Otherworld Bone Dragon Operation Guide
Chapter 11 Steam Engine
Chapter 11 Steam Engine
In short, time is tight, and we can't afford any unexpected complications.
Su Ming manipulated the little troublemaker to move the things blocking the door, and gently opened the door to the storage room. There was no one in the corridor.
He pulled up the hood of his shirt, put on a baseball cap and a mask, along with dark sunglasses, and slung a backpack over his shoulder.
After getting used to the little prickly creature, Su Ming discovered that it was actually very agile and resilient. It scrambled over the stairs from the fourth floor and jumped directly to the third floor, barely making a sound.
The little prickly boy had very small feet. Su Ming grabbed a pair of women's sneakers from the third floor, stuffed them with countless layers of socks, and then jumped out of the window.
Someone spotted the little troublemaker and exclaimed in surprise, but he ignored it.
According to the information provided by Bai Gu, her enemies might arrive in three days, or perhaps five. But this isn't a matter of probability; if they aren't prepared before their arrival, Su Ming and Bai Gu's mortality rate is 100%!
Therefore, he must seize every moment to solve the problem of powering the bone ship!
He had just taken the opportunity to go online and found his target: a shipbuilding industrial area by the sea, more than 120 kilometers away, where he could find the equipment he needed.
It was rush hour, and the workers who didn't live in the factory were leaving on all sorts of vehicles. Su Ming ran to his chosen target, caught the owner off guard, pulled him to the ground, snatched his helmet, and then jumped on his motorcycle and sped away, rushing out of the factory gate before the gatekeeper could react.
The worker chased after the figure outside the factory gate, only to see the heavily concealed figure walk away. He then noticed an envelope had been slipped into his arms as he was being pulled; he pulled it out, opened it, and found 3000 yuan in cash.
"Is this guy crazy?" the worker cursed.
The motorcycle still had plenty of fuel, and Su Ming rode for two hours straight to reach his destination. It was already night, so he slowed down and, following the map he had just downloaded offline, quickly found his target.
According to online information, this is a small factory that produces small steamboats. However, upon inspection, it is not small at all, covering an area of over 100 acres.
Using his spiritual vision, Su Ming climbed over the gate, bypassing everyone and the cameras, and entered the factory area.
He first went to the workshop office, which was empty. The lights were off, but that didn't affect his spiritual vision, and he began searching through the documents.
There was a lot of information, and it took Su Ming some time to find the target: a small cargo ship of about 3000 tons, powered by a 2000 KW Corliss steam engine and fueled by biomass.
There were several factors that led to the choice of a steam engine.
First, there's the issue of fuel; they don't have oil, at least not yet. This means that those sophisticated fuel-powered equipment and gas turbines cannot be used.
Then there's the fact that Su Ming's current mana capacity doesn't allow it. He and Bai Gu have already tested it; the more sophisticated the teleportation, the greater the mana consumption. Although they can teleport in batches at intervals, what they lack is time.
Finally, there's the technology. Even if the entire advanced power system were copied to another world, Su Ming wouldn't even know how to preheat and start it up, let alone use and maintain it.
There's no time for research and learning either.
Only the steam engine, a creation from 200 years ago, is simple, durable, and easy to use, so Su Ming chose a relatively simple design.
If he could truly be unrestricted, he would build a nuclear reactor and keep the enemy at bay forever.
In the dry dock, Su Ming found the ship described in the documents. The propulsion system had been installed and tested.
However, there were too many cameras here to avoid. Although there was no lighting, the cameras had infrared mode and would automatically turn on when they detected movement. Su Ming didn't dare continue. There was someone on duty in the guardhouse, and the monitoring host was there, with a large display screen on the wall. If the system alarm was triggered, it would alert someone.
Fortunately, Su Ming knew the system's weakness. He found the network router inside the factory and connected its downstream network cable to the upstream switch.
The network immediately crashed, and all the surveillance cameras and recording hosts in the guardhouse went offline. The staff on duty rushed to check, but restarting the equipment didn't restore service, so they had to call an electrician. The electrician was at a loss, since the equipment appeared to be working perfectly on the surface.
The two fussed around for a while and then left, presumably waiting for the network repairman to come tomorrow.
Su Ming breathed a sigh of relief, hoping that the guy who fixed the internet wouldn't be cursing her behind her back tomorrow.
Finally able to enter the dry dock without restraint, Su Ming began the preparation phase of the spell. After assessing the situation, he discovered that the entire set of equipment needed to be transported in two separate trips.
It's 8 PM now. If he starts a full-power teleportation immediately, he can perform a second one after resting for ten hours, so he won't have to worry about the workers noticing when they come to work.
He communicated with the skeleton briefly and then began the operation. He chose the boiler and steam engine for the first transfer.
In the other world, Bai Gu and Su Ming had already matched the materials. She commanded her skeletal servants to move the materials to one side and pile them up. This would speed up the execution of the spell and reduce Su Ming's mana consumption.
"It's not a lot," the necromancer said with some skepticism. "Such a small pile, can it really replace the magical device that propelled me to run at 14 sections?"
"That's quite a lot, several tons," Su Ming said. "The size of the equipment will increase when converted, and this is only the first batch."
"That's incredible! I could install several units of that size!"
"We'll deal with it if we can escape," Su Ming said. "Teleportation is just the first step. There's also installation and debugging, none of which are easier than teleportation."
"The Simplest Way to Summon Everything!"
As soon as the runes unfolded, Su Ming immediately felt a pressure completely different from when he cast spells on a small scale before. The dark runes even faintly turned gold, a sign that the laws were about to spiral out of control!
"Miss White Bone, are you sure I can handle this scale?"
"It's not a matter of scale, it's about what incredible thing you're transmitting," the necromancer pondered. "The laws of this world are just afraid. It's alright, it doesn't have a clear will, it can't actually do anything to stop it."
"Are you sure?" Su Ming asked hesitantly.
“I’m sure, I do this kind of thing all the time,” White Bone reassured confidently.
Su Ming had a feeling that he had learned something extraordinary.
He calmed himself and guided the spell through the preliminary work of the first and second stages. Fortunately, just as the scholars had said, the runes were only trembling, and the spell was still running smoothly.
"Construct!" Su Ming raised his hand, and the material shone brightly, rapidly changing its structure. He felt a sudden emptiness all over his body, almost collapsing to his knees, but he gritted his teeth and held on.
He watched as the materials were assembled and the boiler and steam engine appeared completely before his vision went black and he fainted.
