Huayu: A Commercial Director

Chapter 327 Internal Meeting

Chapter 327 Internal Meeting
He asked Wuershan to take over the filming, and Chen Shouzhe went to the meeting dressed in a suit.

The car was parked at the main gate, where a number of people were standing. They were all company bosses from the film and television industry, as well as high-ranking executives from China Film Group and other companies. There were dozens of people in total, and Chen Shouzhe looked very young among them.

"brother!"

Chen Shouzhe had just gotten out of the car when he heard someone calling him.

People usually call him Director Chen, so if someone suddenly calls him brother, it means they have a very good relationship.

Turning my head, I saw that it was indeed Jiang Wen, who had just arrived.

The meeting was scheduled for nine o'clock, and almost everyone arrived right on time. You could see Yu Dong, Yang Shoucheng, Song Ge, Zhang Qiang, and others not far away.

They formed small groups and chatted together.

Many people noticed Chen Shouzhe approaching, and they happened to see him looking at them as well, nodding to him from a distance.

Jiang Wen's car was parked nearby, and she saw Chen Shou getting out of his car just as she got out, so she immediately called out to him.

"Good morning, Director Jiang. It seems like something big is going on today," Chen Shou said.

Jiang Wen's expression was a bit serious. She pulled Chen Shou aside and whispered, "It looks like they're going to make changes. The problem in the film and television industry is already huge, and this meeting is probably going to discuss it."

"Of course, your company is fine, right?" Chen Shou said as they walked.

“No problem. Even if there is a problem, you know that if this is investigated thoroughly, no company will escape unscathed,” Jiang Wen said, shaking her head.

“I don’t think so,” Chen Shou said with a smile.

Jiang Wen glanced at Chen Shouzhe, then immediately realized something and laughed, "I almost forgot, you're from Golden Business Card Company. Your company really hasn't done this before?"

"No, not even once."

"Cattle."

Jiang Wen had nothing to say. You know, someone outside had roughly calculated Chen Shou's taxes, and he paid several tens of millions of dollars.

Isn't this enough to earn you a prestigious company? What leader wouldn't like such an outstanding company?
Many people came to the venue. Chen Shouzhe was invited to the second row. The first row was occupied by China Film Group, Shanghai Film Group, and Xi'an Film Group, while the second row was occupied by private enterprises. Chen Shouzhe was prominently positioned in the very center, flanked by Zhang Qiang from Alibaba and Liu Xiaobing from Wanda.

"Director Chen." Liu Xiaobing sat next to Chen Shouzhe, sitting upright. At the beginning of the year, when Chen Shouzhe became the company's second largest shareholder, he requested an investigation into that issue, and after checking it twice, he confirmed that there was no problem.

Now that the problem in the film and television industry has erupted, Liu Xiaobing is second only to Chen Shou in terms of being able to stand here and laugh while looking at his colleagues.

After all, their own home is clean and tidy, and it will be relisted next July. This time, Lao Wang was not stingy and agreed to give them benefits, so that a situation like Ye Ning's would not occur.

"Mr. Liu, just enjoy the show," Chen Shou said with a smile.

“Yes.” Liu Xiaobing sat to the side, chuckling.

Wang Yun, who was in front, turned around and asked Chen Shou, "Director Chen, how's the filming of Journey to the West going?"

"The progress is going well. We'll continue filming after the meeting," Chen Shou said.

"Let's have lunch together then. I'll visit the set this afternoon," Wang Yun said.

"Great! Welcome, Chairman Wang, for your guidance."

"You did a good job this time." Wang Yun gave Chen Shouzhe a meaningful look, while La Dong in the middle and Ren Zhonglun on his left also turned around and looked at Chen Shouzhe.

They were all surprised that Chen Shouzhe was completely unharmed and they couldn't find anything wrong with him.

Of the companies present, apart from Shou Zha Films and Wanda Pictures, all the others were investigated, and the results were naturally shocking. Companies like China Film Group were very disciplined and had no problems. These private enterprises, however, were a complete mess.

It wasn't even nine o'clock yet, and the nine seats on the stage were empty. People below the stage were whispering among themselves. Chen Shouzhe turned around and saw familiar faces. He saw Wang Zongjun glaring at him, Yu Dong, the composed Wang Changtian, the nervous Song Ge and others, as well as some other business owners.

It's fair to say that none of these people are clean.

At nine o'clock sharp, nine people walked in through the door and sat down in order. Tong Gan was in the middle, after all, he was the leader in charge of film and television.

"Everyone's here. I think you all know what this meeting is about," Tong Gan said in a deep voice.

No one spoke, each lost in their own thoughts.

"boom!"

Tong Gan slammed his fist on the table, startling some people so much they almost jumped up.

"It's appalling, truly appalling! One by one, good heavens, apart from those who are protecting Wanda Pictures and Wanda Pictures, not one of them is clean. For so many years, they've been operating in a clandestine manner, buying with one hand and selling with the other..."

Tong Gan called out names one by one on stage.

After cursing for half an hour, he finally stopped to drink some water, and the anger subsided a bit after he finished drinking.

"If it were just one or two companies doing this, I would never let you off the hook, but I didn't expect it to be standard practice across the entire industry. I only found two companies that don't do this, you really make me proud."

"The law does not punish the masses. All problems will be thoroughly investigated, and you will be held accountable for any omissions and punished accordingly. If there is any further concealment, you will face imprisonment."

Tong Gan glared fiercely at the people below the stage. Some of them had their heads down and dared not meet his gaze, while others seemed disoriented and didn't know what they were doing. When he saw Chen Shouzhe and Liu Xiaobing, he noticed that they were the only ones among everyone present who had smiles on their faces.

It made him feel both gratified and saddened.

It's comforting to see that some people obeyed the law, but saddening that only a small fraction of the hundreds of people in the audience were able to smile.

"Whether you listen to me or not is up to you. Once it's discovered, there won't be a second time. I'd like to highlight Wanda Pictures and Shouzhe Pictures here. Apart from state-owned enterprises, they are the only two companies without any problems. We will improve the credit rating of your two companies. Wanda will resume trading and go public next month, right? Do a good job."

Upon hearing Tong Gan's words, everyone looked at Chen Shouzhe and Liu Xiaobing. Liu Xiaobing was somewhat excited; this was good news. Clearly, the resumption of trading would be of great benefit to Wanda Pictures and could even alleviate the pressure on its parent company.

Chen Shouzhe, however, didn't care and instead felt that Tong Gan was making enemies for him.

After all, everyone else failed the test, but you were the only one who got a perfect score, which makes you stand out. If they don't target you, who will they target?
"Congratulations, Director Chen," Zhang Qiang said with a smile from the side.

"Mr. Zhang, you're too kind. This is what I should do as a citizen," Chen Shou said politely, though he was actually mocking Zhang Qiang.

Zhang Qiang seemed not to hear, continuing to look at the stage, his thoughts unknown.

Other leaders spoke up, calling for a thorough overhaul of the film and entertainment industry, a complete investigation from top to bottom.

After driving for more than an hour, Chen Shouzhe was about to leave when Tong Gan called out to him from the stage, "Chen Shouzhe, come to my office."

Everyone who was about to leave paused and looked at Chen Shouzhe with a mixture of emotions: envy, indifference, and resentment.

"Please wait a moment, Chairman Wang," Chen Shou said to Wang Yun.

"Go ahead," Wang Yun nodded with a smile.
