class for a week since school started, and we haven't received a response when we tried to contact her."
Liyin didn't say anything else, the worry on her face evident. She nervously twirled the hair tie on her wrist. She and Mochizuki Haruka had bought it together; hers was pink, and Mochizuki's was black and white with polka dots.
Matsueda Jun didn't ask why she came to him. He put the textbook into his schoolbag and said, "There's nothing wrong with Mochizuki Haruka. She just has some family matters. She will come to school in a while."
"Okay, thank you Songeda-kun!" The girl stood up and reported the situation to a group of students hiding outside the back door.
The seats had not been changed yet, and Mizushima Miya was still sitting to the right of Matsueda Jun, writing furiously in her exercise book. She only looked up when Matsueda Jun walked out the back door with his schoolbag.
Mizushima Miya put down his pen, sighed, looked at the blackboard at the front of the classroom, then turned his head to look at the seats across the row to his left. The girl had not left yet.
"Youhua, are you going to stay depressed like this forever?"
Tomatsu Tomoka sat in her seat, looking down at the textbook that had just been distributed. She looked paler than before the holiday, and her cheeks had an unhealthy blush.
"Besides the confession, what else happened between you and Songeda?"
The girl didn't speak.
Jun Matsueda walked out of the school gate but did not go to the bicycle shed. He did not ride his bike after school now, so someone would return the bike to the downstairs of his apartment building.
He walked along the ramp at the door for a while, then turned right and walked into the alley. A black car stopped at the end and he opened the back door.
The car was driving quite fast, but Jun Matsueda felt very calm sitting in the car, and he didn't feel dizzy even when looking at the textbook.
Before entering Haneda High School, Jun Matsueda would never have imagined that he would be living in a car every day as a freshman.
"How is Wangyue Yao today?" he asked the bodyguard sitting in the front row. The man in the suit no longer called him Young Master.
The man shook his head. "The young lady is still the same today. She has been sitting by Ms. Hua's bed without making any moves."
Jun Matsueda continued to read with his head down. In order to solve the big problem of Haruka Mochizuki, he quit all his part-time jobs except the one at the escape house.
The black car drove north and passed Myojuji Temple. There is a group of temples at the junction of Suginami Ward and Setagaya Ward. This was the first time Jun Matsueda saw one.
After two turns, the car stopped at Toriyama Hospital affiliated with Showa University. After her aunt's condition stabilized, Mochizuki Haruka transferred her to this hospital with better conditions.
I walked into the lobby and took the elevator to the top floor. This floor was full of VIP wards. There were not many people there and it was very quiet.
Even though he had been there many times, Jun Matsueda was still not used to the smell of disinfectant in the hospital. It was a smell that seemed to completely erase all evidence of human existence.
Pushing open the door at the end of the corridor, he discovered a spacious, bright space with only a single bed. A young girl sat on a chair beside the bed, her upper body slumped over the quilt, her figure appearing exceptionally frail.
Matsueda Jun walked over quietly and first saw the woman lying on the hospital bed. Mochizuki had her eyes closed, her long eyelashes rising and falling with her breathing. Her expression was peaceful, devoid of her usual girlish liveliness. She looked like a sleeping beauty in a crystal coffin, endearing and lovable.
He turned his head again and looked at the girl lying on the bed. Mochizuki Haruka was not sleeping peacefully, her brows furrowed, deep tear marks on her face, her breathing intermittent, and her short-sleeved shirt drooped to one side, revealing the thin white shoulder straps.
When Matsueda Jun tugged at her collar to straighten her clothes, the girl woke up and looked at him with sleepy eyes.
Jun Matsueda blinked and spread his hands to prove his innocence, but the girl suddenly pounced on him and hugged him around the waist.
"What if Auntie doesn't wake up?" Her voice trembled violently.
The girl looked up at Matsueda Jun, her eyes were bloodshot, and restless parasites were swimming in the originally clear water.
Jun Matsueda let her go, put her on the chair, walked to the door, turned off the lights in the ward, and stood in the bright corridor waving to Haruka Mochizuki.
"Let's change the environment and calm down."
Standing on the rooftop at this time, it was already quite chilly. Mochizuki Haruka was only wearing short sleeves, and having not rested well, she shivered a little when the wind blew. Matsueda Jun went downstairs, asked the nurse for a light blanket and a folding recliner, and returned to the rooftop.
Wang Yueyao stood on the edge of the rooftop and looked back at him who came in from the door. It was a very cloudy day today, and there were thick dark clouds above the girl's head, making it hard for her to breathe.
When Matsueda Jun walked over to her and put down the recliner, the girl asked him, with a tone of loss and resentment in her voice.
"Why did you bring me to the rooftop and leave me alone? Aren't you afraid that I'll jump? Or do you simply not care?"
With his back to Mochizuki Haruka, Matsueda Jun busied himself setting up the recliner. Without turning his head, he said, "Because I understand you. Your aunt is still lying in the hospital bed. How could you possibly abandon her and jump off a building?" The unexpected answer dispelled the girl's resentment, and even some of her other negative emotions diminished. A white blanket swayed in front of her, obscuring her vision.
"What are you standing there for? Lie down." Jun Matsueda stood behind the recliner.
Mochizuki Haruka was worried about her aunt's condition and lay down on the soft chair absent-mindedly. Matsueda Jun slowly pulled down the upper part, and the scene in front of her eyes slid from the gloomy city to the gray sky.
"Take off your shoes yourself."
The girl raised her upper body and looked back at him. Matsueda Jun glanced at her and said, "What? Are you afraid that I'll sniff it secretly?"
Mochizuki Haruka bent up a little shyly, took off her black loafers, revealing her small feet in white socks, her toes twisting restlessly.
"Lie down."
The girl lay on the soft chair, feeling like a fish on a chopping board, about to be slaughtered by Matsueda Jun.
The fabric fluttered in the air as Matsueda Jun lifted the thin blanket and covered the girl with it. The length was just right, leaving only her head exposed.
With his whole body wrapped up, the cold emptiness in Mochizuki Haruka's body began to fade away.
"Close your eyes."
The girl obediently closed her eyes and fell into darkness, the sounds of the city amplified in her mind.
The traffic on the road, the chirping of various insects in summer, the chirping of crickets is particularly obvious, the singing of birds, the noisy crows, and the sound of airplanes gliding low over the sky.
There is also the sound of wind and trees colliding around the entire city, which does not sound like the everyday rustling sound, but a background sound like the sound of rain.
There was also the slow and peaceful breathing of Jun Matsueda behind her.
Mochizuki Haruka felt her body gradually sinking.
Matsueda Jun listened to the girl's soft snoring. It seemed like she had slept well this time. The white noise was really effective. He put on his headphones and started listening to English listening.
When Wangyue Yao opened her eyes, it was already after sunset. In front of her was a young man lying on the railing. The light became dim, and his blurry back swayed in the wind.
"Don't go." Her voice was weak.
"Awake?" Matsueda Jun turned around and looked at her. "You were asleep just now, without any movement, and covered with a white sheet. You really looked like you were dead."
The girl was suddenly awakened by the anger. She sat up from the recliner, lifted the blanket, and put on her shoes silently.
Jun Matsueda wondered how many times he had to mention death in front of the girl before she would be mentally prepared to face the possible reality.
"Let's go down and see how our aunt is sleeping."
Although there were only two silent people in the elevator, Mochizuki Haruka looked around, her face turned a little red, and she turned her whole body towards Matsueda Jun.
"The lounge chair and blanket on the rooftop, thank you."
Jun Matsueda was still looking at his phone and memorizing words, and just nodded.
"Also, don't misunderstand what happened in the ward. I was just still half asleep."
He recalled that the girl was probably talking about the hug.
When they reached the door of the ward, they found that the light inside was on and they could hear the nurse's voice.
Mochizuki Haruka rushed into the ward, and one of her shoes fell off because she was not wearing it properly. Matsueda Jun picked it up and followed her.
Wang Yuehua was wearing a loose hospital gown, revealing her private parts. The electrode patch on her head had fallen under the bed. She stood on the bed and "fought" with the nurse beside it.
"Ms. Mochizuki, you can't just go out like that; the doctor needs to come and check on you."
When the aunt saw the two people entering the room, her eyes lit up.
"I'm hungry, let's eat!"
I feel like everyone's in a rush these days, so I wanted to clarify that my aunt's illness can't possibly be cured so easily.
