Chapter 6 Nighttime Attack

Chapter 6 Nighttime Attack (Part 2)

The Bofors anti-aircraft guns opened fire immediately upon receiving the order.

A two-kilogram high-explosive bomb shot into the sky, exploding into clusters of black clouds.

Lu Lin could hear the astonishing cannon fire from several kilometers away; the deep sound pressure was like someone dancing ballet on his chest.

"Enemy aircraft! Approaching at low altitude, bearing 105!" the gunner roared over the radio.

"Reload!"

The loader pulled the bolt handle sharply, and the high-explosive round clicked into the chamber.

"it is good!!"

The gunner stepped on the pedal, and the roar of the cannons instantly became a continuous roar.

(Bofors 40mm anti-aircraft gun)
The Bofors anti-aircraft gun had been famous overseas for decades, but it was a product of World War II and was not quite up to the task of dealing with second-generation jet fighters. Even Lu Lin did not have high expectations.

But perhaps because the F.Mk.6 was flying too low, a plume of black smoke and flames suddenly shot out, and it was hit!
A high-explosive shell struck the right flank of the F.Mk.6 precisely, shattering the aluminum alloy skin like paper.

"Well done!"

Lu Lin slammed his fist on the back of the seat.

He watched the reconnaissance plane circle around like a bird with a broken wing, and knew that it had not hit a vital spot, but the F.Mk.6's engine was connected to the fuel tank, and now that it was smoking, it probably couldn't fly very far.

So he said to Fahad, who was driving, "Don't go back to the camp. See that plane? Chase after it!"

He then took out his radio and instructed Ahmed: "Report the situation to headquarters, saying we shot down a Zion reconnaissance plane! Also, send out all the available mobile vehicles at the outpost and capture the pilot!"

"Hey, Amir! Major!"

Ahmed shouted into the radio but received no response. The veteran cursed in Arabic.

He then shouted, "Everyone assemble! Head in the direction the plane crashed! Remember, the first priority is to bring the major back alive!"

"what happened?"

Khalid walked in and looked at Ahmed, who was fully armed, not understanding why the other man was so agitated.

"The major drove a patrol car to chase after the shot-down reconnaissance plane! And that's right in Hashim territory. If anything goes wrong, things will get really complicated!"

Ahmed quickly put on his bulletproof vest and shouted to the guards, "Get me a vehicle with a full tank of gas. I want to lead the team myself!"

Khalid's eyes widened in disbelief: "This is unbelievable!"

After being hit, the F.Mk.6's speed dropped significantly, and even Enzi could barely keep up.

Lu Lin's patrol car was hanging behind him as he tracked the plane's trajectory and checked his sidearm.

The M1911 produced by the United States has a complex structure and is prone to sand accumulation in desert environments like the Middle East, causing the firearm to jam.

After checking his own, he reached out to Fahad and said, "Bring yours here so I can check it too."

Fahd handed over his rifle, looking somewhat nervous: "Are we about to go to war?"

"Scared?"

Lu Lin encouraged him, "Think of it on the bright side, this will be the first time we've captured Zion's prisoners, soldier, you'll get a promotion because of it!"

He realized he had gotten a little carried away, but now he felt a bit embarrassed, since the order had already been given.

Fahd swallowed hard, his body as stiff as a club.

Lu Lin reached for a feather left by Enzidu on the back seat. "Do you know what the Bedouins say?" He stuffed the feather into the soldier's pocket and made up a story: "Bullets will detour around people who carry eagle feathers."

Fahd carefully touched the feather in his pocket and silently prayed, "God bless you." ...

The patrol car sped toward the emergency landing site. The landing gear of the F.Mk.6 plowed deep furrows in the sand. The right wing was completely broken, but the cockpit miraculously remained intact.

Lu Lin had already locked onto the pilot through the eagle's-eye view. The pilot seemed to be stuck on something and was cutting the seatbelt with a knife. He shouted, "Go over there!"

The two rushed to the cockpit, and Lu Lin jumped out of the car with his pistol already loaded.

Through the broken canopy, they saw the pilot struggling to move. When he noticed someone approaching, the Zionist immediately reached for the pistol on his waist.

"Don't move!" Lu Lin pressed the muzzle of his gun against the pilot's temple. "Hands up!"

The pilot froze. He was a young blond man with the "Star of David" emblem embroidered on his flight suit. His right leg was stuck in the deformed control stick, and his face was covered in oil and blood.

Fahd deftly removed the pilot's pistol, tied his hands behind his back with the gun strap, and Lu Lin forcefully pried open the deformed control stick, dragging the prisoner out of the cockpit.

"What is your purpose?" Lu Lin pressed.

The other person first spoke in Hebrew, but Lu Lin frowned and couldn't understand a single word. However, the other person's expression seemed to be mocking them.

So he smashed the pilot's rifle butt over him, and the pilot immediately became much more obedient, replying in slightly accented Arabic: "I'm here to bomb your outpost, you bunch of country bumpkins! Our air force will soon be at your airbase, turning all your planes and cannons into burning scrap metal!"

Lu Lin's heart sank upon hearing this; he hadn't expected Zion to actually make a move against Shuangzhi.

"Inform Ahmed via radio and have him tell headquarters that Zion will launch an airstrike on our military base!" he quickly issued the order.

"It's too late!" the pilot laughed, a contemptuous smile on his face. "Our air force launched the attack from the Red Sea, and by now they've already reached Tabuk!"

Lu Lin slapped the arrogant Zionist twice more across the face, but then he heard a low rumble of thunder, and the entire rock wall seemed to tremble slightly.

Immediately following was the ringing in my ears; the shockwave from the explosion made my chest feel tight even from several kilometers away.

bombing!

Lu Lin quickly understood what had happened.

"It's in the direction of the sentry post, Major!" Fahd said nervously.

Lu Lin didn't waste any words. He knocked the pilot unconscious with an elbow strike, then had Fahad carry him back to the car. He picked up the radio and started making calls first.
"Major Amir calling! Nukoshir Outpost! Anyone there? Please respond!!"

He called out twice, and just as his spirits were sinking, Ahmed's voice came through the radio: "Ahmed received, Major, please report your location."

Lu Lin hurriedly spoke into the radio: "Never mind that for now, what's the situation at the outpost? How many casualties have there been?"

There was no response from the other end, and Lu Lin unconsciously scratched a layer of skin off the steering wheel with his fingernails.

Fortunately, Ahmed responded quickly:
"The casualties are not significant. Because you just mentioned sending troops to capture the pilot, most of the soldiers in the camp have run away, but our ammunition depot is gone."

Lu Lin breathed a sigh of relief; this was a stroke of luck amidst misfortune.

"Are there any other situations?"

"Yes," Ahmed continued, "Route 35 has also been bombed. It's our only road connecting the Tabuk region, and our support troops will most likely be stuck on the road. In addition, our supplies may also be affected."

The course of history has now completely derailed. Lu Lin was silent for a moment before saying, "It seems Zion is preparing to take action against us."

"It seems so, Major."

"Contact headquarters and see how things are going on their end," Lu Lin guessed that Tabuk had probably been bombed as well, which had completely worsened the situation.

He issued the order: "Zion has officially declared war on the Twins. Everyone, return to camp immediately and await further instructions."
