Chapter 365 Narcotics Enforcement Officer: Dawn Breaks
Chapter 365 Narcotics Enforcement Officer: Dawn Breaks
While politicians around the world are still preoccupied with matters of the divine and global affairs, Mexico presents a completely different experience.
For the people of this country, international situations, world events, or even anything else are of little concern to them.
Mexicans are more concerned with how to survive.
In this sense, they seem to be no different from Indians. Both are plagued by rampant corruption, drug abuse, and a strong desire to leave their country and move to other regions.
The only difference might be that in India, very few people genuinely want their country to prosper; they are all desperately trying to escape. In Mexico, a place where its own ethnicity and culture still remain, some people are willing to make their country better.
That's why there are politicians who are murdered in the street by drug lords, and military and police personnel who continue to fight under extremely unfavorable conditions!
For example, Juan Hernandez is in his home, carefully nailing wooden boards and nails to the doors and windows, and reinforcing the weak points of his house with small pieces of iron or sheet metal.
This meant that the lights in his house had to be on all year round, because there was never any sunlight in the rooms, only endless darkness.
"Juan, we're almost out of food. Will you still get your salary?" His wife's voice reached his ears, startling him slightly. "I'll go to the station to ask today... If all else fails, I'll borrow some from some friends..."
“Don’t lend them anymore. Although they always lend to you, we can’t afford to pay them back…” The wife shook her head. “I’ll go to the market this afternoon to see if there are any jobs I can do. I should be able to earn enough for two days’ worth of food.”
Juan remained silent for a long time. "I'm sorry, darling. I promised to give you a happy life, but instead, I've made you suffer because of this family!"
His wife stepped forward and kissed him, then shook her head. "Don't talk about my heroes. You saved me from those drug dealers, and you gave me love and a family. I know what you're doing, and I support you, my dear!"
After finishing these tasks, the woman went back to the kitchen to wash vegetables and cook, just like most women in the city.
Juan continued to stare silently at the ground and the ceiling, then raised his hammer and began nailing it into the wooden plank in front of him.
Juan is a narcotics officer. Not only him, but his father and grandfather were also narcotics officers. They are people who truly dedicated their lives to this country.
It's a pity that in this country, the family that sacrificed their lives for the nation still lives in shacks that resemble slums, living in constant fear of potential attacks.
Juan's grandfather died in a raid on transnational drug traffickers, his father died in a war with a drug lord family, and he, too, began his seemingly endless battle after graduating from police academy at the age of 18.
This is simply because their family is a native Mexican family, and they want the country to get better, so they want to eradicate this cancer that is plaguing the nation.
Their family were the kind of patriots who were rooted in their roots and were the most simple and honest. It was just a pity that although they loved their country, the country did not necessarily love them.
His grandfather's grave was dug up and burned, his father's remains were never found, and the compensation for his father's death has yet to be paid. Juan himself was also temporarily suspended from work and is now unemployed at home because of his hard work in the fight against drugs.
He knew this was because drug dealers were highly colluding with the city's politicians. Although some people were still working hard to combat drugs, most of them had long since become like drug dealers themselves.
“Sigh…and Salia…” Juan looked at his wife, a hint of pain flashing across his face.
He didn't actually want to get married because, given the increasingly difficult situation, the families of narcotics officers were practically natural targets for drug dealers!
Many of his colleagues and family members were brutally murdered, and his wife was even filmed and sent to him in an attempt to destroy their mental well-being.
Despite being at a disadvantage in battle due to their equipment, having traitors within their own ranks, and the government being an accomplice of the enemy, they still had to endure such torment, which caused their combat effectiveness to decline further.
Juan also knew that Salia could not leave, because she no longer had a home; her family had died in a battle between drug dealers and gangsters.
It was Juan who saved this girl, who was only 18 years old at the time, from the clutches of two drug dealers.
The girl was determined to follow him, and even after he offered to send her to a safer state, she didn't give up.
And so they have lived their lives to this day, stumbling and trembling, yet incredibly happy.
Eight years have passed, and they dare not have children. They know the consequences of narcotics officers having children, so they don't. He has dedicated his life to this country, but there is no hope for this country anymore, so let it end like this! Just as Juan was thinking this, a loud knocking sound suddenly rang out from outside!
"Bang! Bang! Bang!" The loud sounds made Juan's heart tighten. He immediately drew his pistol and said to his wife, "To the basement, quick!"
His wife didn't hesitate; she put down what she was holding, turned off the stove, and ran to the basement.
These are all muscle memory. Their families are ruined by repeated attacks. Drug dealers will attack every police officer who is seriously fighting drugs as a warning to them not to meddle.
But this time, it seemed different. "Juan! Come out quickly! Juan!"
Upon hearing this, Juan raised his hand, stopping his wife from continuing down the path. "It's Elan!"
Elan was his colleague, a narcotics officer who had also been suspended from duty, and his father's colleague. After his father died, Elan was the one who took care of him.
Now that they've actually arrived, could it be that...
Juan opened the door and saw Elan, who was dressed neatly. This man, who was usually unusually pessimistic and even wanted to immigrate abroad, looked radiant at this moment!
"What are you waiting for, Juan? Come back to the team with me!" Elan shouted, surprising Juan. "Back to the team? But I've already been forced to rest..."
"No, never again!" Elan's face was full of joy. "The chief has been taken away, and the newly appointed president has appointed our captain as the new police chief! Juan, the world in Mexico has changed!"
"Huh? Captain? Wasn't the captain already on trial because he was framed?" Juan asked, somewhat confused. "How did things change so quickly? Is the new president a good person? But isn't he afraid of dying a violent death in the street for doing this?"
In this country, drug traffickers are far more unscrupulous than anyone can imagine; even the president could be found dead in the street if he angers them.
This is not a joke; it's a fact that has been proven before.
Hearing Juan's words, Elan's smile widened. "You don't need to worry about that! Because our new president has a very important partner who can guarantee that such a thing won't happen in the future! The president is giving a speech in a square in Mexico City!"
"Hurry up, come with me and you'll see. All I can tell you is that they're here, and dawn is breaking in Mexico!"
Upon hearing this and seeing the noticeably larger crowd around them, Juan pulled his wife along and got into Eran's car, heading towards the now bustling square.
In the square, they saw the newly elected president, the man standing next to him, and heard the voice coming from the loudspeaker:
"Fortunately, I went to Juarez and met with His Excellency Chief Karl, and gained his approval!"
"Now, I can declare that from today onward, from this very moment, we will wage war against all drug traffickers on this land! No polluting plants shall be allowed to grow on this country's soil, and no drugs should exist in this country!"
"And the one overseeing all of this is Mr. Jerón from the Apache tribe, who will lead this war against drug traffickers!"
The president stepped aside, revealing Jerome, who looked more like a top-notch lecturer or success guru than a "tribal member."
But this person has only just appeared, yet he's already caused quite a stir!
He picked up the microphone and shouted at the top of his lungs, "I am Jerome! By the will of the gods and the orders of the President, I will eradicate all drugs and drug dealers from this country!"
“We will fight on every piece of land. We will capture every drug dealer and send them to the sacrificial sites in Juárez or Mexico City, to sacrifice their lives and hearts to the gods!”
"Yes, this is a declaration of war. We will find you, and you... will have nowhere to run!"
As he spoke these words, he drew an arrow from behind him, shooting three rainbow-colored trails into the sky. "I swear in the name of Quetzalcoatl, every drug dealer will be burned to ashes by the glory of the gods under this sky!"
The radiance of the extraordinary beings transformed this area into an ocean of "frenzy" after a period of silence, with massive heat waves engulfing them all.
God knows how long the people of this city had waited for this moment, but in the end, their hope finally arrived!
Seeing this, Juan embraced his wife, the hatred for his family, his own resentment, and his hopes for his country all materializing in his eyes at that moment: "Salia, it's dawn!"
The woman hugged him tightly, sobbing uncontrollably, "My dear, we've waited... it's dawn!"
