Chapter 119 'Owls and Wine' Tavern

Chapter 119 'Owls and Wine' Tavern

Royal Library Top Floor Director's Rest Area
"Alpha, is this the child?"

An elderly man dressed in the robes of a great mage sat at a large wooden table and asked Alpha, who was standing in front of the French windows.

Alpha stood before the floor-to-ceiling window, gazing at the scenery below. The tea leaves, like resurrection leaves, swirled and swished in his teacup, releasing a peculiar aroma. He took a small sip and said:
"Perhaps, Savos, perhaps not. Whether it is or not, we have to face what is to come. However, all the clues in the prophecy and revelation point to him, and there is indeed the aura of several gods on him."

The legendary mage of Savos also stood up and walked to the window, looking down at the bustling crowd below, and sighed:
"That's great! So vibrant!"

Did you go to His Majesty's place? What did he say this time?

Alpha stood quietly by the window, holding a teacup, next to Savos, his eyes glazed over as he looked at the crowd below.

"It's not good. His Majesty didn't directly agree to this. He said that the Empire's current situation is quite complicated, and they are not able to fully cooperate with us at the moment. Of course, it's also possible that the nobles disagree. After all, as you know, that matter from many years ago has not been completely resolved."

Upon hearing Alpha's reply, Savos's face showed a rare look of worry, and he let out a deep sigh.

"Sigh, so we're just going to be dragged along like this, doing nothing and just watching? But the things that are about to happen won't wait for us."

Alpha turned to the side and patted Savos on the shoulder:

“Old friend. No one can predict the future. We don’t even know if all the work we’re doing now will be worthwhile, let alone persuading Frederick to support us. After all, future difficulties are for the future, and he has enough troubles right now to keep him occupied.”

Doing something is always difficult; it's never easy. All we can do is do what we're supposed to do and wait for the opportunity for change to arise.

After saying that, the two looked at the setting sun in the distance and fell into deep thought, it was unknown what they were thinking.

'Owl and Wine' Tavern

Haven, along with Lori and Cuban, were sitting in an inconspicuous corner of the tavern, peeling and eating dried fruit, with several bottles of different styles of liquor in front of them.

"Hey Cuban, you look great lately."

"Hahahaha~ I still have to thank you, Haven. Since you came, with your help, I no longer have to bear the burden of the North's honor alone, which makes things much easier for me. Thank you so much, Haven!"

Looking into Cubant's sincere eyes, Havent smiled knowingly, understanding very well the feeling of being able to live freely.

“Then we’ll wait until you’re done here, and then we’ll go to ‘Grah’s Restaurant’ together. Uri and I ate there last time, and the food was really good. You, me, Lori, and Uri, let’s all come together.”

“Great, Haven, that’s an honor. You’ve been at the academy for a while now. Once I finish my assignments in the next few days, I’ll take you to meet our other friends. They’ve been admiring you for a long time.”

Will dusted off the cat's paw fruit crumbs from his hands, picked up the large silver glass, and downed a full glass of craft beer with ice in one gulp.

"Hiccup... other friends? What friends? Huh? Uri?"

Originally, Cuban was about to tell Havel about the friends he hadn't met yet when he noticed Havel's shifting gaze. Curious, Cuban followed Havel's eyes and saw the purple-haired girl and a group of girls her age walking into 'Owls and Wine' together. The group was chattering away, making it seem quite lively.

"Havent, do you know them?"

Faced with Cuban's slightly surprised question, Haven first nodded, then shook his head and said:
"No, I only recognize the one with purple hair, that's Uri, I don't recognize the others."

Seeing Uly standing among the group of women, Haven didn't seem inclined to get up and greet her. However, Uly looked around the tavern and spotted Haven and his group drinking in a corner.

The little girl's outfit today was exceptionally fitting. She wore an exquisite wide-brimmed hat with gorgeous feathers and flowers adorning the brim, which complemented her smooth, long purple hair perfectly. Her face was lightly made up, with a touch of purplish-black hue emphasizing her large eyes, paired with her bright pink lips, making her look even more charming.

The dress she wore was slightly different from the one she wore when they first met in the classroom. Although she was also wearing a white dress today, the deep V-neck design added a touch of allure to the girl's usual innocence, and a light green water sapphire necklace made her neck look even longer.

The moment she saw Haven, a look of obvious joy appeared on her face. She walked up to Haven in her deerskin high heels, her big eyes curving into beautiful crescent moons with her smile.

"Havent, what are you doing here? Why didn't you come to class yesterday? You weren't here when Ms. Sivana took attendance yesterday!"

Having said that, she disregarded her ladylike attire and pulled out a chair to sit next to Haven.

Upon hearing the latter part of Uri's words, Haven's previously lazy expression instantly changed. He raised an eyebrow. After chatting with Grandpa Alpha in the library, he opened the necklace space left by Grandpa Alpha and found many, many things inside, including the books he had originally planned to find in the library. He became so engrossed in reading them that he completely forgot he had a potions class yesterday.

"Oh no!!! Oh my god, I'm doomed in class next time."

Feeling increasingly frustrated, Haven scratched his head in annoyance.

"I heard Ms. Sivana is an extremely strict woman, with a failure rate as high as 50%. Doesn't that mean I've left a very bad impression on her? And it seems she's very close to my mother, so I'm even more doomed."

Looking at Havent's annoyed expression, Uri finally couldn't help but burst out laughing:
"Hehehe~ Silly boy, I was just kidding. Ms. Sivana didn't take attendance yesterday at all~"

Seeing Uli smiling like a cunning little fox who had succeeded in her scheme, Haven knew perfectly well that he had been tricked by this somewhat quirky girl, and he reached out to pinch the soft flesh on Uli's waist.

Cuban sat beside them, watching the two playfully bickering, and couldn't help but sigh, "Some people are just born with something that's truly incomparable."

"Hey! Uli, who's this handsome guy? Why don't you introduce him to the ladies?"

The girls who had come with Wuli earlier also gathered around, and the place instantly became lively with their chatter.

A large group of beautiful young girls sat around Haven's table, and the various perfumes made Haven sneeze loudly.

"Rihanna, don't be so reckless!"

Uri pushed Rihanna's hand away from Haven's shoulder and wrinkled her delicate little nose.

"His name is Haven, he's my classmate. We're just catching up. You guys go ahead and do your thing, I'll come find you in a bit."

"Yo~ yo~ yo~ Uli, you've really forgotten your old friends for the new ones, but oh well..."

Rihanna licked her sexy lips.

“Havent Hyland, the heir to the White Lion, he truly deserves it. I heard he taught that guy Freyr a lesson for you.”

The noble ladies watching from the sidelines all gasped in surprise:
"So it was him!"
Uli~ You're so lucky. How come there isn't a single noble person willing to stand up for me?

Hahaha, come on, Della, you've had at least twenty or thirty boyfriends.

Hey ladies, this little lion is so handsome!

Haven listened awkwardly to the group of noble ladies' unrestrained chatter, while Uri sitting next to him had already lowered her head shyly, her face turning red from her neck to her ears.

"Alright, alright, ladies. Let's go back to our seats and give them some space. They need to have a private chat."

Seeing the two looking embarrassed, Rihanna chuckled and gestured for the ladies to return to her private room. Before leaving, she turned back and blew a kiss to Haven. "Hey~ handsome, nice to meet you. My name is Rihanna. Let's have dinner sometime~"

As Rihanna led the group of women away, the atmosphere became a little awkward. Only then did Cuban and Lori, who had just been pushed to the back, dare to speak.

"Havent, you two talk first, Lori and I are going to the restroom."

As Uli watched Kubant and his companion leave, the blush on her face faded slightly, and she let out a soft whisper:
"They are actually very nice, they just like to make a few jokes."

"Hahaha, indeed, really, um. Very good."

Haven was about to continue the story when he suddenly stopped halfway through and didn't know what to say next.

"Rihanna is Duke Woody's sixth daughter, four years older than us, but she's not a mage. She's a second-tier swordswoman. She's a very nice person."

As Haven listened to Uri's explanation, he couldn't help but think back to Rihanna's appearance just now, and he felt that Rihanna's figure was indeed good.

"Senior Rihanna established a small team called Imperial Roses in the academy, which specifically takes in some low-ranking noble ladies who are harassed by noble children and some ordinary commoner female students."

"Wow, this idea is a bit ahead of its time. Isn't this just like a feminist fighter from another world?"

"Oh, Haven, what did you say?"

Uri, who had recovered, turned to look at Haven. The blush on her cheeks and neck had gradually faded, leaving only her ears still feeling hot.

"Ah, it's nothing, Uli, please continue."

"A few days ago, Rihanna heard that Freyr was constantly harassing me, so she invited me to join them. However, I didn't quite understand what it was at the time, so I didn't join."

"Oh, I see. So you've joined now?"

"Yeah. After you helped me that day, Rihanna came to me the next day and told me about her vision and dreams. She's really an amazing person."

She said, "I was lucky to run into you this time; you stepped in and stopped Freyr. But what about next time? What about the next time? So we can't always rely on others to help us. We need to gather our own strength to fight and help all women in need."

Will listened, his face filled with shock, and he couldn't help but exclaim:
"Holy crap, this is a feminist warrior! Pretty cool, huh? She's got something!"

"Ah~ Haven, what did you say?"

Coming to her senses, Haven noticed Uly's curious gaze and explained the meaning of 'feminist warrior'. Uly's eyes lit up with excitement.

"Wow, Haven, that's a great point of view. I'll tell Rihanna. You two would definitely make great friends."

Seeing that Uri was a little excited, Haven quickly waved his hand, indicating that it was not necessary.

"No need for that, Uri. If you think it's suitable and good, then it's your theory. Just tell Rihanna that it was your idea."

"What?! How can this be? How can this be? Knowledge is priceless."

"Relax, relax, Uli, if you really feel bad, just treat me to another meal."

"Okay, okay. We can eat it anytime."

Oh, right, there's something else very important I need to tell you.

Haven downed the mead in his glass in one gulp, smacked his lips, and gestured to the bartender next to him for two more bottles.

"What's the matter?"

"Freil wasn't beaten up by you. Although Rihanna intervened and they said they wouldn't bother me anymore, he spread rumors that he would still bother you."

"What, does he want to call a few more? If he doesn't call the high-level ones, just the likes, a few more won't make a difference."

"No, that's not it. After all, the college has rules. Senior students are not allowed to cause trouble for junior students, and those who are caught will be severely punished."

Hearing Uri's words, Haven, picking at the cat's paw fruit in his hand, said nonchalantly:

"That won't do. We're all the same age, it's the same no matter who comes. Besides, would he really do something like calling twenty people to beat me up?"

Seeing Haven's nonchalant attitude, Uri said anxiously:

"But I heard from Rihanna that Freyr is looking for her cousin."

"Cousin? Who's her cousin?"

"His Majesty's little princess, Princess Alice."

Haven spat out the wine he had just drunk and turned to look at Uri in disbelief.

"Princess?"

"right"

"Does this chubby little Frey have anyone up there?"

"Huh? Someone up there? Haven, what are you saying?"

"It's alright, it's alright. Does our empire's law stipulate that nobles cannot beat members of the royal family?"

Uri understood what he meant and was so shocked by Haven's bold idea that she didn't know what to say for a moment.

Seeing the somewhat stunned purple-haired girl, Haven laughed heartily:
"Just kidding, I don't hit women."

At this moment, Cuban and his companion finally returned leisurely from their urination escape, looked at the two men, and asked:
"Hey, Haven, what are you guys talking about?"

"Hmm~ Why did you two take so long? I thought you fell into the toilet and I was just about to call a servant to rescue you."

We didn't talk much. Uli told me that a nobleman I beat up a few days ago had called his princess cousin to teach me a lesson. I was just asking Uli if it's okay to hit a member of royalty.

With a loud thud, Cuban lost his balance and landed hard on the wooden floor with a dull thud.
