Knight Lords: Infinite Simulation and the Path of Light
Chapter 24 Assassination
Chapter 24 Assassination
"Young master! Be careful!"
Just as Havent was about to say a few more polite words, he saw LaVine give him a hard shove.
Having lost his balance and rolled twice on the ground, Havent lay there somewhat dazed. When he raised his head to look over, a knight in black armor plunged his longsword into Raven's chest.
Raven gripped the sword blade with both hands, staring intently at the black-armored knight, the blood gushing from his mouth rendering him speechless.
The black-armored knight kicked Raven in the stomach, sending him flying backward and crashing into a wooden crate nearby, his fate unknown.
He turned around, looked at Havent lying on the ground, twirled his sword to shake off the blood, and walked towards Havent.
Seeing the black-armored knight rapidly approaching with his sword raised, Haven's strong will to survive prompted him to scramble backward.
However, it was obviously useless, so he could only stare wide-eyed at the knight's sword coming down.
At that critical moment, I felt a surge of heat rising in my chest.
'Voice, Sloth, Da'
Haven's chest suddenly swelled, and then a powerful shoving force erupted from his mouth.
Caught off guard, the black-armored knight was blown five or six meters away, crashing into Viscount Cecilia, who was stunned by the sudden turn of events.
After being thrown into the air, Cecilia recovered from her shock and lay on the ground like a duck, howling at the top of her lungs:
"It's terrible! An assassin! Protect Master Haven! Protect Master Haven! Attack! Quickly! Take him down!"
At this moment, the crowd seemed to wake from a dream, and the guards on duty rushed to surround Havent, who was sitting on the ground.
Cecilia scrambled to her feet and bravely drew her sword, charging towards the black-armored knight with a ferocious expression as if he were her father's killer.
The black-armored knight, who was thrown around in a daze, quickly fell into a disadvantageous position under the attack of multiple people.
Having caught his breath, Haven stood up with the help of the guards and looked at the black-armored knight, who was covered in blood and had been stabbed several times, and shouted:
"Take him under control, but leave him alive!"
Upon hearing Haven's voice, Cecilia, eager to prove herself or clear her name, rushed forward without hesitation.
The high-ranking knight's strength was on full display. Under Viscount Cecilia's desperate attack, he swung his sword, and the black-armored knight's sword-wielding arm flew directly into the sky.
The remaining knights rushed forward and pinned the black-armored knight to the ground.
Hearing the commotion, Earl Hyland and Earl Morley also rushed over. Earl Hyland looked tense, like a large, burning torch flying towards them.
Count Morrie, who was lagging far behind, jogged all the way here, panting heavily.
"How is your son? What happened?"
Earl Hyland descended to Haven's side, anxiously looking at his son who was covered in dirt.
Seeing that the situation had stabilized, Haven patted Earl Hyland's belly with great nonchalance, indicating that he was alright.
Viscount Cecilia saw Earl Hyland descend from the sky and hurried over.
“Your Excellency, it was all due to my carelessness. If it weren’t for Young Master Havent’s quick thinking and outstanding abilities, I fear I would have made a grave mistake. Please punish me, Your Excellency.”
Viscount Cecilia stood ramrod straight, looking nervously at Earl Hyland. At that moment, Earl Mori also arrived.
Although Havent was also puzzled as to why this person would suddenly attack him, and what it was that had just repelled the black-armored knight, he remembered Raven, who had shielded him from the attack, and decided to check on him first.
Arriving at the wooden crate where Raven had been kicked away, several soldiers had already moved the broken crate aside. "Raven? Raven?"
The kneeling soldier had already removed Baron Raven's upper body armor, revealing a large gash on his bare right chest, but the soldier had already stopped bleeding after a quick treatment.
Lying on the ground, pale-faced, Raven heard someone calling him. He opened his eyes, saw Havent, and weakly said...
"Young Master Haven, it's so good that you're alright."
Haven reached out and patted Raven on the shoulder, giving him a grateful smile.
"Thank you, Raven. If it weren't for you, I would have been finished. I'll have the teacher arrange treatment for you so you can get better soon. We have an agreement, Viscount Raven!"
On the other side, after Cecilia and the guards recounted the story, the two understood the reason for the incident. Count Mori and Count Hyland exchanged a glance and waved to the knight who was holding down the black-armored knight.
"Let him go. Soldiers, bring him over."
The black-armored knight, who had lost an arm, was pale and had blue lips due to excessive blood loss.
"What's your name? Who ordered you to do this? Why did you attack Haven?"
The black-armored knight was held up by soldiers in front of the two counts. The intense pain from his severed arm made him tremble uncontrollably. He did not answer Count Mori's questions, but only kept sneering, with a hint of contempt in his sneering.
Seeing that the black-armored knight remained silent, the enraged Viscount Cecilia kicked the latter hard in the stomach, then turned and, with a slight bow, addressed Count Mori.
"Lord Mori, this fellow is called Dalot. He came to my side half a year ago."
This son of a bitch said he was also from the North, and had become a wandering knight due to some personal problems. I saw he was quite skilled, so I took him in.
Standing to the side, Haven took the opportunity to carefully examine the black-armored knight's face. He didn't recognize him at all. Why would someone who had no grudge against him want to kill him?
After hearing Cecilia's explanation, Count Mori took a few steps toward Dalot.
"Your name is Darot? A Northerner?"
When asked by Count Mori, Dalot remained silent.
Hey? I have a question for you.
Haven stepped forward and, without waiting for Dalot's reply, began to speak.
Do we know each other? We probably don't, at least I don't know you. That means I haven't hurt you at least.
Since I have never intentionally harmed you, and you have clearly targeted me, it means you are well aware of the consequences of my death.
Viscount Cecilia has been in Whiterun for a week. You had many opportunities this week, but you didn't make a move, which means killing me during that time would have been pointless.
The current situation is that although the Church of Death has left, it has left many problems in the North.
Assuming you clearly understand the North's stance, my death at this point in time would inevitably cause immense chaos, making Viscount Cecilia the prime suspect, and plunging the North into a crisis of trust.
At this point, Haven got a little excited, pushed up his non-existent glasses, and exclaimed, "A new machine! Wow, I can touch my belly right now!"
"The chaos in the North is only beneficial to two sides, or rather, extremely important to only one side."
However, the church shouldn't accept just anyone, especially someone as worthless as you. So, you must be a spy for some shady southern lord.
