Chapter 63 Double Act
Chapter 63 Double Act
"Chief of staff, one of our staff officers has run away but has been caught." A staff officer came to report.
"What?" Ibrahim, who was organizing military training, frowned immediately upon hearing this: "Who ran away?"
The staff officer walked up to the chief of staff and whispered a name.
Upon hearing the name "Nshium," Ibrahim paused for a moment, then rubbed his temples.
According to military discipline, although it is not considered desertion in the face of battle now, desertion is certainly subject to severe punishment, and execution by firing squad would be justifiable in special circumstances.
But the problem is that Nshum is not only the eldest son of Prince Muhammad, but also the brother of a major general.
"Who did the patrol team arrest?" Ibrahim asked.
"Yes, he's already in solitary confinement," the staff officer said. "Should we notify the commander?"
"Don't tell him yet."
This matter is a big problem for Lu Lin. On the one hand, there is the bond between brothers, and on the other hand, there is the strictness of military law. It is difficult to handle both in terms of public and private matters.
Ibrahim sighed: "Take me to see him first. I want to know what this guy is thinking."
The staff officer quickly led the way.
Inside the confinement room, Enshium sat on an iron chair with his hands handcuffed.
His military uniform was disheveled, and his face bore the scratches from being escorted by the patrol team.
Ibrahim pulled out a chair, sat down opposite Nshum with a gloomy expression, and asked, "Why did you run away?"
Nshum remained silent.
"Afraid of death?" Ibrahim sneered. "Or did you hear from someone that war is about to break out?"
“It has nothing to do with that,” Enshium said. “I just figured it out.”
"What do you want to understand?"
“I shouldn’t have been here in the first place!” Enshium gritted his teeth. “Do you know who I am? The eldest son of the Muhammad family! Just a month ago I was the Minister of Environmental Protection, and in a few years I would have become a member of the Consultative Conference. But now?”
"But one casual remark from him dragged me to this godforsaken place, making all my previous efforts come to naught!"
Ibrahim remained expressionless: "Do you know that you have violated military discipline?"
"Do you know the pain of dealing with documents here day after day?" Enshium suddenly raised his voice: "But if I go back now, it's not too late!"
Ibrahim remained silent for a moment, but ultimately did not reveal the truth.
Even if you were allowed to run back, you would most likely be caught by Prince Muhammad. Even if the Yehe family intervened, it wouldn't make a difference; they might even side with the prince.
He took a deep breath and repeated, "This is the military, not a place where you can do whatever you want. Since you've admitted it, then we'll deal with it according to military law!"
Ibrahim said coldly, "Major Enshhum bin Muhammad bin Abdulaziz Al Saud has been demoted to private due to serious disciplinary violations. He is not eligible for promotion before the war, and this record is in his file."
He will be punished with thirty strokes of the cane, fifteen days of solitary confinement, and thirty days of hard labor!
The Shuangzhi Military Discipline Law stipulates that deserters can be sentenced to up to five years in prison and discharged from the military, but Ibrahim believes this is too lenient.
Since imprisonment has little binding force on members of the royal family, it will eventually become an "internal matter." As for being discharged from the military, it directly fulfilled Nchium's wishes.
So he went straight for the full extent of the corporal punishment and stripped the other man of his military rank.
"The Great Imam has arrived," a soldier whispered as he approached Ibrahim.
A moment later, Taimiye walked in, followed by several Ulima in white robes. He gestured towards Enshium with his lip: "The Major General's brother?"
Ibrahim nodded expressionlessly.
"So what's the procedure?" Tammy sighed and slumped into a chair. "Lenient treatment? Or a strictly official procedure?"
Ibrahim glanced at him: "I thought you would uphold justice. In a way, you also bear some responsibility for this."
“You’re wrong,” Tammy said, spreading his hands. “My responsibility is to take good care of the Major General.”
"As long as we can win the war, I'll go east if he tells me to go east, and I'll go west if he tells me to go west."
Ibrahim couldn't help but say, "You're supposed to be the Grand Imam, can't you have any professional ethics?"
Tammy ignored him and, seeing that the report was already written, reached out and took a look.
"Tsk tsk." Tamiya looked at the contents of the paper and began to look at Ibrahim with newfound respect: "Are you trying to solve His Highness Amir's problems? But are you qualified to handle this?"
Ibrahim simply said, "It's my duty."
Military discipline is of paramount importance to soldiers; those who knowingly commit wrongdoings will be severely punished.
If you have no objections, please sign your name below; consider it a favor.
“That’s no problem, since I’m not the one who’s going to suffer.” Tammy shrugged. “But you should know who the boss is here.”
Ibrahim narrowed his eyes, and before he could speak, a series of hurried footsteps echoed down the corridor.
"boom!"
The door to the solitary confinement cell was kicked open, and Lu Lin, with a sinister expression, walked in.
For some reason, Enshium, who had already accepted the punishment, suddenly panicked. "A bet's a bet."
But then a fist appeared to grow larger in his eyes.
Enshium was knocked to the ground by a punch. Before losing consciousness, the thought that flashed through his mind was: Why do you always hit my face?
Then Lu Lin knocked him unconscious.
"Deserter?! I'll teach you to be a deserter!!"
Lu Lin straddled Enshium and began punching and kicking him relentlessly, breaking the latter's nose and causing him to bleed profusely.
He recalled that if a deserter appeared in the troops he used to lead, even if it was just the lowest-ranking soldier, it would be a huge scandal!
A brigade commander? Even the Heavenly King himself couldn't save him!
Shame.
"You son of a bitch!" Lu Lin was already in a frenzy, and he grabbed a stool and started a new round of attacks, making the eyes of the people around him twitch.
In the middle, N'Shum seemed to be woken up by the blow, letting out a couple of groans, but was quickly knocked unconscious again.
"Crack!" Someone seemed to hear a crisp sound, but the metal stool in the major general's hand remained intact.
Lu Lin cursed and swore, then unholstered his gun and pointed it at Enshium's forehead.
Seeing that someone was about to die, everyone was startled. Ibrahim strode forward, grabbed him, and shouted, "Major General!"
Lu Lin realized that this guy was as strong as an ox, and he couldn't break free at all: "You dare to stop me?!"
“Soldiers who violate military discipline should be dealt with according to military law, not by vigilante justice!” Ibrahim hurriedly said, “Major General, please calm down!”
Lu Lin gritted his teeth: "This guy dares to desert, I'm going to kill him on the spot!"
"Your Highness Amir!!"
Ibrahim shouted, "As the highest leader of the army, you should set an example! You should not lead the way in violating military discipline!"
"Military discipline? I am military discipline!"
boom.
The gun fell to the ground. In a contest of strength, Lu Lin was no match for Ibrahim, and his weapon was knocked away.
The tension between the two reached its peak. Ibrahim stared directly into his superior's still furious eyes and said loudly, "If you want to execute him, then execute me first! I am the chief of staff. My soldiers deserted, and I am also responsible."
Lu Lin: "Do you know what you're saying?"
“I know.” Ibrahim released Lu Lin’s hand and said seriously, “I am now in the most powerful army in the history of Shuangzhi, under the leadership of the best commander in history, and we are preparing to accomplish the greatest goal in history!”
As the chief of staff, I have a duty to do my job. I cannot stand by and watch the discipline of this army be trampled on!
If you insist on carrying out this vigilante justice, please relieve me of my duties first. But before that, I must fulfill my responsibility—to uphold the iron discipline of this army!
Lu Lin stared into Ibrahim's eyes and found that the other party did not back down in the slightest.
The atmosphere in the solitary confinement room plummeted to freezing point, and everyone felt an indescribable sense of suffocation.
But after a moment, Lu Lin slowly nodded: "Okay, I'll give you that face."
After saying this, he turned and left.
Before leaving, he saw the report on the table, casually put it in his pocket, and took it with him.
Seeing this, Taimiye followed closely behind, leading several Ulima dressed in white robes to catch up with the former.
Soon only Ibrahim remained in the solitary confinement cell. He looked at Enshium, who was beaten unconscious on the ground with countless broken bones, and his expression was somewhat complicated.
Even with proper treatment, this injury will likely keep him bedridden for several months.
"Call the medics and give them a quick first aid."
Lu Lin walked outside, let out a long breath, and suddenly felt like smoking.
“The camel was sent from the United States; it’s said to be an essential ration for soldiers.” Tammy handed over a camel: “I’ve tried it; it’s quite mild.”
Lu Lin took the cigarette and had just put it in his mouth when Taimiye struck a match.
He took a sip; it was indeed quite smooth.
How was my performance just now?
“In my opinion, it’s still not quite there yet.” Taimiye also took a puff of his cigarette and then said, “There should be a collective trial. In front of all the officers and soldiers, you should beat up your own brother. That would be more conducive to establishing your prestige.”
“It’s fake.” Lu Lin flicked his cigarette ash. “The acting is too obvious.”
“You’re right.” Tamiya nodded.
Lu Lin took out a report from his pocket: "This is your responsibility."
Taimiye stubbed out his cigarette: "I'll make sure the church gets the news. Once the church knows, the Yehe family will know too, but what about the prince?"
"Don't worry, we still have an undercover agent sent by my dad, don't we?"
Tammy smiled and said, "Congratulations, Major General, on gaining such a formidable general."
"We'll have to see how he performs later." Lu Lin took a sip of his liquor. "But his temperament is quite to my liking."
