Devil's Bible

Chapter 534 Trial of Cause and Effect

"This level of illusion power." Adrian frowned, noticing something was amiss.

Nems's subordinates are all somewhat overpowered.

Even though none of the individual stats are particularly high, and in terms of skill, they aren't much better than the others.

However, once they make contact and engage in battle, they discover that these people's strength exceeds what they should be capable of.

"Does Nemus possess some kind of super support ability?"

Whether it was Kru, Poole, the Clown Demon, or Salish in front of them, they were all very strong fighters.

And it's abnormally strong.

Salish also felt the satisfaction of following the right person.

He can only be considered an intelligence agent. As the demon Cambyon, he possesses special abilities, such as the ability to manipulate and merge with the emotions and original sins of others, and thus master certain dream and illusion abilities.

His mental abilities are actually quite limited in combat.

After advancing to a high-ranking demon, he entered his father Merkava's dream, and therefore did not benefit much from the numerical growth brought by the Blood Battle.

Under these circumstances, Salish himself did not intend to participate in the fighting, but rather planned to serve as an intelligence officer or internal affairs officer under Nems.

However, Nems' abilities are truly remarkable.

This power, after analyzing him, not only created a tailor-made fighting style for him, but also guided him on how to transform things like emotions and original sin into something akin to faith.

Nemus learned this knowledge from Phaethon, that mysterious giant spider.

The Mystic Giant Spider can extract a person's memories and transform them into chaotic power of faith.

As Nemus continued to study the power of faith and the methods of refining divine power, he gained a very deep understanding of this power.

So Nems placed some of the fictional beings under Salish's command, and also assigned many artificial souls to work for Salish.

These people, though united, might not be strong enough, but their unique characteristics ensured Salish's power.

Through the connection of faith, artificial souls and fictional beings became the numerical basis of Salish, giving his illusions a considerable degree of realism.

Blood was everywhere, and as Adrian walked through it, he immediately saw a woman in the distance pleading with passersby to save her husband.

His attention was instinctively drawn to it.

A stunningly beautiful woman, her body riddled with wounds and her clothes in tatters, was kneeling to one side, her hands resting on a man lying beside her.

The physical activity caused by crying and shouting made the white substance beneath the clothes change, which was extremely eye-catching.

The man had a severe wound on his body; if he didn't receive effective treatment, he would likely die soon.

The man's face was deathly pale. Although he hadn't lost consciousness yet, once he did, he would likely never wake up again.

Adrian immediately realized this was a good opportunity.

It's entirely possible to easily coerce the other party by threatening them with phrases like "Madam, you don't want to either..."

“However, aren’t you underestimating me?” Adrian said with a smile. “I can clearly distinguish my own desires.”

"I would have definitely taken the temptation at any other time."

“But now, do you think I’d be that stupid?” Adrian felt that the other person was insulting his intelligence.

However, just as Adrian was about to investigate further, he found himself involuntarily moving closer to the woman.

"Madam, you don't want your husband to die, do you?" The words involuntarily came out of her mouth. Then the woman said with a wronged yet resolute expression, "I'm willing to give anything to save my husband."

Adrian was filled with terror, but he found that he had no control over his actions.

"This is not just an illusion, but also has the ability of cause and effect." Adrian discovered that there was a large amount of inexplicable power in his body, which was frantically pulling at his body and controlling his behavior.

"Adrian!"

"I am now beginning your trial!" Salish's voice seemed to echo everywhere.

Upon hearing this, Adrian almost laughed in anger.

It has always been the clergy of the church who judge demons, but today this demon has begun to judge him.

While fighting against the power within him, he also wanted to hear what the other party had to say.

“Adrian, the first sin you have committed is arrogance!” Salish said.

"You think you are of a superior birth, so you have the right to enjoy what others have. That is your sin of arrogance!" As Salish finished speaking, a force quickly appeared on Adrian's body, then stretched and pulled painfully at his body.

"The second sin committed is jealousy!"

"You are jealous of the beautiful things that others possess, and instinctively want to snatch them away for yourself." As he finished speaking, a force quickly emerged, further pulling at Adrian's body, while the restraining control was greatly strengthened.

"The final sin committed was lust!"

"You crave physical pleasure, revel in it, and your whole body is filled with lust and debauchery. You are already a demon of lust."

As the final sin fell, another surge of power erupted once more, completely engulfing Adrian's body.

Adrian immediately sensed a deadly threat.

These three original sins are essentially three causes and effects.

He has been doing similar things for a long time, and he has these three similar causes and effects on him.

Therefore, these causal forces have now become the cause, and if this trend continues, it will inevitably lead to some kind of evil consequence, which is what Salish calls 'judgment'.

At the same time, within this illusion, he had completely lost control of his body.

Pulled by cause and effect, it moved toward the woman.

He knew in his heart that once he took that step, the cause and effect would be fully realized, and he would probably be ruined.

At that moment, a pang of regret flashed through Adrian's mind.

My initial arrogance and jealousy led me to embark on this spiritual practice of accumulating special mental energy by seizing ownership of other people's possessions.

So-called lust is just something that develops later in order to avoid wasting time.

With the emergence of this regret, the causal connections around him seemed to have weakened a bit, and the pulling force was also reduced considerably.

Upon noticing this, Adrian immediately began to repent in his heart.

During this process, the karmic consequences surrounding him gradually faded.

But when it came to the last part, they found that repentance was no longer of any use.

Based on the cause-and-effect relationship, a thought came to mind.

"Only by voluntarily relinquishing control over the green spirit can I extricate myself from this cause and effect?" (End of Chapter)
