Chapter 87 Remarks on the launch
8月6日(周三)凌晨00:00上架,当日会更1W2k字,如果不出意外,首订日之后仍然是回归上午11:00开始更新。
So I'll post the update first today, and then start by asking for a first-day subscription!!!
Since the book's release, many gentlemen have speculated that the author is the reincarnation of some old man, or some extraterrestrial demon...
But I understand that this is an overstatement; I myself am not at the level to be called a 'heavenly demon'.
Before writing this book, I was just a roadside author who had finished two books at Red Wharf.
If any readers recognize me, I hope they just keep it to themselves and don't open the author's box!
Although it was just a random story on the street, it was still a million-word story with a beginning and an end.
The second book was enough to make a living, but after the opening was copied by the author of Seven Hakimi (with the exact same plot structure), it became a hit with a different eye-catching gimmick.
Then I turned against Tian Gang, because he became popular while I didn't; I almost became the one who plagiarized.
Personally, I think it doesn't matter whether online novels are embroidered or not, just like how I'm embroidering D&D now—I'm not afraid of you embroidering, I'm just afraid of you embroidering it badly.
But I'm afraid you'll make comparisons.
In comparison, the difference is just too great, really too great.
The author was so deeply affected by the story that his spiritual heart was shattered and his inner demons ran rampant; he still can't forget it to this day.
Fortunately, the second book, with nearly 200 million words, was successfully completed.
Since then, I've realized something—it was indeed my mistake to try to write a serious story in an environment that values sensationalism.
So I ran away.
He wanted to change to a more suitable environment, and also wanted to see what level he represented in this holy land where gods stood side by side.
Before writing this book, I actually knew that Western fantasy was a relatively unpopular genre.
But I'm a tabletop role-playing game player, and writing a fantasy web novel has always been my plan and goal.
The recent successes of Dungeon Mushroom and Goblin have given me some confidence in this genre.
Furthermore, it was discovered that there doesn't seem to be a single online novel on the market that seriously explores the themes of "bards" and "adventure."
I thought it shouldn't be like this, because I felt that the bard's attributes of being a fun-loving person and a playboy were very vivid and interesting to write about.
Then, with the thought that "since no one else is writing about it, I'll try to take a different approach," I started writing.
I wonder if any of you have seen Dungeons & Dragons: Rogue Glory?
I initially wanted to create a male protagonist like Edkin, but it's clear that Edkin is somewhat lacking in ability as a strategist and key figure.
To better suit online novels and make the writing more enjoyable, the current "Donkey Weinberg" was created.
Actually, the name comes from "Don Quixote". I didn't use "Tang Ji" simply because I thought the characters "Tang Qi" looked better, hehe.
Because there was no benchmark document, I was somewhat unsure of myself when I started writing, wondering if I could write it well.
I must thank my editor, Liuxing, whose words "You can give it a try" when I submitted my manuscript with trepidation were my greatest motivation at the beginning of writing the book.
Many readers actually felt that the first three chapters were somewhat depressing, which was a real flaw for the "Golden Three Chapters".
However, when I write books, I don't really like to use things like the "golden three chapters" or something similar to the eight-legged essay to define the beginning.
Either it's the "golden chapter," where a single glance decides the outcome.
Alternatively, tell the story in a gentle, engaging way, immersing the reader in the narrative.
Just like my book, the first three chapters may be slow, but I still believe that atmosphere and immersion are indispensable elements of the fantasy genre.
Without the groundwork and foreshadowing laid in the first three chapters, there would be no subsequent plot development—I believe there is not a single wasted word in the first three chapters, and all the information is used in the later plot.
So the first three chapters are actually the result of my polishing, and I don't think there are too many problems.
Of course, I understand that the readers who have reached this point don't care about the plot of the first three chapters. Everyone has accepted these things before they were willing to keep reading until now.
The author isn't trying to explain anything by saying these things.
Rather, I want to prove to my readers that when I write online novels, my goal is still to create a good-looking and exciting story.
I think this is very important. Because online novels that rely solely on gimmicks are prone to falling apart when they run out of steam in the later stages, or they might even fall apart in the early stages altogether.
I firmly believe that on this platform, the way forward is to write a good story, no matter how hard you try.
To make the story more exciting, I actually added some contrasting or more interesting character settings.
【Dawn】is a typical example.
First, regarding her oath, why didn't she break it? My explanation is that due to her past achievements, she wasn't completely abandoned by the oath.
This caused her to lose some of her power; only by regaining her glory can she find her true self.
If you can't accept this, then I can only say that the rules and personal settings serve the purpose of the subsequent plot and the background world view.
Of course I know this character isn't that appealing, but D&D and tabletop role-playing games are essentially about encouraging players to take on roles from different factions and experience different lives.
Only by putting these people with such different personalities into a team can a good chemical reaction be created, making the story more exciting and interesting.
Just like in the Dragonlance trilogy, their flaws actually make them more like real people, rather than one-dimensional heroes.
But as I said before, an author would never write a book with the intention of disgusting the reader.
Just like in tabletop role-playing games, the DM and the players are creating a wonderful story together.
The author writes books simply to present readers with a wonderful, interesting, vivid, and memorable story, nothing more!
Similarly, this book must take the theme of "road trip adventure" itself, a subject that is extremely suitable for bards but seems to be quite niche, as its main theme.
In my opinion, so-called 'adventure' is actually like a train journey with no known destination.
We travel by train, seeing different landscapes and traveling with like-minded friends.
Through growth, we become better versions of each other.
Perhaps we'll pause at some station, wave goodbye.
But it's also for a better meeting next time.
The so-called 'nobles and commoners' is actually just a part of the adventure, not the main focus of the book.
I believe everyone can discern the author's intentions from the plot of the previous 86 chapters.
I will also try my best to continue the wonderful story!
To be honest, I really didn't expect to be loved by so many men at first.
The initial goal of this book was simply to finish writing it if I could get full attendance bonus.
But seeing the gradually increasing achievements, he also had the ambition of "whether I can make a mark on Sanjiang".
Despite its many twists and turns, last week's Sanjiang was snatched away by a brilliantly written extraterrestrial demon...
Fortunately, I managed to deliver a satisfactory result to myself this year before my 24th birthday.
I am truly grateful to my readers for this opportunity, which has made me realize that I am not standing still and that I still have a chance to break free from my inner demons.
Therefore, I will respond to every reader who loves this book with the most passionate creative attitude!
Of course, I type very slowly...
Writing this book is also very mentally taxing (I often have to struggle for a long time to come up with suitable poems and jokes for the dwarves), so I may not be able to guarantee a daily writing speed of 10,000 words.
Between speed and quality, I think quality is more important.
I will try my best to maintain a minimum of 6k words per update. If I find that the plot is progressing slowly, I will update more if I have the energy.
At the same time, since it's now on the Sanjiang platform, perhaps it can try to make it onto the premium channel and fulfill its dream.
Therefore, I will try my best to update more often, and I hope everyone can subscribe and support me!
目前是2W收藏,按照不崩10:1收订比的情况下,以首订1800为起点,每超过200加更2000字。
If I don't have enough energy, it will be spread across subsequent updates...
Gentlemen may not appreciate these qualities, but you're probably only reading this book because of its quality. I can't just write something haphazardly to appease you and waste this book and your enthusiasm.
So all I can do here is kowtow and kneel to my family in gratitude!
In short, I'm begging for first-time subscriptions, follow-up subscriptions, and monthly votes tomorrow, August 6th at 0:00!!!
Love you all!!!
