From the God of Lies to the Lord of All Worlds

Chapter 435 No Traitor Within, A Little British Laughter

Chapter 435 No Traitor Within, Let's Have Some British Jokes
“I can understand India, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, even Nigeria and Gabon, but what do you mean by an application from France?”

"Your Highness, the Frenchman says he also has Irish ancestry, just a bit darker!"

Sunak looked at the almost entirely black "Frenchman" and silently crossed out the application form.

This is a small matter concerning the application processing work. The arrival of millions of applications has forced them to come and handle this staggering number of applications.

The significant reduction in civil servants ultimately brought government work to a standstill, but since most residents were fleeing, no one had time to protest.

But now, with the influx of countless foreigners, the city's capacity to accommodate them is in jeopardy.

Prince William is still in office, but without his father's throne, he can no longer call himself a "prince," though he remains the supreme ruler of the country.

According to King Charles, his reign could continue until a new King of Britain was actually chosen—which could be a long process.

In the process, the benefits they fought for were all their own, which was also an implicit benefit of the Windsor family giving up the throne.

The old king and his two sons had both explained this point. They had even calculated that if things were handled well, even if a new king ascended the throne, their family's status would not decline much, and might even rise to some extent.

After all, the true King of Britain would certainly not allow such a powerful figure as "Parliament" to exist.

In every sense, the new king will be a ruler with absolute power, and for him, facing a country as unfamiliar as England, the best approach is naturally to rely on the old system of governance.

With Parliament nearly wiped out and seven prime ministers in five years, the only family force he could rely on that would not betray him was the former royal family, the House of Windsor.

Therefore, the Windsor family is not really worried about the decline of their power; in fact, their power may even increase as they move from being mascots to administrators.

The only thing left to consider is the psychological gap caused by the change in status.

Prince William, in particular, was somewhat disappointed to go from being the future king to a nobleman. However, after talking with his brother Harry, he realized that this was the best opportunity for his family!

“Grandma even had to condescend to apologize to those greedy members of parliament in order to gain their forgiveness, and Father also had to use all his power to get their consent in order to reform things within the royal family. What kind of royal family are we?”

William thought to himself that compared to continuing to be a puppet of the parliament, life now didn't seem so bad. At least his family really had their fate in their own hands.

This might be more satisfying than fighting for the throne.

"It's just a pity, Harry, why didn't you fight for this position?" William thought with some regret. If his younger brother could have pulled the sword out of the stone at this moment, their family would have truly reached its zenith!

Without the constraints of Parliament or financial worries, with the extraordinary power at his fingertips, even Queen Victoria could not have imagined such a situation!

……

"Why shouldn't I draw my sword? Uncle, didn't you already answer your question?"

Upon hearing Prince Edward's question, Grand Duke Harry calmly replied, "We all know that behind the Sword in the Stone and Merlin are the Celtic gods. Given what our family has done, it's incredibly fortunate that we haven't been held accountable yet. Do you think I have a chance to pull out that sword?"

The Grand Duke's words revealed a clear-headedness and composure. After all, he had known since childhood that the position was not for him, so he recognized reality before his brother.

"It's better to secure my position properly. My children might have the chance to draw their swords in the future—or even if they don't, it doesn't matter. At least they'll be able to come into contact with the extraordinary!"

As he spoke, a glimmer of light appeared at his fingertips—a radiance called "magic," proof of Merlin's supposed spirituality!
Hearing him say that, Prince Edward nodded slowly. "Yes, there is still some hope, unlike those families, who have long since turned to dust!" "Dust is good. Without these dust, we can't even grasp this little bit of power, and this country won't move in a good direction!" William clenched his fist, and the glimmer of light in his hand turned into a drop of dew, seeping into his skin.

He was referring to the nobles who originally had great prestige, status, and power in the country. These people controlled more than 80% of the country's land and were veritable landowners, some even more wealthy than the royal family. Now, however, these lands have lost their owners.

Because these families were almost all killed overnight by the curse, the country inexplicably gained a lot of "state-owned assets," which ironically provided a foundation for their already overburdened national economy to function.

That's why they were able to entertain guests from all over the world and ensure that the selection process wasn't just a spur-of-the-moment event, but rather an "economic driving force" that could get the whole of Britain moving!
All I can say is that this curse, aside from being bad for these people, is good for the whole world.

Thanks to the selfless sacrifice of these deceased, may they have endless fish and chips and stargazing in hell for the rest of their lives.

The Windsor family is truly one of the few families in this country who genuinely hope for the best for the nation, because they share the fate of the country. Therefore, his words were sincere. He couldn't see the future of this country before, but now he can, which is quite ironic.

Just then, the two heard conversations coming from the street outside:
"Hey Hans, do you know which is the best restaurant in London?"

"I don't know, but it's definitely not British food, since even the British themselves don't eat British food!"

How did you know that?

"Didn't we have news reports before? The Chinese and Americans were negotiating in London, and they reached almost no consensus, except for refusing the British state banquet for lunch and choosing McDonald's instead!"

"Hahahaha! That's a really funny joke. You, a German, know about this?"

Upon hearing this, both Harry and Prince Edward appeared somewhat helpless.

"Damn it, how come the French and Germans are allowed in London? They're neither members of the Commonwealth nor of Celtic descent!" Prince Edward said angrily upon hearing this sarcastic conversation.

Harry thought for a moment and replied, “The state banquet was indeed terrible, far inferior to McDonald’s—but you’re wrong to say they’re not members of the Commonwealth. In fact, yesterday the extraordinary parliament passed a bill that makes all countries in the world members of the Commonwealth!”

"What?" Prince Edward exclaimed in surprise. "So the Commonwealth is the new United Nations? When did we become the world's sovereign?"

Archduke Harry shook his head. "No, actually, the prerequisite for these countries to join the Commonwealth is to abolish the suzerain state status. The current Commonwealth is actually a loose alliance of countries..."

Hearing this, Prince Edward understood. "Exploiting loopholes, huh? These countries really go to great lengths for a single spot in the Extraordinary category. It seems you've gotten quite a few things you wanted in return?"

“We’ve gotten a lot of things we wanted in return!” Harry repeated. “With these spots, we’ve secured economic aid and material support from all over the world. Otherwise, London would probably be facing famine right now!”

"These old men in Parliament actually want aid? With their twisted and outwardly strong but inwardly weak behavior?" Prince Edward was surprised, then realized, "Oh, there are no more old men in Parliament, then it's alright!"

The two stopped talking and instead looked up at the crowd outside the window.

With the city's population reduced by half and a clear risk of death in the Thames, the sheer number of people still entering the country is truly a remarkable sight.

"I wonder how many of these people who came because of greed will be able to leave unscathed, and how many will be ruined because of their greed?" Harry said softly.

Only after truly understanding Celtic mythology did he realize how terrifying extraordinary crises were hidden within those seemingly beautiful and gentle myths!

Even King Arthur and Cú Chulainn died due to various crises, so how many of these people could possibly survive?
Merlin did say that his method would leave the gods helpless, but he didn't say that his method wouldn't anger the gods!
The curse on this land has not yet been fully unleashed!
