Chapter 57 Dishes!
Chapter 57 Dishes!
Xu Ge left the shooting range with his backpack and headed towards the snow-capped mountains.
The backpack was quite heavy, and it probably contained several liters of water, as it rattled and made noise when I walked.
"嘤嘤!"
Hearing a noise from his legs, Xu Ge looked down and realized he had forgotten to leave Xiao Siquan at the shooting range.
The little guy struggled to climb out of the pocket, but Xu Ge pulled him out and put him on the ground. He immediately ran to a rock and started urinating.
"We've come all this way, so why don't you come with me?"
Thor instructed them to go and return quickly, and since sending Xiao Siquan back would take too long, Xu Ge decided to take it with him up the mountain.
Although it was only early winter, ice had already begun to form at the foot of the snow-capped mountains.
Xu Ge, carrying a bag, struggled to climb, his speed not even keeping up with Xiao Siquan.
There's a saying that goes, "Looking at a mountain makes a horse run itself to death." Xu Ge thought the snow-capped mountain looked very close when he was at the shooting range, but he only understood the meaning of this saying when he started climbing up from the foot of the mountain.
Even though we had been walking for quite a while, when I looked up, those big characters were still quite far away.
The higher you go, the harder it gets. The slope becomes steeper and steeper, and breathing becomes more difficult as the altitude increases.
Crunch!
The snow underfoot had become noticeably thicker, and it took Xu Ge almost half an hour to climb just a few hundred meters.
"Woof!"
The little dog seemed quite excited, jumping and hopping around in the snow.
call!
Xu Ge, panting heavily, grabbed a rope from one of the banners and finally climbed up.
But looking around, there wasn't a soul in sight, not even a ghost, on the mountainside.
Remembering what the head instructor had said, Xu Ge walked to the last large banner with the word "Accurate" written on it. The snow was clean, without even a footprint.
Xu Ge took off his backpack and placed it on the snow. He then took out his walkie-talkie and began calling out, "Chief Instructor, I've arrived, but I don't see anyone!"
"Sizzle..."
The walkie-talkie was crackling, indicating a poor signal; Xu Ge couldn't hear what was being said at all.
"Wang Wang!"
Suddenly, the little dog ran over and barked at the snow in front of Xu Ge.
Xu Ge's expression changed, and he subconsciously reached for the claw knife at his waist.
Bang!
The snow in front of him suddenly burst open, and a figure wearing a white ghillie suit sprang up from the ground. The next second, Xu Ge felt something cold touch his neck.
"Wang Wang!"
The little dog immediately pounced to bite the man's leg, but was grabbed by the man.
"I'm here to deliver something!" Xu Ge quickly shouted, guessing that this person was probably also a member of the Hidden Wolves.
He stood rooted to the spot, though he could feel that the other man's hand holding the bayonet was very steady.
"Oh!"
The man withdrew the dagger and gently stroked the little dog.
As the snowflakes around them fell, Xu Ge finally got a clear look at the other person's face.
This was a man with a thick, long beard that covered most of his face, making it impossible to tell his age. His eyes were frighteningly bright, making people afraid to meet his gaze.
The bearded man's ghillie suit was different colors inside and out; the outside was white, and the inside appeared to be tiger-striped.
"Bag."
The bearded man glanced at Xu Ge and then beckoned to the backpack on the snow.
Xu Ge quickly ran over and picked up the backpack.
The bearded man put the puppy down, slung his backpack over his shoulder, glanced at the metal plate at the top of the banner that had been knocked down by a bullet, and showed disdain:
"vegetable!"
While Xu Ge was still wondering if the dish was referring to him, the bearded man had already slung his bag over his shoulder and headed up the mountain.
The other person was very fast, and in just a few steps they darted far ahead, leaving only a lonely string of footprints on the snow.
"Woof!"
The little dog looked up at Xu Ge, reminding him that it was time to go back.
"Wait a moment."
Xu Ge put the little dog in his pocket and went to the top of the banner with the character "准" (zhun) to examine it. He was curious about the disdainful look the bearded man had given him before he left. After looking for a while, Xu Ge discovered that not each of the six banners had a mechanism to unfold, but rather they were strung together by a rope, with the unfolding mechanism ultimately concentrated on a piece of iron on the top of the banner with the character "准".
Simply put, once this 50-centimeter-diameter iron plate is knocked down, all the banners will unfold in sequence.
In other words, Thor fired all six bullets at the same target.
"Xu Ge, what are you looking at with your butt sticking out like that? Everyone's gone, why aren't you back yet!"
The walkie-talkie signal suddenly improved, and Thor's voice came through.
"Oh, I didn't see anything, I'll be right back!" Xu Ge turned around and started to descend the mountain.
. . .
. . .
At the entrance to the firing range, Thor stood with his arms crossed, looking at Xu Ge: "You've worked hard!"
"Reporting to the Chief Instructor, it's no trouble at all!" Xu Ge replied loudly.
"When you gave him the backpack, did the bearded man say anything?"
Xu Ge glanced at Thor, somewhat hesitant.
"Say it directly!"
"Yes! That person only said one word."
"What word?"
Xu Ge tried to remain serious: "Disgusting!"
Thor: ...
"What were you looking at there before? Did you discover something?" Thor asked again.
"Reporting to the Chief Instructor, I saw nothing and I will not say anything!" Xu Ge's expression was resolute.
He was telling the truth. To him, hitting one out of six shots at such a distance was an incredibly difficult feat, and he didn't feel ashamed of it.
Thor nodded: "Hmm! Not bad! Go back now, I'll teach you the Claw Knife when I have time."
"Yes!"
Back at the tent, Xu Ge found that each squad and platoon had found an open space, and each recruit was sitting on a stool with a thick cloth in front of them. On the cloth was a Type 191 assault rifle, and everyone was repeatedly assembling and disassembling it.
It seems this is the new content from Thor's lecture.
Du Hu sat in front of the new recruits and gestured for Xu Ge to join the ranks when he returned.
Xu Ge sat down on the last stool, and subconsciously picked up his gun and dismantled the 191 in a few quick shots.
"Who among you has mastered the disassembly and assembly of firearms? Go and teach Xu Ge!" Du Hu said as he was cleaning his gun.
"Report! I got it!" Qi Ruibiao stood up with a look of enthusiasm.
"Okay, go and talk to Xu Ge."
"Yes!"
Qi Ruibiao carried a stool to the back and was stunned when he saw the pile of parts in front of Xu Ge: "Did you take this apart yourself?"
Xu Ge realized something was wrong only after he had just disassembled the gun. Fortunately, he acted quickly and was in the last position, so no one else noticed.
“I saw Li Dongshui take it apart once and he got it right away. This thing is pretty simple,” Xu Ge said, pointing to Li Dongshui, who was cleaning his gun next to him.
"Amazing!"
Qi Ruibiao gave a thumbs up, sat down opposite Xu Ge with a warm smile, and asked in a low voice, "Xu Ge, I saw you carrying a bag and going up the snow mountain earlier, what were you doing there?"
"I need to deliver something to the head instructor."
"Didn't the sentry at the shooting range stop you when you left?"
"No..." Xu Ge had just finished speaking when he realized something was wrong. He looked up at Qi Ruibiao, "You came all this way just to ask this?"
Qi Ruibiao chuckled: "Let's just chat casually, since you already know how to do it anyway."
"Ah Biao, you're not thinking of running away, are you?" Xu Ge asked in a low voice.
Qi Ruibiao's expression turned serious: "What nonsense are you talking about? I'm aiming for the training pacesetter award!"
