Hogwarts: Dumbledore reigned over the wizarding world
Chapter 17 Dumbledore
Chapter 17 Dumbledore
Hogwarts late at night is empty and quiet.
Any sound in the deep corridor can be heard from far away.
Snape's professorial robes dragged behind him, and his leather shoes made a hollow echo on the ground.
Combined with his cold face and slightly mean and sinister hooked nose, he could scare any little wizard caught wandering at night.
But today he was not here for an inspection. He walked up the spiral staircase, through a corridor lined with portraits and armor, and arrived at the tower on the eighth floor.
Then an extremely ugly dripping stone beast blocked the way.
Behind the stone beast was a movable spiral staircase, at the end of which was his destination, the principal's office.
Snape's face was wooden, his dark eyes fixed on the stone beast as if it were a pile of garbage. "Password: Cockroach pile!"
The stone beast turned away, Snape climbed the stairs and pushed open the office door.
The round, luxurious and spacious office was hung with portraits of all the past headmasters. It was very late and they were all snoring. The noise of Snape coming in woke up a few of them and they were scolded.
"Ah, Severus." Dumbledore looked up from where he was sitting behind the huge desk, reading something, and greeted him warmly. "Good evening. Would you like some cockroach piles or some buzzing bees?"
A plate filled with candy floated in front of Snape, who impatiently pushed it away.
His voice was almost squeezed out from between his teeth: "What's the matter? Tell me quickly, I don't want to waste time."
Dumbledore, still smiling, waved the candy plate over, picked up a lively cockroach and threw it into his mouth, then beckoned, "Come and have a look, Severus."
Snape walked to the big table and saw a letter spread out in front of Dumbledore, signed by Ollivander.
"After the dinner, I wrote a letter to Mr. Ollivander, asking him some questions. I'm glad that my old friend is still willing to pay attention to me, but his sleep and rest schedule is not healthy. I thought I would receive his reply tomorrow morning..."
He kept talking on and on.
Snape was in no mood to listen to this nonsense. His eyes quickly scanned the words on the parchment. Ollivander was explaining the details of a wand to Dumbledore.
"...I must admit that it is an extremely powerful wand. Only the most powerful wizards can gain its favor and love. I never thought it would belong to a child, Vaughan Weasley. It is beyond my imagination..."
"...But Dumbledore, in response to your question, I still have to say that there is no one in the world who is born unchanging, and there is no wand that is born unchanging. Wands and wizards grow and achieve each other. I cannot provide any solid basis for your concerns. I only hope that you will be more cautious-"
"Yours faithfully, Garrick Ollivander"
Snape saw Vaughan Weasley's name accurately. He looked at Dumbledore, and a hint of sarcasm flashed across his cold face.
"Why, another little black wizard is on your blacklist?"
The smile on Dumbledore's face faded. He pondered for a moment and then said, "I believe in Arthur and Molly."
Snape understood this to mean that he only trusted Arthur and Molly. As for that guy named Vaughn...
"Humph……"
This answer was not beyond Snape's expectations. He uttered an incomprehensible sneer and sneered, "So? I have a new task? While keeping an eye on our dear savior, I also have to keep an eye on his evil classmates?"
"I didn't say he was evil, Severus."
"Hum..."
Dumbledore sighed, "The timing is wrong, Severus. We need to pay attention to Harry's growth and ensure that he lives up to the prophecy. This is not me shirking my responsibility, but we don't know what the outcome will be if fate is twisted. Better, or...worse?"
He stared into Snape's dark eyes. He certainly wouldn't use Legilimency on Snape, he just wanted to make sure he saw his honesty.
"Help me, did you see that? Harry's eyes, and Lily..." "Enough!"
Snape raised his voice uncontrollably.
His nostrils flared, and a huge amount of emotion hit his chest, making it almost impossible for him to maintain his brain block.
It feels like poison!
It tortured him for 10 years.
There was a moment of silence in the office. After a long moment, Snape, whose voice had returned to its cold, indifferent tone, said slowly, "Nothing else. I have to go back to prepare my lesson plan. I'm looking forward to tomorrow. I hope your savior won't be outdone by his evil classmates."
After saying that, he swung his robe and left quickly.
"Thank you, Severus, sweet dreams..."
After watching Snape leave, the office fell silent again. Dumbledore lowered his head and looked at the letter back and forth, his skinny fingers stroking every word, as if he wanted to imprint them in his heart.
After an unknown amount of time, he spoke again: "Armando, have you ever thought about what would have happened to Tom if we had cared more about him in the beginning?"
In one portrait, an old wizard pretending to sleep turned over and muttered, "Who knows!"
"Yeah, who knows..."
……
The next morning, Vaughn, who had eaten and drunk well the previous day, got up normally under the influence of his biological clock.
The other two little snakes who shared the dormitory were more sensible than he expected. They just came back last night, packed their luggage and moved to another room.
It feels really comfortable to occupy the entire dormitory by myself.
I got out of bed and it was just 5 o'clock, not even daybreak.
Vaughn washed up, changed into a robe, and left the dormitory with some fruit tea.
When I passed by the common room, I didn't see the prefect who fainted last night. He must have been dragged away by his roommate!
However, the fire in the fireplace was still burning, probably thanks to the house-elves.
Vaughn didn't stop, pushed open the stone door and walked out of the Slytherin common room.
It was too early and the students, lacking self-discipline, simply didn't get up.
Vaughn wandered around the empty corridors and courtyards for a while, and finally found a path leading to the Black Lake.
Bringing Guoguocha to the edge of Black Lake, Vaughn patted its head and said, "Go play!"
Guo Guocha jumped and fluttered on the grass by the lake. Vaughn sat down on the spot, lazily looking out at the mirror-like lake and breathing in the fresh morning air.
This is a great place to relax. If there are not many people here, you can come and visit more often.
After relaxing with Guoguocha for a while, voices gradually came from the castle behind them. When Vaughn brought Guoguocha back, many early risers were already sitting in the auditorium.
He saw Hermione's disheveled figure at the Gryffindor table from afar. Guo Guocha also recognized the two-legged creature he had seen on the Hogwarts Express, so he walked over.
The girl was stunned for a moment, then seemed to recognize Guo Guocha. She quickly turned her head, and when she saw Vaughn, her eyes sparkled.
