Chapter 45 Annihilation (Please continue reading)

Wells watched in shock as Death Howl was blasted away. He knew he was about to die, but before he could, a powerful will to survive regained control of his mind. He gripped the grass with both hands, crawling rapidly on the ground like a two-legged lizard.

Hearing the roar behind him, Wells was curious about what had happened, but the pain in his right leg kept him from stopping for a moment.

With a deafening explosion, Wells was thrown by the blast wave and crashed into a rock dozens of meters away. The pain over his body made him give up struggling. He laboriously raised his head and looked at the battlefield with his only remaining right eye.

The next moment, the dying Wells finally saw what had happened.

A woman floating in the sky was launching a continuous attack on the giant wolf below, constantly firing fireballs at Death Howl, just like the little alchemist's gadgets she had bought for Paimon when he was a child. However, judging from the giant wolf's retreating figure, it was clear that the fireballs were much more powerful than the little fireworks the alchemist had sold.

"Hmm~ It's already at the second stage of demonization? It's worse than I imagined."

Looking at the death howls roaring at him from below, he frowned, then extended a slender, white finger and pointed it at the giant wolf.

"Disappear, you ugly creature!"

The Death Howl, lying on the ground, stared in terror at the human girl floating above its head. The bone spikes on its back had all broken under the girl's attacks, and thick, black blood was constantly flowing from the holes of all sizes.

Its wild instincts made it want to tuck its tail between its legs and flee in panic, but the voice that kept echoing in its mind was like a nail, pinning the giant wolf to the ground. Its eyes, like lava, revealed intense fear and an equally intense killing intent.

In the end, the killing intent overcame the beastly instinct. The death howl, covered in wounds, expanded rapidly like a balloon being inflated, and the black smoke that had been emanating outwards also receded at this moment.

'Boom~boom~boom~'

The expected explosion occurred, but it wasn't the giant wolf that exploded.

Several beams of light pierced through the giant wolf's body in an instant, like a cheap umbrella sold by an unscrupulous merchant, having no effect whatsoever. The swollen giant wolf expanded for a moment and then returned to its original shape.

The dying howl, barely clinging to life, lay limply on the ground, its clear black and white eyes pleadingly looking at the girl still above it.

However, the girl's pale purple eyes showed no emotion. Her right hand gripped the giant wolf below tightly, and the death howl, like a pile of mud, turned into a bloody mess that splattered all around.

"Pay attention to teamwork, pay attention to teamwork, don't go in alone."

Haven, wielding a longsword, faced off alone against a Black Smoke Wolf, while the remaining five or six mercenaries, armed with weapons, confronted another Black Smoke Wolf.

"Paimon! Paimon! Pick up your weapons! Pick up your weapons!"

Haven stood beside Paimon and called out anxiously. Paimon, who had suffered a series of blows, knelt silently in front of Bucky's body, tears streaming down his face like a stream.

"Paimon, we have to kill these two beasts, or more people will die."

Paimon, kneeling on the ground, groped for the two-handed axe in Bucky's hand, stood up, walked to Havent's side, and glared fiercely at the black smoke wolf that had killed Bucky.

"Will, kill it and avenge Uncle Bucky!" The two boys exchanged a glance, grabbed their weapons, and charged forward. Paimon's eyes were no longer filled with fear, but with boundless hatred, he launched an attack on the Black Smoke Wolf.

However, the boy's courage could not bridge the gap in strength. The wind wolf easily dodged Paimon's attack and opened its mouth to bite Paimon's neck.

Hevante, who was right next to Paimon, quickly swung his longsword and slashed the wind wolf across the neck. The wounded wind wolf whimpered and ran to the side, its mouth wide open, baring its teeth as it looked at the two of them. Blood, reddish-black, slowly oozed from the wound on its neck.

Seeing that his powerful strike had only managed to tear the fur of the Black Smoke Wolf, Haven frowned. He prepared to use his abilities to rehearse his escape route, but after glancing at Paimon, whose eyes were bloodshot, he shook his head. Abandoning a friend was a bit shameful.

Just as Havent hesitated about whether to knock Paimon unconscious and take him away, a bright light appeared, like the sun suddenly rising.

Just as Haven was wondering what was happening, the black smoke wind wolf in front of him began to convulse violently, and a large amount of black smoke drifted out from the wind wolf's body, quickly enveloping it.

Looking at the scene before him, Haven pulled Paimon, who was still about to charge forward with his axe, back away, feeling a strong sense of unease, as if Whiterun was about to be crushed by a dragon.

Just then, several loud explosions came from afar, attracting Haven's attention. A ball of light flew quickly toward the camp, and it wasn't until the light stopped above the camp that Haven saw a human girl in the light.

Haven, gripping his longsword, stood on the open ground, staring blankly at the girl in mid-air. As the girl slowly raised her arm and extended her palm toward the camp, countless blazing white fireballs erupted from the magic circle formed from her palm.

A blazing white fireball shot down towards the wind wolves shrouded in black smoke below, and towering flames ignited within the camp. The girl turned her head to survey the area below, making sure nothing was missed.

Haven was stunned as he watched the girl slowly drifting towards him. Her long, straight, pure silver hair shone brightly in the moonlight, and her pale purple eyes surveyed the survivors below. The light blue witch's dress she wore gave the girl a faint sense of aloofness.

"So beautiful~"

Watching as he threw out two blazing fireballs that ignited the wind wolf enveloped in black smoke, Havent couldn't help but mutter to himself.

The girl's ears twitched twice, as if she had heard Havel's words. She turned around and slowly floated over, stopping in front of Havel. Her pale purple eyes scrutinized him for a moment, then she suddenly brought her small, wrinkled nose close and sniffed.
“A familiar taste~”

With Haven looking completely bewildered, the girl uttered a nonsensical remark and then flew away in a flash. Watching the girl disappear into the night sky, Haven plopped down on the ground.

As the death howl and all the wind wolves were wiped out, the remaining wolves scattered. The survivors stood there in a daze. After a while, the mercenaries who realized they had survived collapsed to the ground, and some of them hugged each other and cried bitterly.

"Let's go see how Uncle Wells is doing."

Haven, who had been resting on the ground for a while, stood up and patted Paimon on the back. The two dragged their tired bodies out of the camp and searched for a while longer before finally finding Wells on a rock about 500 meters away from the camp.

Wells, leaning against the rock, watched the two boys approaching from afar and closed his eyes in relief.
