Hogwarts: Dumbledore reigned over the wizarding world

Chapter 20 Professor's Invitation

Chapter 20 Professor's Invitation

Professor McGonagall took Vaughan to her office.

It was located on the second floor, and one could see the Quidditch pitch from the window, which was a small privilege for her as the Vice-Principal, satisfying her love for Quidditch.

Professor McGonagall returned to her office and looked less serious. She even offered Vaughan a cookie before asking:

"Mr. Weasley, it was difficult to ask you in detail in class just now. I believe you have practiced Transfiguration privately at home, correct?"

"Yes, Professor, using my brother's textbook."

"I thought I had to stress to your brothers how dangerous it was." Professor McGonagall pursed her lips.

Vaughan nodded. "So I've only ever tried to transform objects, Professor, starting with small things, just like Percy wrote down in his notes. Simple changes first, then more complex ones... That's part of my experience."

He took out the "Beginner's Guide to Transfiguration" which was filled with notes and handed it to Professor McGonagall.

Professor McGonagall flipped through it first. "A new book? Did you review it again before school?"

"Yes, Professor."

Professor McGonagall stopped talking and examined the book intently. After a long moment, she closed the book and smiled with satisfaction. "I see, Mr. Weasley, you are very well prepared and have kept very detailed records of each of your Transfigurations."

She did not show her surprise, but sighed secretly.

At first, Professor McGonagall thought that Vaughan had only dabbled in the subject, or had been tutored by his brothers and had some basic knowledge.

But after reading the notes, she discovered that Vaughn's mastery of Transfiguration had actually reached an advanced level. The evidence was on the last page of the textbook:
"...Today I successfully transformed the dried fish from Guoguo Tea into a mouse. For a moment, I thought I'd created life, but clearly not. The mouse's behavior was pre-programmed. It was just a puppet that looked like a mouse. It lacked the agility of life. However, this aspect is beyond my current knowledge. How do more advanced transfiguration techniques solve this problem?"

"Spells require corresponding emotions. Doesn't Transfiguration also involve this? To transform an inanimate object into a living one, or even between living things, perhaps we need to start with the target's thoughts and emotions? Or perhaps memories?"

I have to say that when Professor McGonagall saw that passage, she was deeply shocked.

It’s not because of Vaughn’s progress in Transfiguration, but because of his thoughts and conjectures about Transfiguration!

Such a genius...why Slytherin?

After hesitating for a moment, Professor McGonagall, a Vice-Principal who had always upheld fairness and justice, finally said dryly, "Mr. Weasley, you know, not all students learn at the same pace. Some are more... talented..."

She has always disliked dividing students into different levels, but this is the reality.

She continued, "For students who are progressing faster, Headmaster Dumbledore encourages professors of various subjects to organize clubs to provide more targeted teaching..."

"Mr. Weasley, would you like to join my Transfiguration Club?"

Her face felt a little hot, and she felt like she was secretly stealing someone else's girlfriend.

But she still looked at Vaughan expectantly.

Since the professor has the right to invite, the invitee naturally has the right to refuse.

Under her eager gaze, Vaughn smiled and said:
"It would be a pleasure, Professor McGonagall."

……

"So, you joined the Transfiguration Club?"

In the Great Hall, at the Gryffindor table, Hermione exclaimed in surprise.

"Of course, Professor McGonagall said that my level is sufficient. The classroom can't teach me much more at the moment. The other members of the club are at least fourth-year students. I can continue to learn there instead of wasting time in class."

Vaughn ate while filling out a form—the club's application form. Hermione stared at it, her eyes practically sparkling. She asked hesitantly, "If—I mean, if I could perfectly turn a match into a needle like you did today, would I also have a chance?"

"Not necessarily." Vaughan thought for a moment, "But you can ask Professor McGonagall for an application when the time comes."

As soon as he finished speaking, he saw Hermione hurriedly picked up two pieces of bread and rushed to the library like a gust of wind.

Apparently she has found a new motivation to strive!
Harry and Ron, who had been sitting next to the two and eavesdropping, looked at each other in bewilderment. These two guys were already beginning to show their poor academic performance.

Everything in Hogwarts was new to them.

Study? Wouldn’t it be nice to just play around?

They didn't quite understand Hermione's envy and goals.

I don't think it's a good thing for Vaughn to join any club or take a few more classes.

At least Ron was more concerned about the snake shield emblem on Vaughn's chest.

Seeing that Vaughn was still sitting at the Gryffindor table and had even snatched a piece of his barbecue, he finally couldn't help but sneer, "Why don't you go to the Slytherin table? Why are you trying to snatch ours? You think Harry is easy to bully, right?"

Harry: “?”

I don't really understand you Weasleys...

Vaughn didn't say anything. He slowly finished his barbecue, then took out a small bag from his schoolbag and opened it.

Inside is a brand new, complete wand care set!
Ron's eyes widened, and Harry thought he could hear him swallowing.

This routine is so familiar!
Ron's face flushed with desire and anger, and he wanted to grab the bag and throw it in Vaughn's hateful face.

But the years of oppression and the high price of the maintenance kit made him lack the courage.

According to his past experience, the devil Vaughn will definitely take advantage of his desire and tempt him to surrender.

He decided that he would not give in today no matter what. This was the belief of a Gryffindor facing a Slytherin!

Then he felt a hand patting his head:

"Here, Ron. You'll need it in Charms class this afternoon... Study hard and stop playing around!"

When Ron looked up again, Vaughn had gone far away, leaving only the open small bag on the seat.

Ron watched his back as he walked further and further away, finally disappearing around the corner.

Harry, who was watching all this, suddenly noticed that Ron's eyes were red. This somewhat careless friend was sniffing like a primary school student, tears streaming down his face. He reached out, grabbed the maintenance suit into his arms, and hugged it tightly.

She sobbed and asked, "Harry, not all Slytherins are bad, are they?"

Harry suddenly realized that Ron had actually been worried that his brother would change, he just didn't know how to express it.

Patting his shoulder gently, Harry nodded vigorously: "Yeah!"

the other side.

Vaughan walked towards the Slytherin common room, humming happily.

Who said he only has one trick?
