Chapter 3 Tianpeng Divine Curse
In the ancient novel "Investiture of the Gods," Nezha cut off his flesh to return to his mother and his bones to return to his father.

Li Xuan cut off his own flesh to escape the evil spirits, and only when the knife touched his own skin did he understand what true pain was!

The piece of flesh fell to the ground and immediately emitted a putrid stench. The area covered by the mud writhed and spawned a large number of tiny worms.

Li Xuan, biting the sickle and pressing his left hand against his right arm, sprinted forward.

He remembered that the map marked a small temple nearby.

Fresh blood dripped continuously from his fingertips onto the ground; the belt was never as effective as a professional medical compression belt.

pat...

Familiar voice.

Li Xuan instantly felt a cold sweat run down his spine and a tingling sensation on the top of his head!
He knew the female ghost servant was coming without even turning around; she was incredibly fast.

Run as fast as you can!
Turn the corner and you'll see a temple!

It was a dilapidated temple.

It's very small, less than 50 square meters.

Li Xuan's feet sank, one second he was on the gravel road, the next he stepped into the mud, and his movements slowed down.

We are getting closer and closer to the small temple.

His neck tightened again, and muddy hands gripped the back of his neck once more...

The eaves bells were covered with cobwebs, the vermilion walls were mottled and peeling, the steps were covered with a thick layer of dust, and the door god patterns on the door panels were blurred and indistinct, clearly indicating that no one had cleaned it for a long time.

Is this an abandoned temple?

Li Xuan felt despair!
He felt a chill creep up his spine, and a bitter, rusty taste filled his throat. Did the gods still listen to him in this dilapidated temple?
In ancient legends, whether it is a ceremonial temple or a remote shrine in the mountains, it needs someone to offer incense and prayers to have any spiritual power...

Without offerings, the deity loses its spiritual power and thus becomes ineffective.

He struggled to lift his head, his will to survive reignited.

The couplets on either side of the temple gate come into view:
First line: [Doing good deeds is known to Heaven and Earth, and respected by ghosts and gods]

The second line reads: [Cultivate a virtuous heart, refine character, find peace of mind, and retreat into dreams.

Horizontal scroll: [Heavenly Justice is Manifest]

The old plaque at the top of the gate seemed to have clearer characters now, displaying the three characters "Beiyin Temple," powerful and vigorous, exuding an indescribable sense of majesty...

Li Xuan turned around and swung his sickle!

Ghosts are also transformed from humans!

Why should we be afraid of it!

The brand-new scythe, stained with fresh blood, severed the female ghost servant's arm in one swift motion!
It seemed it hadn't expected that this young man, who had just been crying and begging for survival, would suddenly display such immense courage to confront it head-on...

Taking advantage of the brief break.

Li Xuan rushed towards the Beiyin Temple, smashing open the gate with his body; the rotten bolt snapped open with a crash.

I stumbled and staggered inside.

The air was filled with the desolate smell that comes from a place that has been uninhabited for a long time.

Using the dim light outside, Li Xuan could barely make out the layout inside.

The first thing that catches the eye is the incense table and offering table, followed by the altar, upon which sits a majestic deity wearing a colorful divine robe with twelve imperial symbols and jade ornaments, and a black cloak embroidered with a ghostly face. He wears a crown with tassels, above which hangs a reddish-gray cloth inscribed with the words "Great Emperor of Fengdu in the Northern Underworld".

There was a statue resembling a judge standing on each side.

The figure on the left, dressed in a red robe with a long beard and wearing an official's hat, holds a book in his left hand and a huge writing brush in his right.

The one on the right is dressed in light armor, holding an unsheathed sword in both hands, and has eyes as bright as copper bells.

However, these statues have some small cracks on them.

Ignoring his pain, Li Xuan knelt on the prayer mat, slamming his head against the ground with a loud thud. He then proclaimed with heartfelt devotion, "By the Great Emperor of the Northern Underworld, Li Xuan has been unjustly attacked by evil spirits. I beg you, God, to save my life! If I escape this calamity, Li Xuan is willing to make offerings to the Great Emperor as a believer..."

The wind is strong!

A chilling aura permeated the air. Mud seeped in from outside, and the female ghost servant, having reattached her severed arm, stared with resentment, completely oblivious to the fact that this was a temple.

Li Xuan struggles to survive in despair.

Human strength is insufficient to resist evil spirits.

All he could do was devote himself wholeheartedly and devoutly to this Great Emperor of the Northern Yin.

Blood flowed from his wrist, and some incense sticks were scattered on the ground, some of which, stained with blood, looked even redder...

Offering incense?

Correct!
He picked up the incense sticks, stuck them in the incense burner on the altar, and picked up the matches beside him.

No matter how I strike the match head, it doesn't spark; it's damp.

fast……

Sweat beaded on Li Xuan's forehead as he looked at the statue of the Northern Yin Emperor and said, "The couplets in the temples of gods show their hope that good and evil will be rewarded accordingly, and that a bright and just world will be created! If the gods do not despise me, I am willing to become their disciple and walk the world in this mortal body, eliminating evil and upholding justice, and I will never back down!"

call……

As the words fell.

The match head that had been impossible to light finally sparked and caught fire.

As soon as I got close to the incense, I saw it light up on its own, emitting swirling smoke.

The temple became ethereal and mysterious, with flickering candles burning spontaneously, and wisps of smoke curling around the statues like veils, while the mottled murals seemed to glow with a gilded light...

The statues flanking the Great Emperor of the Northern Yin seemed to come alive, their eyes sparkling with brilliance and radiating an aura of dominance. In particular, the pupils of the deity dressed as a military general even "moved" slightly.

Li Xuan felt as if he was swept up by a gust of wind, his whole body spinning around, and with a thud, his knees slammed heavily to the ground, followed by his head hitting the ground!
Three heavy blows!

He felt like his skull was about to crack; in fact, his forehead was indeed broken, and bloodstains were faintly visible.

The incense table trembled, and a tattered booklet was swept out by the gale below. The cover read "The Wondrous Scripture of the Supreme Emperor Tianpeng of the Northern Abyss of the Cave, Protecting Life and Eliminating Disasters," and the corner was stamped with a blurry seal that read "Fengdu Precious Guide."

The wind turned the first page.

Inside is the Heavenly Canopy Mantra.

Li Xuan felt a tightness around his neck as he felt the muddy hands gripping him again, tightening rapidly.

He steeled himself and recited the Heavenly Canopy Mantra word by word:
"Tianpeng, Tianpeng, Nine Yuan Demon Child. Five Ding Commanders, Gao Diao Bei Weng. Seven Zheng and Eight Ling, Tai Shang Hao Xiong. Long-shouled Giant Beast, holding the Emperor Bell. Three Gods of the White Owl, Yan Ji Kui Dragon, Mighty Sword God King, slaying evil and destroying traces. Purple Qi rides the sky, Crimson Clouds surge forth, devouring demons and ghosts, drinking the wind horizontally, with a blue tongue and green teeth, an old man with four eyes. Heavenly Ding Warrior... With a single stroke of the divine blade, ten thousand ghosts crumble!"

The Heavenly Canopy Mantra has over a hundred characters; when recited, the flow of time seems to slow down.

Li Xuan's body erupted with dazzling golden light, sending the female ghost servant who was almost clinging to his back flying!

The female ghost servant screamed in agony...

It didn't understand why this temple, which had no divine protection whatsoever, had suddenly appeared.

The golden light appeared quickly and disappeared just as fast.

The female ghost servant was in excruciating pain; the areas illuminated by the golden light continued to fester, and as she rolled around, the ground became stained with a sticky, foul-smelling liquid.

It struggled to crawl out.

Seeing that the divine incantation had taken effect, Li Xuan felt reassured. He picked up the sickle from the ground, held it in his palm, and chanted the Heavenly Canopy Divine Incantation.

A faint golden light flickered on his body, sometimes bright and sometimes dim. He strode toward the female ghost, raised it high, and brought it down heavily. The scythe drew an arc and the cold light landed on its back!
The curved blade pierced his back; with a forceful pull, black flesh was torn open, and filth gushed out…

The female ghost servant cried out, "Faithless people... they're all heartless people... I wasn't wrong, why punish me like this? I don't accept it, I don't accept it... the He family all deserve to die!"

Li Xuan said quietly, "But... my surname is Li."

The female ghost servant froze: "..."

The blood-stained scythe flashed coldly in the darkness, and Li Xuan gritted his teeth and swung his arm again!
Suddenly, everything went black, and he saw double. A force was violently pulled out from the depths of his bones, and his body went limp instantly, collapsing stiffly next to the female ghost servant!
The divine incantation... drains my energy and spirit?

Before Li Xuan fainted, a thought flashed through his mind.
