Chapter 601: Noise
The launch event for StarCraft has ended, but the buzz surrounding E3 is far from over.

As is customary, the prime time slot for pre-exhibition press conferences is always a highly competitive area.

Following Starfall, the next to appear was one of the three giants of the gaming industry, Nintendo.

Inside another main arena of the Los Angeles Convention Center, the lighting was soft and the atmosphere was equally enthusiastic, with most of the fans present being loyal Nintendo supporters.

They eagerly anticipate Mario's next adventure and a brand new legend for Zelda.

Reggie Fils-Aimé, president of Nintendo of America, walked onto the stage with his signature confident smile, greeted by polite and enthusiastic applause from the audience.

"Welcome to Nintendo's E3 Direct!" Reggie Fils-Aimé opened his arms wide, his voice booming. "We have many surprises for you. Are you ready to enter the world of Nintendo games?"

"YES!"

Everything was the same as in previous years; the process was familiar, and the atmosphere was lively.

A series of trailers began playing on the big screen.

At this year's E3, Nintendo's main game was "Super Smash Bros. Ultimate," and there wasn't much other news about it.

This can't really be blamed on Nintendo.

Since starting its own online Direct in 11, Nintendo has rarely revealed many new titles when participating in these international exhibitions.

It's pretty much the same thing; it's just releasing a new PV for a game that's still in development.

Nintendo has done this year after year without any major problems. Even if the clips are a little off, they still manage to get by.

However, this year seemed a little different. Reggie was enthusiastically introducing the new characters in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on stage, but the applause from the audience was not very enthusiastic.

Even in the audience, many reporters were writing furiously, but if you looked closely, they weren't even writing Nintendo's articles.

"...That concludes all the surprises we've prepared for you! Thank you for coming, and see you at the exhibition!"

After Nintendo's pre-show press conference ended, Reggie was quickly surrounded by a group of reporters. He maintained a professional smile and prepared to answer questions about Super Smash Bros. or other games.

However, the first question took him by surprise.

"Mr. Reggie, I'm a reporter from Famitsu. What are your thoughts on Black Myth: Wukong, which was announced earlier today at the StarCraft Games press conference? Will Nintendo consider collaborating with StarCraft Games or Game Science to bring this game to the Switch platform in the future?"

Reggie paused for a moment, but his smile remained unchanged.

He didn't actually watch the Starry Sky press conference, but he did know that it had generated a huge response.

Or rather, after the StarCraft E3 pre-show press conference, most people who follow the gaming industry were discussing StarCraft's press conference.

“It was a very, very good presentation,” Reggie’s answer was impeccable. “StarCraft Games showcased their amazing creativity. Its visual style and action design were impressive. We have always been open to all excellent third-party games, and Nintendo is happy to see more high-quality games on our platform.”

A perfect official statement.

But the reporters were clearly not satisfied with that.

“Mr. Reggie, IGN has a question.” Another reporter squeezed in. “Mr. Chu Chen’s speaking style at the press conference was very unique, and you could even say it subverted people’s impressions of game company CEOs. Do you think this ‘player-style’ communication style is imitating the style of Nintendo’s star CEOs throughout the years?”

Another question about stars, and this one is very difficult to answer.

“Every company has its own corporate culture and communication style.” Reggie’s brow furrowed slightly as he answered this question, but the next question did not improve his expression.

"Mr. Reggie, StarCraft Games mentioned in an interview at the press conference that the remastering plan had been discussed with..."

For the next ten minutes, almost half of the questions revolved around the stars.

Some people asked if Nintendo felt emerging pressure from the East, and some even asked Reggie Fils-Aimé himself if he found it boring for the CEO to read PowerPoint presentations.

The atmosphere at the interview became somewhat awkward.

Despite being Nintendo's home turf, the event was turned into a "post-screening Q&A session" for the StarCraft games launch event.

This is actually an inevitable result of the media's pursuit of traffic.

It's no wonder the media is so pragmatic; E3 is a major exhibition with hundreds of exhibitors every year, and the press conferences are non-stop.

Everyone's time and space are limited. Whoever can come up with the most sensational and talked-about content will get the most exposure.

This year's E3 presentation by Nintendo was clearly not exciting enough.

While Nintendo's press conferences in previous years weren't great, none of them were as outrageous as StarCraft's. This year's StarCraft E3 pre-show press conference definitely exceeded many people's expectations.

When Black Myth had a good reputation but failed to win Game of the Year, the media at home and abroad were in the same boat, relentlessly questioning the judges of TGA and producers from other companies, trying to pry out some controversial opinions.

The principle is the same, and at this moment, Nintendo is playing the role of the "interviewee".

Reggie certainly understood this principle; he had been in the industry for many years and had seen all sorts of situations.

I understand it, but I still feel really frustrated.

It must have been a bitter pill to swallow to swallow your own home ground and your own moment of glory, only to have it all stolen by an opponent in another arena, and to be relegated to the background.

What Reggie didn't know was that, given the situation he had just encountered...
Reggie's experience is not an isolated case.

Sean Rheden, head of Sony Interactive Entertainment’s U.S. operations, has just emerged from a similar media “siege.”

However, in stark contrast to Reggie's situation, Sean was in a rather good mood at the moment.

When the first reporter handed him the microphone and asked for his opinion on the Starry Night Games pre-show press conference, Sean gave a thumbs up almost without hesitation.

"A phenomenal press conference!"

When a reporter asked.

"Mr. Sean, so this collaboration was initiated by Sony? Giving the grand finale of the press conference to a third-party manufacturer is unprecedented in E3 history."

Sean nodded without hesitation.

"of course."

"Our collaboration with StarCraft is based on a shared vision for the future," Sean said to the camera.

"This is not just a collaboration between two companies, but a passionate collision of top-tier game concepts from the East and West. We are proud to provide a stage for such a creative partner as StarCraft. The PlayStation stage is always open to great games!"
