Devil's Bible

Chapter 854, Night 2

After saying the name, Kru felt a sense of relief, but his vision became somewhat unreal.

It was as if the world before our eyes had been rapidly dismantled.

On the wall, a stubborn stain has become a hideous demon.

In the sky, a cloud looked like a group of people holding a banquet.

Not far away, the shadows of trees swayed, and these shadows looked like a big gray wolf chasing a little girl.

Kru was stunned; the whole world seemed to be divided into different things.

Instinctively, he activated his mental power, and a spell was formed. A wind blade shot out, clearing away some of the branches not far away.

Under the sunlight, the shadows of the trees changed; the big gray wolf was dead.

The little girl, however, has been rescued.

It was at this moment that Kru seemed to hear a timid little girl thanking him.

Then two dark shadows flew toward him.

After the two shadows merged into his body, Kru instinctively realized that he had gained two abilities.

The first type of shadow wolf can cloak itself in shadow at night and become a shadow wolf.

In this situation, most physical damage cannot reach him.

In addition, it can disguise itself and gain protection from the shadows.

The other type is the Shadow Cloak.

This is a gift from the little girl.

After using this cloak, he will be able to perform shadow jumps to a certain extent, but he can only do so once a night.

After gaining these powers, Kru instinctively wanted to begin hallucinating other things, and in those things, he could still see changes.

But Kru could sense that a distance had begun to exist between him and the other person.

Even if he changes the fantasy pattern now, he still can't gain the corresponding power.

"Once a day?" Kru sensed it slightly and found that this ability to make all things appear real could only be used roughly once a day.

That power was slowly recovering, as if it were being squeezed into his body from all directions.

A vague feeling arose within me.

"This is thanks to Lord Nemes."

After this thought arose, Kru no longer doubted this power; he seemed to have a trust in Nemus that transcended nature.

"Could I really be loyal to someone else?" Kru raised an eyebrow. After examining himself, he was able to determine his own situation. It was truly intriguing that someone like him could completely trust another person.

However, soon, Kru could only focus on his afternoon work.

During this process, while observing the seven newcomers, Kru also began to observe the others in the church.

Although the seven new members each seemed eccentric in their own way, in their normal state, they were really no different from ordinary church newcomers.

The other people in the church, however, seemed very 'rigid'.

They have fixed 'tasks' every day, just like puppets. Although they look like living people, they don't care about anything that goes beyond the normal situation, and even if they see something, they seem not to see it.

However, they also interact with each other to some extent.

For example, during Klu's current teaching assignment, Klu was slightly distracted and looked away, so a 'colleague' came over to ask about the situation.

Kru felt at that moment that a strange force was eroding him, trying to make him 'normal'.

His perception began to waver at that moment, as if it were about to revert to its initial state. Kru quickly found an excuse—his fear of being reassigned—and threw himself back into teaching, which stabilized his perception.

It was only then that Krue roughly understood that the dangers of the church could be divided into two types.

One explanation is that at night, the people here seem to revert to their 'true form,' transforming into something akin to monsters.

The second scenario involves forced cognitive interference if the church's tasks cannot be completed during the day, thus revealing an anomaly.

The first of these two dangers is a direct danger to life and death.

The second method seems to offer some means of escape, such as the wooden bird.

However, if cognition is disrupted again, then some opportunities may be missed.

Kru had a vague feeling that he had to seize the opportunity.

Otherwise, he will regret it for the rest of his life.

With this in mind, after finishing his teaching duties in the afternoon, Klu went directly to the cafeteria, ate, and then headed towards his dormitory.

However, he did not return to his dormitory during this process.

After entering the dormitory last night, I immediately started to faint and my cognition was affected.

In addition, the dormitory seems to be the only place that will not be affected.

Therefore, Klu did not return to the room.

Soon, Kru noticed that although the other newcomers were outwardly following the rules and heading towards the dormitory, there were always some unusual situations that would cause them to stop.

For example, that snake-man with vertical pupils always seemed to be overeating, clutching his stomach and pausing for a moment.

The other person, however, seems to merge into the shadows whenever they come into contact with them.

In short, this corridor seemed to have become a performance match for seven people.

They inexplicably dragged on until sunset, and then one by one they began to mutate.

The first to change was the snake-man with vertical pupils, who immediately transformed into the giant snake he had seen the night before, and then instinctively began to crawl up.

Those shadow figures simply merged into the shadows and disappeared.

As for the others, only one other person who learned the breathing technique showed some small scales on his body, and there were no other major changes.

The remaining people either vanished as light or disappeared amidst laughter and cries.

Another thing is that I didn't see any related people at all from beginning to end.

"These people are most likely my competitors."

"But...it seems their cognition is still suppressed?"

"Do I have a certain advantage over them?" After seeing these people mutate, Kru quickly walked to the other side of the church.

As I walked, I began to observe myself.

Sure enough, Kru discovered that his body was now surrounded by a large amount of black energy.

These auras were very strong, but Kru found it difficult to use them.

It's as if there's a conflict between cognition and all the power within oneself.

Only those previously acquired curses, spells, and forbidden knowledge can utilize the black energy within them.

"Or perhaps..." Kru tried closing his eyes and suppressing his consciousness, and sure enough, his black aura immediately began to operate automatically. (End of Chapter)
