Chapter 54 Lost
Chapter 54 Lost (Please continue reading)
Looking at the old butler leaning peacefully against the tree, Haven sighed helplessly and stood up.
"Hey little guy, are you alright?"
Seeing the old butler breathe his last, Lori lay down on Simon's body and cried again. When he heard Havent asking him a question, he raised his head and shook it.
"Alright, if he's not injured, go over there, pick up a weapon, dig a hole, and bury your old butler. There are probably wolves in this forest; you don't want him to be chewed up and eaten by them, do you?"
Lori was stunned by Haven's shocking words and forgot to cry for a moment, staring blankly at the blood-covered boy in front of her.
"Don't look at me, I won't help you dig. He's your butler, not mine. Bury it yourself."
Hearing Havent's cold words, Lori couldn't help but sob again.
"Stop crying! If you cry again, I'll throw you here to be eaten by the wolves!"
Startled, Lori immediately stopped crying and looked at Haven, whispering:
"You promised Grandpa Simoya you'd take care of me~"
"Wrong! I died before I could even agree to his request, and he asked me to escort you, not take care of you. Also, if you're planning to let him feed the wolves, then we can set off now."
Forced by Haven's tyranny, Lori walked to the corpse, picked up a battle knife, and began digging at the ground.
An hour later, a small mound of earth was erected, and under Havent's pressure, little Lori kowtowed three times before the small grave.
"Alright, that's enough now. It's enough that Mr. Simon fought to the death for you in the last moment. Let's go."
Looking up at the sky, the sun was partially obscured by the trees, leaving Haven with no choice but to rely on his intuition to move forward.
After walking for more than ten minutes, he still couldn't find the road. Haven scratched his head in frustration. It didn't make sense; he had clearly come from this direction.
Just then, a muffled thud came from behind. Turning around, he saw the little boy had fallen to the ground. Haven walked over and turned the little boy over.
"Go to sleep~ You'll feel better when you wake up."
Looking at this unfortunate kid who had experienced so much today, Haven sighed, grabbed the little boy's clothes and slung them over his back. With Lori on his back, Haven looked up at the sky again, but still couldn't see the sun.
"That can't be! Am I lost?"
Looking at the identical forest around him, Haven couldn't help but doubt himself.
"That doesn't make sense!"
A little bewildered, Haven drew his longsword from his waist and slashed at the tree trunk beside him twice before continuing forward with the sleeping Lori on his back.
Another half hour passed, and Haven, covered in sweat, looked at the sword marks on the tree to his right and sat down on the ground in a state of near collapse.
"Damn it! I really am lost, that shouldn't be the case!"
I looked up again at the sky, which was blocked by the trees, scratched my head in confusion, looked around, and found a tree of decent height.
Seeing that Lori was still fast asleep, Haven put the little boy on the ground and climbed onto him.
"Holy crap, where did I put this?!"
Standing atop the treetop, Haven stared in astonishment at the scenery before him. As far as the eye could see, it was as if he had stepped into the forest of the Greater Khingan Mountains in his previous life, an endless expanse of trees.
Snapped!Snapped!Snapped!
Haven slapped himself hard across the face several times. The pain told him he wasn't under an illusion. Just as Haven was racking his brains for a solution, he noticed smoke rising a few kilometers away. He didn't know if it was dangerous, but he couldn't worry about that now; at least it was better than wandering aimlessly in the woods.
He jumped down from the tree trunk and found that little Lori was still asleep. He walked over and patted the little boy's face, but there was no reaction.
With no other option, he turned around, picked up his longsword, and walked toward the bushes to the side. A few minutes later, Haven returned carrying a large pile of branches. He activated the storage ring on his hand, and a bundle of rope and burlap appeared on the ground.
"Phew~ What's going on? Why is my magic power being used up so much this time?"
Haven shook his head, not taking it to heart, picked up the wooden stick he had chopped back and started working on it. Before long, a makeshift stretcher appeared. He picked up little Lori, put him on the stretcher, and pulled the stretcher toward the place where he had just seen the smoke.
This time, Haven learned from his previous mistake and stuck a stick in the ground every ten meters. With the help of the stick, he was finally able to move forward in one direction.
After walking with Lori for more than ten minutes, Haven looked up and finally saw black smoke through the shade of the trees. He breathed a sigh of relief, realizing he hadn't been mistaken.
Turning back, he looked at the little boy on the stretcher and frowned. This kid could sleep too much. Even if he was stressed from battle, he shouldn't be sleeping like this.
Haven patted Lori's face again, but the little boy still didn't react. Helpless, Haven began to look around at the surroundings. He was going to scout the area later, so he couldn't leave Lori here. If the wolves carried him away, he would be letting down Mr. Simon's dying wish.
"Ah, this tree is nice, tall and sturdy."
Five minutes later, Little Lori, still fast asleep, was securely tied by Havent to a tree branch seven or eight meters above the ground with a rope. To test its safety, Havent kicked the branch a few times.
Seeing that only a few leaves had fallen, Haven nodded in satisfaction.
"You sleep peacefully here, I'll go downstairs and buy you oranges, oh! No, I'll go scout ahead."
Looking at little Lori, who was still fast asleep and had no objections, I couldn't help but sigh. Raising a child isn't so hard. Who says it's difficult?
After landing on the ground, Haven drew his longsword in advance, held it in his right hand with his back to the ground, and crouched down as the dog stealthily approached.
On the other side of the jungle
"Hiss~ Hiss~"
Following instructions, the green-skinned creatures emerged from the bushes carrying various weapons. Their red eyes gleamed with cunning, and their stench could be clearly smelled from several meters away.
Deep in the crater, the silver-haired girl struggled to her feet. Blood trickled from the corner of her mouth, indicating that she was seriously injured. The witch's clothes she was wearing had been torn to shreds in the explosion, revealing large areas of her snow-white skin.
As the green-skinned goblins surrounded him, a cold glint flashed in his pale purple eyes. He raised his right hand towards the noisy goblins, and the magic runes etched on his arm lit up.
But unlike what the girl had expected, the magic runes on her arm seemed to be disturbed by something, and after a few flashes of light, they lost their luster. The silver-haired girl, suffering a backlash, spat out another mouthful of blood.
As the goblin slowly approached, the large purple eyes revealed a look of panic for the first time.
"Hiss!!!!"
The goblin, wielding a bone club, excitedly pounced on the girl.
'Voice, Sloth, Da'
A powerful, unyielding force was unleashed, and the rushing goblins were blown away by the airflow.
Hey beautiful! Looks like you're in trouble~
