Hogwarts: This professor is too Muggle.

Chapter 169 Professor Levent cannot be selected
Half past three in the afternoon.
Wright remained standing in front of the green campfire, controlling the silver mist.
The green flames before them had merged with the silver mist, their forked filaments resembling the veins on plant leaves or the roots of some enormous tree, spreading out into the fireplaces of countless British wizarding homes.
The traffic officers around them were completely focused, like students in a classroom, carefully observing every step.
Arthur Weasley was also standing in the crowd; he had slipped over quietly.
Not far away stood the Silent Men of the Department of Mysteries, the leaders and staff of the Auror Office, including Scrimgeour, Shackle, and Moody, as well as some people who had come back from fieldwork, all watching and discussing with great interest.
The green flames surged, but were not intensely hot.
The modification will take some time to complete, and then testing will be conducted to ensure stable and secure transmission that will not interfere with normal material transportation. The official connection to the mirror will likely begin tomorrow afternoon or later.
Melvin is not involved in the specific renovation work. He is only attending today as the person in charge of the Magic Mirror Club. His main purpose is to meet with several directors to thank them for helping to refute Fudge.
"The Ministry of Magic hasn't been this lively in many years..."
Ms. Burns stood on the periphery and watched, smiling as she said, "The last time the Floo Network Administration gathered so many wizards was probably 150 years ago for a renovation and inspection. It's said that the entire wizarding world was in a state of panic because of that disappearance case, and even began to boycott Floo Network."
Crouch, standing nearby, frowned slightly. "That doesn't count as a missing person case, and that erroneous teleportation can't be considered a problem with the Floo Network."
Before being transferred to the Department of International Affairs, this director had worked in the Department of Legal Enforcement and had read the relevant case files, so he was deeply impressed by this case.
"Are you talking about the case of Violet Diliman's disappearance?"
Melvin asked if he had found relevant materials in the library when he was studying FiluNet.
It was the autumn of 1855. The witch Violet Diliman had a fight with her husband Albert and finally jumped into the fireplace in the living room. While sobbing and crying, she used Floo Net to go back to her parents' house to complain.
Albert paid no heed, letting his wife disappear into the green firelight. It wasn't until weeks later, when their house was in complete disarray, with not even clean dishes or socks to be found, that he remembered to look for his wife.
Using the Floo Network, Albert arrived at his wife's parents' house, but his in-laws said that Violet had never returned. Albert, of course, did not believe them and angrily searched his mother-in-law's house, finally confirming that his wife was indeed missing.
Violet's parents immediately reported her missing to the Ministry of Magic and placed missing person notices in the newspapers.
But they tried everything they could but couldn't find Violet.
After the news spread, wizards began to fear using the Floo Network, worried that they would disappear during space travel. The Ministry of Magic had to respond by ordering the Department of Transportation to thoroughly inspect the Floo Network and publish the inspection report in the newspapers. It took several months to calm the storm.
Twenty years later, Albert died of illness, and just when everyone thought the disappearance case had become a cold case, Violet reappeared.
It turns out that she had mispronounced a place name while crying and was transported to the Ozwarts family, several counties away. The rest of the story is a bit melodramatic: Ozwarts was a handsome and gentle wizard, and Violet fell in love with him immediately, bearing him seven children. They lived happily ever after.
Well, it's hard to say.
“Although it was Violet’s fault, the Ministry of Magic also had loopholes. If her teleportation point could have been detected and tracked, there wouldn’t have been any trouble later,” Ms. Burns said.
Crouch's brow remained furrowed: "Wizards are not gods, Amelia, we can't possibly foresee all the unexpected events..."
The two men had different opinions on the missing person case, and neither could convince the other. However, as directors, they were mindful of their status and image when arguing, and their tone remained relatively calm.
Melvin quietly moved two steps to the side, not wanting to get involved in their argument.
He glanced around at the staff and asked old Will, "Will Fudge be at the Transportation Department today?"
Old Will leaned against the wall with his head down, holding his cane. He hesitated for a few seconds and said, "It shouldn't be, I haven't received any news."
"No, he's moving offices for Umbridge!"
Tonks suddenly appeared out of nowhere, his purple hair particularly eye-catching: "Fudge was furious after being publicly refuted by several directors at the last meeting. He's planning to teach the Magic Mirror Club a lesson and is currently discussing with that pink toad Umbridge how to do something bad."
Melvin raised an eyebrow: "What does he want to do?"
"Don't worry, I've found you some help!"
Tonks grinned and pulled a small wizard out from behind him.
……
Leaving the crowded FlooNet administration office, the group followed the signs to the Apparition Testing Center. The small wizard led them into one of the offices, and the entire testing center was unusually quiet because the staff of the Department of Transportation were watching outside.
As he sat down on the sofa for guests, just as he was about to ask Fudge about his detailed plans, a steaming cup of black tea was placed in front of him. Tonks also took out some refreshments from the cabinet, clearly very familiar with the place.
While enjoying afternoon tea at the Ministry of Magic, they listened to the female Auror recount the information she had gathered.
"You mean, Umbridge is planning to sue me for not having an Apparition license?" Melvin's expression was strange; even his unconventional Muggle thinking couldn't comprehend this bizarre line of thought.
In the bright office, Tonks nodded, swallowing the donut in his mouth: "They just want to teach you a lesson, make you look bad, that's enough."
“Mr. Levent, using Apparition without a license will, according to the relevant regulations, result in a fine of no more than two thousand Galleons,” the short wizard sitting behind his desk explained. “If the situation is serious and the minister insists on severe punishment, it could result in up to three months’ imprisonment.”
Melvin turned to look at the thin wizard, whose skin was unusually pale, whose hair and eyelashes were almost transparent, and whose pupils were almost colorless, giving him an almost ghostly, ethereal quality, as if a gust of wind could blow him away. “Wickie Tycross, the examiner of the Apparition test,” the little wizard said, extending his hand to Melvin. “It’s a pleasure to meet you, Professor Levent.”
Melvin grasped the hand; it was thin and slender, making one hesitant to apply pressure. After a moment's hesitation, he asked curiously, "Mr. Tykros has albinism?"
Because magic nourishes the body and the embryo, wizards rarely suffer from Muggle diseases. Even if they are related by blood for dozens of generations, the worst they will suffer from mental illness. Such obvious genetic diseases are almost non-existent.
“I’ve heard of this condition, but I don’t have it.”
Tecros shook his head and said with a smile, "My current state is due to the effects of frequent Apparitions over a long period of time, which has weakened my physique due to the influence of unknown magic."
Melvin found it strange and couldn't help but take a few more glances.
"Let's talk about the license."
Tykros looked down at a form: "We hold Apparition classes at Hogwarts every year, issuing licenses based on graduation exam results. Adult wizards need to apply themselves, which is a rather complicated process, and there are only three opportunities each year... Professor Levent, have you ever obtained an Apparition license from the Magical Congress of the United States?"
"No."
"..."
Tecros frowned and pulled a parchment from the pile of documents on the table. It contained the schedule for this year's adult wizard exams:
"The last exam was in December, which just passed. The next exam is three months after Easter. If that Umbridge wants to sue you, it could be very troublesome."
“They just want to put you on trial, embarrass you, and show off their power. No matter what the final verdict is, it’s going to be a lot of trouble…” Tonks frowned as well. “That pink toad is really disgusting.”
The office fell silent for a moment, with only the sound of Tykros turning the pages of parchment audible.
"Your analysis makes a lot of sense."
Melvin savored the Ministry of Magic's special dessert, wiped his hands with a napkin on the tray, and calmly said, "Now there's only one problem: prosecution requires evidence. How can they prove that I Apparated without a license?"
The other two people in the room looked up at him, puzzled. Tonks reminded him, "They'll use a flashback charm to detect wands."
Melvin shrugged: "I usually cast spells without a staff."
"There might be witnesses."
"I don't usually Apparate in front of other people."
"..."
The two Ministry of Magic employees remained silent. They had been in their posts for too long, only thinking about how to legally and compliantly avoid Umbridge's lawsuit, without considering that the professor had never been a law-abiding wizard.
……
at dusk.
Mrs. Eckmore and several staff members escorted them to the fireplace in the main hall.
Almost all of them were old Will's friends, along with some Silencers and Transportation Department employees, discussing technical issues with Wright. Burns and Crouch, as directors, had their own departmental affairs to attend to and were not involved in this matter.
Only one leisurely director was among them, Ludo Bagman.
He had short, neat, blond hair, blue eyes, a flat nose, and a ruddy complexion. The loose, crisp, formal robe he wore looked tight and narrow on him, the fabric around his stomach bulging out, making him appear round and approachable.
During the last Wizarding War, Bagman had passed on intelligence to Lukewood, a Death Eater, and was therefore brought to trial. However, because the crime was relatively minor and he had accumulated good relationships with others, he was not imprisoned in Azkaban or even dismissed. After paying a fine, he continued to work in the Department of Sports and rose all the way to the position of Director.
His gambling hobby has left his coffers empty for years. Recently, he incurred a large debt due to gambling on football matches at a pub and urgently needs some gold to tide him over.
As far as he knew, the Magic Mirror Club was a very profitable business.
“Professor Levent, after the FlooNet is upgraded, we can watch the mirror at home. Now there’s a problem: where should we buy one?” Bagman asked with a smile.
"Currently, there are no stores selling mirrors, and Magic Mirror Club has no plans to open a specialty store."
"..."
Bagman's eyes lit up.
The taverns around the world earned tens of thousands of gallons last year. If he could become a distributor of the Shadow Mirror, his coffers would surely be as full as his belly!
Melvin glanced at the director and calmly said, "If needed, you can order from the tavern owners nearby. They are the distributors of the Shadow Mirror, and the price will be determined through negotiation between us."
Old Will was standing nearby, limping and walking slowly with a cane.
He looked at the stripes on the floor and thought to himself that Jack and Alfie would be very happy to hear this.
Their choice was correct.
