Otherworld Bone Dragon Operation Guide

Chapter 13 Electrical Engineering

Chapter 13 Electrical Engineering
Upon waking up in the morning, Su Ming began connecting the two parts as planned.

The transmission between the steam engine and the gearbox was connected by screws and various shafts, and it didn't take long if all the parts were in place. However, some pipes were not installed properly and needed to be welded.

The inverter's current couldn't power the welding machine, so Su Ming didn't bring it back in the first place.

He didn't teleport today and felt much better. He learned a few basic tricks from the skeleton and tried welding. Although he couldn't control fire element, the dark corrosion, once dispelled, made it surprisingly sturdy.

"Great, now I'm a junior welder," Su Ming said with a self-deprecating laugh, "and the kind with its own welding machine."

Since the equipment was delivered pre-assembled, the workload wasn't actually that heavy. Su Ming spent most of his time reading the instruction manual and checking the functions of each individual unit.

As for the skeleton, her task is also quite demanding; she needs to prepare fuel and water.

The fuel is simple; the so-called biomass is actually just plant materials such as sawdust, wood chips, and straw. There's plenty of vegetation around the Tower of Bones—grass, shrubs, and even small trees—all of which can be used. While not very dense, there's a considerable amount over the entire hillside.

So the zombies picked up their scythes and began their work.

But water was a bit of a problem. Su Ming had Bai Gu assemble a ten-cubic-meter pool and then told her that it needed to be filled with clean water.

"Pure water?" White Bone exclaimed in astonishment.

Actually, it's deionized water; Su Ming explained the relevant concept to Bai Gu.

“That’s the water without scale, the kind that doesn’t leave any scale after boiling,” White Bone said. The alchemy in this other world was clearly quite advanced. “But I can’t make it. I can make a little bit, but I can’t make this much.”

"If all else fails, how about you desalinate the seawater first?" Su Ming said. "I'll see if I can get a set of equipment to make deionized water."

“That’s fine,” the skeleton replied.

Her method was simple and direct: freezing. As the seawater temperature drops, the solubility of various salts decreases, causing them to crystallize and precipitate. By freezing the seawater into ice blocks and then separating the salt-free ice crystals, fresh water was obtained.

The skeleton drew a magic circle that continuously froze the water. Then, it added a new set of control runes to several zombies, allowing them to be manipulated in conjunction with the skeleton.

“Add a heat exchange stage,” Su Ming told Bai Gu.

The separated freshwater ice crystals can be placed in metal containers and soaked in the next batch of seawater to cool them down.

"Not bad." White Bone appreciated this technique; this cyclical cooling method saved a lot of magic power used for freezing.

There was a noise outside. The hall was closed, but Su Ming could still feel the fluctuations of fire magic.

"Someone from the other side came to say hello, I'll go and greet them," said White Bone.

'Psychic Vision!'

Su Ming cast a spell on himself. He saw through the sealed bone wall and saw the scene outside. A dazzling humanoid figure floated in the air outside the tower, occasionally casting a fire rain spell.

Soon, a faint purple figure appeared in front of the Tower of Bones; it was a phantom formed by the bones using elements.

"Long time no see, Archbishop Stanton."

"Good day, Chestnut Owl scholar." The person opposite actually bowed respectfully, and White Bone nodded in return.

Bai Gu maintained mental synchronization with Su Ming, so their conversation also synchronized. His eyes narrowed slightly; Bai Gu addressed the visitor as Archbishop, but the other party only referred to her as Scholar.

But this absolutely does not mean that Bai Gu has a low status! Su Ming, who already possessed some common knowledge of other worlds, knew that Stanton was referring to her by her title. Bai Gu's aura no longer needed titles; her simple professional name plus her code name was the respect the world showed her. Even the archbishop, who was on the opposing side, could only bow his head and pay homage to this heretic.

Horror!
If given a choice, Su Ming really wouldn't want to get involved in such a high-level battle of gods as soon as he arrived in another world.

"Are you here to give me a quick death?" the skeleton asked in mid-air. "My people shouldn't be here so soon, right?"

“I wouldn’t dare. The temple has no reason to offend His Majesty Ge Zelie over such a trivial matter,” Stanton said. “I was curious to see you using zombies to collect firewood, so I came to take a look.”

"Oh, I'm dying soon, so I'll just clear the weeds from my grave myself," the skeleton said indifferently.

“Then I’ll help you.” Stanton waved his hand, scattering more fire rain, igniting the vegetation across the entire hillside, and thick smoke immediately rose into the air.

Amid the crackling and popping of the fire, there was a faint thud as something fell to the ground.

Su Ming could sense the sudden anger in Bai Gu. However, she held back, knowing she had to save her magic for more important matters and not let it lead to a fight.

The skeleton dissipated into nothingness, and the archbishop didn't linger, turning and flying away.

"This is really troublesome," Su Ming sighed. "Stanton certainly doesn't know our purpose in collecting fuel, but all he needs to do is make it impossible for us to do it—he doesn't let any detail slip by."

“Basic battlefield operations,” White Bone said. “Is what we’ve collected so far enough?”

Su Ming glanced at them; there weren't many, but they weren't too few either. The zombies were quite efficient.

“The debugging and preparation phase is enough,” he told the skeleton. “We’ll talk about the rest later. Cut all the fuel into small pieces, the smaller the better.”

There was no need for Su Ming to show off the guillotine; Bai Gu quickly set up a zombie-shredding production line, and it started working with a sizzling sound.

On the other side, the desalination production line also underwent adjustments. The ice crystals that had been cooled once had melted into water, but could still be used to pre-cool the next batch of seawater before replacing the ice crystals for cooling.

"Truly worthy of being called a Chestnut Owl scholar," Su Ming exclaimed sincerely. Given more time, she might even be able to create a heat exchange tube herself.

“I don’t really like this title,” the skeleton said. “If we survive, these things of yours might help me get a different title.”

"I see. Then I'll have to think about what kind of job I should do," Su Ming replied.

Su Ming began to focus on his own work. He soon discovered that although the boiler combustion and the steam engine driving the propeller did not require electricity, these were, after all, modern products, and the PLC and touch screen that controlled them all needed power.

Moreover, since all switches and valves are modern pneumatic components, compressed air is also required.

Su Ming was somewhat nostalgic for Earth, where the system was complete; this wouldn't have been a problem there.

A wooden crate, made of a very high-quality material and covered with beautiful patterns, had appeared in the hall. Su Ming dragged it over, flipped it over, and used it as a table to store various electrical parts and tools.

"You..." White Bone seemed to want to say something, but in the end, he didn't.

Su Ming quickly set up a main circuit and connected it to the AC output of an inverter, which could provide approximately 3 kilowatts of power.

Although he had two inverters, they couldn't be simply connected in parallel, but the battery packs could be switched seamlessly. Su Ming connected the batteries removed from both cars to the DC side of the inverters.
