Chapter 155: Manifesting one's divine power before others is the best way to gather the power of wishes.
Even though a month has passed, the news about the resurgence of the gods seems to have nothing to do with the people of this country.
Stories from faraway North America are naturally hard to spread to Europe, let alone Sweden, where the pace of life is slow and the whole country seems to be on pause.
This country is incredibly divided, and while various crises are ever-present, its citizens appear remarkably sluggish and inefficient.
After all, it is a high-welfare society. Apart from the gloom brought by the cold, most people here have a very withdrawn personality, which leads to the scarcity of public activities.
Therefore, such a public sacrificial ceremony by the "Assatian Church" is truly one of the very few things in the Malmö community recently that can attract a lot of attention and is a gathering that locals talk about with great interest.
After all, there's not much else going on in this city besides crime.
The prevalence of immigration-related crimes has led to a significant decrease in tourists, leaving residents who finish get off work at 3 p.m. with little entertainment.
They either go back to having babies, play video games at home, or are left with activities like shooting each other with gangsters, which are only available to a very small number of players.
So when Freya and Percival arrived at Ribersburg Beach with the cult members and the girls who had just joined—not all survivors had homes and could go home—there were quite a few locals who had come to watch the spectacle.
Along this famous beach, there is lush green vegetation and forests, and even more so, a harmonious coexistence of various animals and people.
Ribesburg Beach
As a well-known tourist attraction, you can also enjoy a distant view of the long Øresund Bridge, feel the warm sea breeze, and bask in the gentle Nordic sunshine, experiencing a classic and beautiful scene.
"What a beautiful city, isn't it?" Lova exclaimed, standing by the sea and gazing at the indigo water.
“Yes, this beautiful city already had a quarter of its births not being locals by 2006!” Freya exclaimed. “And the number of believers in the gods is dwindling!”
"It's alright, these are not major problems!" Lova said with a smile. "After today, all the Viking descendants in this city will become believers in the gods!"
“They will offer up their faith, they will return to their former faith, for I will tell them that the gods have returned!”
He opened his arms, facing the sea, as if he had everything under control!
Lova wasn't idle during this time. At the very least, he learned about that history from a thousand years ago and learned more about the past from some of the gods around him.
(Bai Yang: I'm making up history every day these days, wow!)
He knew that the dominant faith in this country was Lutheranism, and that most of the citizens were followers of this denomination.
He even knew clearly that this sect called "Christ" was backed by a true God, and he had heard this name in his conversations with some deities.
He even speculated that the other side was involved in the "War of the Realms" belonging to the Aesir gods.
That might be a pantheon as great and terrifying as the Aesir!
But Lova wasn't worried about confronting them at all, because in this country he hadn't seen any true "beacons of faith," and he clearly knew that those so-called faith-possessors had no faith at all!
Their prayers did not reach the Kingdom of God, their words did not resonate with God, and they had no power whatsoever, only empty words.
Then the opposing pantheon would certainly not pay any attention to him, and he could act with impunity here!
Based on this comparison, Lova became increasingly confident in the ritual, and even those obvious "spies" and "agents" were not expelled.
Because he knew that these people who seemed to be there to investigate did not have any so-called "gods" behind them, so did that mean that they would also become part of his recruitment of believers?
"This is truly fascinating! The believers in this city will be my first step on the path to divinity, and the foundation upon which I ascend to godhood!"
Lova said softly, then whispered to Freya, "We may begin, Freya the Witch!"
“Okay!” Freya nodded gently, no longer talking to him, but slowly facing the crowd in front of her—among them were believers, passersby and tourists, as well as local government maintenance personnel and a group of police officers.
Their arrival made the entire beach incredibly lively, and meant that their upcoming ceremony would be witnessed by even more people! Even with Freya's honed spirit, the thought filled her with immense excitement. She waved her wand, looked at the worshippers before her, and softly said:
"When the aurora borealis in the north shines with its most brilliant light, it is the time when the gods return from history once more!"
"Please allow me to call upon His name, His divine position, and His miracles!"
"He is the God of War, the Grim, the Raider, the Third God!"
He is the one-eyed god, the supreme god, and the seeker of truth!
He is the Almighty Father, the God of the Scepter, the God in the Cloak!
"He is the King of the Gods, the Lord of all worlds, our Heaven, our Father, our Lord!"
In Freya's eyes, it seemed as if endless brilliance shone forth, "Let us call upon His name together, and invoke His will!"
Her voice was soft, even softer than the sound of ocean waves; yet it was also loud enough to drown out the voices of every listener.
So the believers, those who truly believed in the existence of the Norse gods, joined her in chanting that name:
"O...Ding..."
This deep, muffled murmur echoed in the ears of everyone on the beach, whether they were paying attention to the ritual or not, whether they had such blood or not. The words from the ancient gods seemed to resonate in their ears.
Everyone looked up in confusion, while those who were watching the ritual had already sensed its extraordinary nature!
A series of illusory wishes gathered around them, a mixture of belief and skepticism towards the extraordinary.
That's all the special sound can do.
But this was only the beginning of the ritual!
As the believers chanted the name of the God-King, a figure suddenly attracted the attention of many people on the other side of the sea!
Especially on the Øresund Bridge, which is relatively close to here, some people driving on it suddenly saw a shadow appear beside them and couldn't help but look up.
They saw a huge rock not far from them, seemingly moving forward on the sea!
Then came that incredulous exclamation: "My God, what is this?"
"Ah, I see a huge rock moving on the sea?"
"Boom!" The vehicle, which had been slowly coming to a stop, was rear-ended by a vehicle coming from behind and came to a complete stop.
The bearded driver behind them, who had initially intended to cause trouble, turned around and saw the scene, prompting him to exclaim, "God is supreme... has one of your angels descended?"
The entire bridge was instantly engulfed in terrible congestion, but few people complained. Instead, they got out of their cars and crowded around the edge of the bridge, wanting to see what it was!
Then, some people took their foreign-made smartphones and, through lenses magnified dozens of times, saw the scene on the other side of the giant rock!
"My God, my Allah, my Buddha... there is someone supporting this stone!"
Upon hearing this, an even more terrifying surge of excitement erupted on the already bustling bridge!
Everyone eagerly craned their necks, wanting to see what was happening!
Some frequent internet users have finally come to a clearer conclusion: "I knew it, I knew it! America has superhumans, so how could our ancient country not have any?"
The appearance of this sound made the entire area even noisier, a few times noisier, and then countless times noisier...
Everyone was watching this scene, everyone raised their phones, they witnessed the arrival of this "extraordinary event", and of course, they also spread what happened here to the whole world!
Meanwhile, the many people on the beach had already heard Freya's command: "Our saint has brought us Mimir's head. Now, follow me on this pilgrimage..."
As she spoke, she clutched the ice-blue crystal that Lova had given her and strode headed towards the sea before her!
Behind her, numerous believers followed closely behind!
The people on the beach couldn't see the sea clearly, and wondered if this was a journey of "cult self-sacrifice." Then they saw an icy blue light slowly spreading out from under the feet of the woman dressed as a witch!
"What am I seeing? The sea... is frozen over?" Someone rubbed their eyes in disbelief!
PS: Thank you to "Named by Chance" for the 1500 Qidian Coins and "The Serpent of the End Devouring God" for the 500 Qidian Coins! (We're almost at 10,000 coins again, will I have to add another chapter?)
PS2: Still four updates today. It's a bit late because my head hurt from writing yesterday. Sorry.
