Chapter 232 Yang Yue
Daxing City.

Yang Xuangan's visit was to prepare for the emperor's return to court.

As the Minister of Rites, he was personally in charge of everything, from military expeditions and returns to the capital to other sacrificial ceremonies. Although the Minister of Rites may seem to have little real power, he had a great deal of influence and could say something about almost anything in the court.

This is also why the emperor allowed Yang Xuangan to participate in court affairs as Minister of Rites.

The emperor's trip to receive the homage of the crowd was supposed to be Yang Xuangan's responsibility, but Yang Guang did not take him along, instead letting Pei Shiju take over all the affairs, which exacerbated Yang Xuangan's unease.

Yang Xuangan has decided to start a rebellion.

He was the first to know the route the emperor would take upon his return, and he was also in charge of arranging the welcoming party. If he could quickly subdue the emperor and the court officials who were returning with him, perhaps the great cause could be accomplished.

The luxurious Yang Mansion was heavily guarded, with warriors patrolling back and forth in various locations.

Inside the small house, Yang Xuangan carefully studied the map in front of him. The map marked the route the emperor took back to the capital, and the rest of the arrangements were written on the side. Yang Xuangan's face was very grim.

As the day of the emperor's return drew closer, his unease grew ever stronger.

What will happen to me if things don't succeed?
Suddenly, a commotion arose outside, as if people were arguing about something.

"Yang Xuangan!! You get out here right now!!"

A sharp sound came from outside into the room. Hearing this sound, Yang Xuangan was startled. He quickly stood up, pushed open the door, and walked out in a few steps. When he got outside, he saw several of his warriors blocking their way.

They were two elderly men, one supporting the other.

The steward, sweating profusely, approached Yang Xuangan and said, "I dare not stop you two lords from barging in."

Yang Xuangan glared at him, "How dare you stop me?!"

"uncle!!"

Yang Xuangan hurriedly bowed to the two men in greeting.

These two old men were Yang Xuangan's uncles.

The one holding a cane, with a pale face and no beard, and a shrill voice, was Yang Su's second younger brother, Yang Yue.

When Yang Yue was young, he climbed a tree to play and accidentally fell, leaving him disabled and unable to perform his functions. Because of this, he became ruthless and vicious. He did some insignificant things, such as strangling Crown Prince Yang Yong.

Yang Yue and Yang Su were extremely close. Yang Su doted on his disabled younger brother. Before doing anything, Yang Su would call his brother over to plan together. He liked his brother even more than his own son.

Supporting him was Yang Su's fourth brother, Yang Shen. Compared to Yang Su and Yang Yue, Yang Shen was much more mediocre, but still much more capable than the average person.

Yang Xuangan looked at Yang Yue with some concern, "Uncle, why are you here instead of recuperating at home?"

Yang Yue had previously been dismissed from his post and sent to a local area for privately worshipping Yang Su. Later, at Yang Xuangan's request, he was allowed to return to Luoyang to settle down.

Yang Yue was not in good health. After returning to Luoyang, he spent his time recuperating and rarely went out.

Yang Yue coughed, his cold gaze sweeping over Yang Xuangan's body. Yang Xuangan, known as the Xiang Yu of his time, felt a sense of fear under his uncle's gaze, and his heart trembled.

"If I don't go out soon, I'm afraid you'll send me to see my older brother."

"How could my elder brother, such a wise and perfect man, have such a foolish son as you?"

The steward dared not listen any longer and hurriedly told the warriors to leave, leaving only Yang Xuangan and his two uncles.

Even though Yang Yue insulted him, Yang Xuangan was not angry. He hurriedly apologized to his uncle and then went forward to help him up, saying, "Uncle, please don't get angry and hurt yourself. Please go to the study first."

Yang Xuangan, whose body was usually so tall and imposing, was now hunched over as he helped the thin old man into the study.

Yang Yue sat in the seat of honor, Yang Shen sat beside him, and Yang Xuangan knelt before the two of them.

Yang Yue narrowed his eyes and said unhappily, "If it weren't for Yang Wang's letter, I really wouldn't have known that my nephew was so capable that he was already preparing to rebel and establish his own rule?"

Yang Xuangan's expression stiffened. "Uncle."

"Hehehe, isn't that right?"

"You've sent all the young men of your clan to various places to serve in the military, and now you're rushing to Daxing to make preparations for their arrival. Are you planning to make your move when the emperor returns?"

"I"

"Also, did you send someone to kill Yang Wang?"

"Huh??" Seeing Yang Xuangan's expression, Yang Yue became even angrier. "You're sitting here, plotting all sorts of delusional grand schemes, yet you don't even know what's happening in Luoyang?!"

Yang Xuangan bowed his head again, "Uncle, please forgive me."

Yang Yue took a deep breath and couldn't help but look at Yang Shen.

"You knew what this brat was doing all along, so why didn't you tell me?!"

Yang Xuangan quickly explained, "Uncle, I was worried about your health, that's why I didn't dare to tell you."

"Hehehe"

When Yang Yue laughed, his throat trembled and his voice shook, making his laughter sound strange and terrifying.

Neither Yang Xuangan nor Yang Shen dared to speak.

Yang Yue looked at his nephew again, his eyes filled with disappointment.

“When you were young, everyone said you were dull and stupid, but only your eldest brother said that you would achieve great things in the future. Your eldest brother is never wrong. He said you could achieve great things, and you definitely could.”

"But it's not the right time yet."

“The sage won several wars in a row. Many nobles were stripped of their titles, but they were reinstated because of the war. Therefore, everyone loved and respected him and was willing to support him.”

"If you want to raise an army, you should wait until the sage is defeated, and even then, it must be a crushing defeat."

"A crushing defeat? But the Sui Dynasty has a strong and well-equipped army."

"Hehehe, don't worry. A country that loves war will surely perish. Given the sage's temperament, he certainly won't stop. He will continue to fight. As long as he keeps fighting, he will fail sooner or later. Even someone as powerful as Emperor Wu of Han almost destroyed his country. The sage has the ambition of Emperor Wu of Han, but he doesn't have the corresponding talent."

Yang Yue said slowly, "Besides, you are still young, so why rush? If you just wait and do nothing, the country will eventually fall into your hands."

Yang Xuangan suddenly lowered his head, "Yes."

"But now, you're in deep trouble. I simply don't understand why you're fighting against Li Yuan. These nobles from Guanzhong are your natural allies. Once the emperor is defeated, once the country weakens, and bandits rise up everywhere, you only need to raise your banner, and all the nobles will surely come to you. Why are you going against Li Yuan?"

Yang Xuangan hurriedly said, "Uncle, it's not that I'm against him, it's that he's against me! He's determined to curry favor with the emperor."

"What's wrong with ministers serving their king faithfully?!"

When Yang Yue questioned him again, Yang Xuangan was unable to answer.

Yang Yue coughed violently again. After a long while, he opened his eyes again. "Someone wants to see you raise an army sooner. This person knows you very well. Taking action against Yang Wang is to force you to do something. Your previous actions of spreading rumors were even more foolish. How could the emperor not see that?"

"Your current situation is extremely dangerous."

"There is only one way to solve this."

"I hope my uncle can inform me!"

"Do nothing, just honestly apologize to the emperor."

"Uncle, what offense do you wish to plead guilty to?"

"A minor offense will suffice."

"I will find a way to save your life. From now on, never be impatient again, and never think about your grand plan again. Remember my words: sometimes, doing too much is not as good as doing nothing. Just wait patiently."

Yang Xuangan felt somewhat aggrieved, but dared not refute his uncle.

Yang Yue sneered, "Li Yuan is just like his grandfather, single-mindedly climbing the ranks. If he wants to climb, let him climb. Let him climb to the top. Given the current situation, if you keep showing your face in front, in the end, it's probably a villain like Li Yuan who will benefit."

"You need to learn to hide yourself, let them show their faces, let them do the work, and then just wait for the fruit to ripen."

"Prepare a carriage for me; I want to go to the Emperor's side in person."

Uncle, your health...

"It's alright. Life and death are predestined. I can't let you, you brat, ruin my elder brother's reputation."

"Li Yuan. Hehehe."
