Chapter 41 Bloodbath 3
Chapter 41 Bloodbath 3 (Seeking monthly votes)
"Use spears, use spears, and bring some shields!"
Haven plunged his sword into the wind wolf's neck, successfully freeing the mercenary who had been bitten. The wind wolf, in pain, staggered and then glared fiercely at Haven.
Grabbing the severely injured mercenary's shoulder, he forcefully threw him to the side, holding his sword with both hands and confronting the Wind Wolf. In the end, the Wind Wolf couldn't hold back any longer, raised its neck, and a ball of blue energy rapidly gathered at the wolf's mouth.
Swish~swish~swish~
Three wind blades shot towards Havent, but having anticipated this, Havent rolled away to dodge the wind blades and quickly got up from the ground.
After launching three wind blades in succession, Wind Wolf was visibly fatigued. Seeing this, Haven held his sword in a reverse grip with his left hand, supported his body with his right hand, and lay prone on the ground, rapidly gathering strength in his legs.
"Step forward and slash!"
A figure flashed past quickly, and the Wind Wolf only managed to howl once before collapsing to the ground, its right front and hind legs severed by Havent's attack.
Haven stood up and took a few deep breaths; he was still struggling to use this fully-fledged intermediate-level combat skill.
Looking around, he saw that the other two wind wolves were also surrounded. Seeing that the situation was under control, he breathed a sigh of relief, picked up his longsword, walked up to the wind wolf lying on the ground howling in pain, raised his longsword and stabbed it fiercely into the wolf's eye.
"Commander, the carriage is ready, and the surrounding area has been reinforced with shields."
Listening to his subordinates' report, Wells nodded. Two hours had passed since the wolf attack. The good news was that they had killed almost half of the wolves, but this news did not bring him any joy. Within Wells's sight, everyone was covered in wounds.
"Aka, Batilla, we need to get ready to leave. We can't delay any longer."
Wells glanced worriedly in the direction where the Gale Mercenary Group was defending; the sounds of fighting could still be heard from there, which reassured him slightly.
The two captains arrived quickly. Batila was alright; as a shield warrior, he was very strong defensively and hadn't sustained any major injuries. However, Aka looked much worse. As a two-handed sword berserker, he was prone to injury due to his swift attacks. It was unclear whether he had been attacked by a wind blade or bitten, but a ten-centimeter-long gash on his chest was bleeding profusely.
"Aka, are you alright?"
Wells asked the leader of the Blood Wolf Mercenary Group with concern. After all, Death Howl must be a high-level wolf to command such a large pack. If Aka, the berserker, were not available, he and Batilla would probably have a hard time damaging Death Howl.
Aka wiped the blood off his face and muttered curses.
"Old Wells, I'm perfectly fine, don't worry!"
After saying that, he took out a black bottle from his waist pocket, uncapped it, and poured the ointment inside onto the wound.
"Let's go. The quick-acting hemostatic ointment we bought from Old Bige is damn expensive, but it really works."
Seeing that Aka was in relatively good condition, Wells nodded and climbed into the carriage.
"Let's go. I have a few fire spirit jars I found. We'll throw them at the wolf pack, and then we'll rush in during the explosion."
A group of fourteen people climbed onto two carriages, their faces showing a willingness to die as they looked at the death howls ahead.
Boom~Boom~Boom~
As the fire jar exploded among the wolves, the wolves, jolted by the shock, were thrown into chaos. Two carriages rushed straight toward the howling wolf in the center of the pack.
The white giant wolf, which had been howling furiously from the rear, saw the carriage charging towards it and revealed a human-like expression. Its scarlet eyes watched the approaching carriage, and it raised its head and let out a long howl.
The wolf pack that had been surrounding the white giant wolf seemed to have received a command, and quickly dispersed, running towards the camp.
Watching the wolf pack swerve to avoid the carriage and attack the camp, a look of urgency flashed across Wells' face. He then forced himself to calm down, staring fiercely at the death howl dozens of meters away, and silently recited a prayer.
'Bucky, you guys have to hold on!' In the blink of an eye, they were already in front of Death Howl. The group jumped off the carriage and looked at the giant wolf that was three meters tall. Aka roared and his body glowed with a light red aura. He took a few steps and then leaped down at the top of the giant wolf's head.
The Howl of Death stared at the human leaping high into the air, opened its mouth wide, and a wind blade quickly condensed, launching towards Aka.
Aka, fueled by his berserker blood, neither dodged nor evaded the incoming wind blades, instead slashing directly at them with his two-handed sword.
The collision generated enormous energy, and Aka, having no point of leverage in mid-air, was sent flying backward.
Wells, who had rushed over from behind, caught the flying Aka.
"Don't go alone, let's work together and finish this off quickly. The camp won't hold out for long."
Aka nodded, steadied himself, and once again held his sword with both hands, looking at the white giant wolf. The group exchanged glances.
"Go together!"
The moonlight was shredded by the sword energy. Death Howl swung its huge wolf claws and shattered the cross slash that Aka was about to unleash. Batila raised its tower shield, which was mixed with black iron, to block the incoming wind blades. Wells, who had circled around to the side, gathered his fighting spirit on the small shield in his left hand and delivered a shield bash to Death Howl's hind leg.
The giant wolf, in pain, turned and lunged at Wells. Unable to dodge in time, Wells could only raise his small shield to protect his chest before being knocked away. On the other side, a mercenary wielding a spear saw this and raised his spear to stab the white giant wolf in the chest.
Unexpectedly, the mercenary underestimated the toughness of Death Howl's fur. The spear tip only managed to penetrate halfway. Before the mercenary could exert any more force, the white giant wolf quickly turned its head and bit the mercenary's upper body. The head exploded like a watermelon, and a large amount of blood flowed from Death Howl's mouth.
Seeing the miserable state of his subordinates, Batila roared, and his arms grew even larger under the stimulation of his fighting spirit. He raised his shield and charged at the giant wolf.
With a loud thud, the unsuspecting Death Howl was knocked to the ground by a shield slam from Batilla, while Batilla, who was also hit by the same force, was sent flying seven or eight meters away.
"Aka!"
With Wells's roar, the Blood Wolf leader, understanding the message, took a few steps forward and once again leaped and slashed at Death Howl. At the same time, the mercenaries surrounding the giant wolf also raised their weapons and attacked.
"Ouch~~~~"
The Death Howl, struck by a series of heavy blows, opened its mouth and randomly unleashed wind blades in all directions. Two mercenaries who couldn't dodge in time were sprayed with blood mist and fell to the ground.
Seeing the giant wolf about to get up, Wells, who had been poking Death Howl's rear end several times, quickly dodged away.
The group dispersed again, surrounding the giant wolf and preparing for their next attack.
The white giant wolf, now stained with blood, glared fiercely at the crowd. A meter-long gash on its shoulder was caused by Aka's leaping slash.
"Ouch~~~~"
As the death howl roared to the sky, a large amount of black smoke-like substance floated out from the giant wolf's wounds.
