Chapter 72 The Real Disaster

As Michael finished speaking, the white light gradually faded away.

The somewhat bewildered farmer opened his eyes and asked curiously, "Has His Majesty... left?"

Leon could no longer sense that holy light. He nodded gently. "Yes, He has left! He will bring the demons to their due punishment, and we must now begin our battle!"

Before them was a terrifying heatwave that was already hitting their faces.

The lava, reaching temperatures of several thousand degrees, surged like rolling waves, overflowing the plaza and relentlessly flowing into the depths of the prison.

They could even hear the screams of the prison guards and inmates!

Yes, it was screams of agony!
Although the lava hasn't reached the prison yet, private disputes have already begun.

This is, after all, the darkest and most terrifying prison in New York. The people here are not nice gentlemen, but a group of vicious criminals!

Under normal circumstances, they could barely maintain the distinction between prison guards and prisoners. However, with the eruption of lava, the crowds and the threat of death, these people involuntarily began their own "battle royale"!
Those at the back wanted to push their way to the front, while those with grudges wanted to use this opportunity to send their enemies to hell.

Not to mention the prison guards and prisoners who were already at odds; even though the guards had guns, they couldn't withstand the crowds around them.

Countless people were left behind because they were too heavy or couldn't run fast!
The worst thing was that when some prison guards realized they had no way to escape, they brazenly opened fire!

The ugliness of human nature was on full display in them, with gunshots, screams, cries, and roars ringing out incessantly!
Most importantly, apart from Jeff, who had never been to prison, the other two inmates could even guess what was happening inside from these sounds!
Leon looked somewhat dejected. "We want to save them, but they themselves... seem to have no regard for their own lives..."

The farmer said softly, "Isn't that what humanity is like? There are noble people who can give up their lives, like you, and there are lowly people who are like dust, like them..."

"Once they have this thought, they've already lost their right to be saved, haven't they?"

Upon hearing this, Leon was completely stunned and asked him curiously, "Are you really a farmer? I feel like you're more like a priest?"

Even he only learned about these things through those two dreamlike memories, while the man in front of him clearly had no such inheritance.

The fact that he can say such things shows that he has a teacher.

“Of course I’m a farmer!” the man said with a smile. “I was raised by a priest. He introduced me to the Lord I believe in, and he taught me all this!”

"Raised by a priest?" Lyon's eyes suddenly lit up. "Then do you know how we should guide this divine power? The Three Holy Powers that His Holiness Michael spoke of?"

"I don't know!" the man shook his head. "But perhaps we can ask someone else for help!"

He looked at Jeff, "We need the city's help, because destruction could come at any moment!"

……

Manhattan, along the East River.

Despite his reluctance, Stephen brought the police officers here.

The mayor, governor, and president have all just received news that the great demon "Baphomet" has descended upon the land!

This strange arrival made it hard for them not to think of the terrible storm disaster that had struck neighboring Los Angeles.

If it weren't for the existence of the rain god Traloc, Los Angeles would be a ruin by now. They didn't dare gamble on whether this place would also become like that, so they forced Stephen to come and take a look.

The police helicopter had already taken off with a "clattering" sound, and after circling the East River twice, it brought a brand new message!

They brought in a news anchor named "Jeff," a man who held important intelligence.

"Sir, he's the one who claims to have witnessed the entire Rikers Island incident!" The officer brought him to Stephen.

"Hello, Chief Stephen!" Jeff greeted the police chief calmly. This wasn't the first time he had dealt with the chief; many of his crazy antics and live streams were in New York, so he had naturally seen the chief many times.

Stephen was somewhat surprised. "Crazy Mr. Jeff? You were here tonight?"

"In fact, I just jumped from a height of two thousand meters while the demons and paladins were fighting!" Jeff shrugged. "You know, this kind of thing is normal for me!"

That's perfectly normal. In Stephen's memory, this crazy anchor had done far more crazy things, so this was nothing compared to that.

But today is clearly different; he is actually connected to this particular crisis, which surprised Stephen.

Moreover, the police have been receiving reports from the police one after another tonight. Jeff did indeed livestream a scene they all know about, the arrival of the demon, and most importantly, the arrival of "Baphomet"!
“You know what happened next, right?” Stephen asked Jeff.

"Yes, later this great demon tried many ways to coerce Mr. Leon, but he defused them all with his words. In the end, we witnessed the arrival of Archangel Michael!" Jeff said with boundless fervor. "His Majesty Michael successfully drove away the demon!"

"Michael?" Stephen and the surrounding police officers were stunned!

They had just finished a crash course on Baphomet, all thanks to Professor Thomas's instruction!
Now Jeff is telling them that not only have demons come, but angels have come too?

“Yes, angels have descended!” Jeff said. “If you can save those people in the prisons during this disaster, they can tell you these things too, because they were there too!”

"Wait, what is disaster?" Stephen, sensing this, asked loudly.

Before Jeff could explain, someone else had already spoken for him!
"Sir, there has been intense geological activity on Rikers Island. A volcano has erupted on the island!" A police officer brought this news.
"Geological activity? Volcano? What? Is it April Fool's Day?" Stephen found the whole thing absurd. "This is New York, not Yellowstone National Park. Where would a volcano come from? There aren't even any mountains on Rikers Island!"

"Look!" The officer didn't say much and simply handed over the tablet in his hand!

Stephen took the tablet, and sure enough, he saw a view taken from above on the screen: a small volcano was violently spewing lava right in front of him, covering the small piece of land on Rikers Island with molten obsidian!

Jeff's voice came at just the right moment, "This is a disaster left behind by the devil. Mr. Lyon said that if we can't stop this disaster, these lava will never stop erupting and may even cover the entire city of New York!"

"My hair?" Stephen exclaimed in shock. "Covering all of New York? Are you kidding me?"

"It's obvious, Director, that I'm not joking!"

Behind Jeff, the red of Rikers Island became increasingly conspicuous, with orange-red lava gushing out of the bridge at a visible speed and then falling into the sea!
"Stab!"

The sounds of boiling seawater and cooling lava were incessant, and the boiling seawater and rising steam turned Stephen's fears into reality!
“First, it’s the more than 10,000 people on the island, then Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens… and finally, the whole of New York!” Jeff said urgently. “This is a real disaster, Chief Stephen! We need to act quickly!”

The rising water vapor, illuminated by the morning sun, radiated a myriad of colors!

The steam was scalding hot, but to these police officers, it felt a chill far more intense than the coldest winter month!
