Chapter 28 Professional Guild

Despite the hotel owner's strong recommendation, Xiao Hai, being an honest person, still declined this seemingly appealing project.

Finally, under old Sog's slightly regretful gaze, they went up to the room on the second floor.

A short while later, a knock came at the door. Haven, who was standing by the window watching the busy figures of the town's residents, turned his head and said.

"Come in, the door's open."

With a creak, the heavy wooden door made of pine was pushed open, and a waiter wearing a small hat on his head walked in and bowed to Havent.

"Sir, the bathwater you requested has been prepared. Shall we bring it in now?"

Haven nodded to indicate that it was okay, and the waiter turned around and went out to shout a few times downstairs, followed by a series of clanging and banging sounds.

Several young men carried in a huge wooden bathtub, poured in several buckets of hot water, and the room was immediately filled with steam.

"Sir, your bathwater is ready. Please let us know if you need anything else."

Looking at the steaming hot bathwater, although the conditions seemed a bit harsh, Haven, who hadn't bathed for five or six days, felt like a piece of dried-out salted meat, so he naturally didn't care about that.

While taking off his clothes, he asked the waiter standing at the door.
"Are there any convoys heading to the capital from this town? Also, do you offer laundry services here?"

The man paused for a moment, thought for a second, and replied.
"Sir, I don't know much about this, but there is an Adventurers' Guild in the center of town. You can go there and take a look."

"Washing clothes is also possible. Which items do you need washed?"

Haven pointed to the clothes lying on the side of the bed, signaling the waiter to take them away, and reached into his pocket to take out a silver grouse, tossing it to the waiter.

"Thank you, I'll call you when I'm done. Please close the door behind you."

“Okay, okay, sir. My name is Brie. Just pull the rope by the bed if you need anything.”

Upon receiving the silver coin, Gro happily picked up the clothes, bowed several times to Havent, and respectfully closed the door.

Once outside, Bree, in disbelief, gripped the coin in his hand tightly. It represented ten days' wages; what a generous guest!

Carrying the clothes, Blue twisted and turned until he reached the courtyard behind the hotel.

"Hey Linda~ I can finally buy you the silver necklace you wanted."

The woman who was washing vegetables looked up at Buli and said jokingly:
"What's wrong, Brie? Did you find some money?"

Brie went into the house, carefully placed the clothes in the wooden basin, and then carried the basin out.

"No, I met a wealthy customer who asked if we offer laundry services. You'd better wash these clothes carefully later, because he might be so happy that he'll give me another tip."

After saying that, he showed off the silver Glo in his hand to the woman.

In the room

Haven was soaking comfortably in the bathtub, his feet dangling over the edge, the cool breeze blowing in from the window carrying a faint earthy scent in the air.

He squinted, his head resting on a burlap towel, recalling the scene of their parting before he left.

On the afternoon of the second day after deciding to go to the capital, Haven met the weary Marquess of Charlton in his father's study.

The old man was dressed in a smart cycling outfit, his short, gray hair was neatly combed back, and a scar could be seen on his face running from his right eyebrow to his cheekbone. Although the fatigue from days of travel had left his face looking tired, the sharp glint in his eyes and the imposing aura he exuded indicated that this military and political governor of the North was indeed no ordinary man.

Contrary to Haven's expectations of a heated discussion, the Marquess of Charlton merely confirmed the wishes of Earl Maurice and Earl Hyland, asked a few questions, and nodded in agreement. After waiting a while, once Earl Maurice finished writing, Charlton picked up the letter, glanced at it, and wrote his own name on it. Then, under Haven's questioning gaze, he walked over.

"I can't believe Kevin's child has grown up so much. I met you when you were very young. Grow up quickly, child of the North."

After saying that, he rubbed Havent's head with his large hand covered in steel gauntlets, took out a ring from his magic pouch and tossed it to Havent.

"Alright, I have to go now. This is the birthday present I've owed you all these years. We'll meet again in the future, and I hope you'll be an even better man from the North then."

Clutching the ring in his hand, Haven stared blankly at the Marquis of Charlton's departing figure, so upright and powerful.

"Isn't he handsome?"

Turning around, he found his father standing beside him at some point, glancing at the Marquess of Charlton who had already walked away, and nodding heavily.
"Yeah, very handsome."

Earl Hyland smiled and patted his son on the shoulder.

"If you go to the capital, see your mother and apologize on your father's behalf. I'm afraid I won't be able to attend your cousin's wedding."

He wore the gift from the Marquis of Charlton on his index finger and gave his father a reassuring gesture.

That evening, Haven, who had dyed his hair and was wearing old leather armor, left Whiterun City in a cargo wagon. Looking at the figure standing on the city wall, he raised his right hand and waved.

Guruluulu~
With a popping sound, Haven, who had been holding his breath in the bathtub, suddenly burst out of the water, the water flowing down his thin body.

I put the ring on the table on my hand, and as I channeled magic into it, the magic runes on the surface of the ring lit up slightly.

Haven pulled the rope by the bed after getting dressed, and a moment later, Brie, wearing a small green hat, came in.

"Sir, what do you want?"

Haven pointed to the bathtub and said to Brie:

"I'm done. Help me pack up. Also, how do I get to the Adventurers' Guild?"

"Okay, sir, I'll get it ready for you right away."

After leaving the inn, head east through two streets until you see a white building – that's the Church of the Goddess of Harvest. Continue north for 500 meters from the church. You'll then see the Adventurers' Guild building, constructed of red brick.

After listening to the waiter's description of the route, Haven nodded, picked up the longsword on the table, and walked out of the room.

Although it was already dark, there were still many pedestrians on the street, and numerous vendors were still hawking their wares.

"Try it, try it! Freshly cooked wild boar meat, so fragrant, only 5 copper coins a piece."

"Look over here, look over here! Top-quality wolf pelts, just a simple purchase..."

"The Mobilai Merchant Guild has just received new stock. They have everything you need, big or small. Spend 10 silver gros in a single transaction and receive a free hunting knife."

Mixing in with the pedestrians, looking here and there, after walking for half an hour, Haven, holding a bag of salted chickpeas, finally arrived at the entrance of the Adventurers' Guild.

Looking at the rather impressive building in front of him, he nodded in satisfaction and walked into the hall.
