Chapter 330 The 4th Dimensional World
Chapter 330 The Fourth Dimensional World
Time passed by second by second, and soon the clock struck midnight.
The crowds in the station had dispersed, and the entire platform was empty and silent, with only a few lights casting a pale glow.
The three stood in the shadows of the platform, and none of them spoke.
Shinjo and Horii's hands had already instinctively gripped the weapons at their waists, their expressions tense as they stared at the end of the railway tracks.
"Woo——"
Accompanied by the sound of a whistle, a tram slowly emerged from the darkness, its bright headlights piercing the night.
The car door opened, and the lively voices of several young people chatting could be heard from inside.
Xin Cheng's eyes sharpened, and he was about to rush in.
A hand gently pressed on his shoulder.
It's Lin Yu.
He shook his head at Xincheng, signaling him to calm down.
Xincheng was confused, but he still chose to believe. The doors closed, and the last, truly last train slowly pulled away from the platform, disappearing into the night.
"Lin Yu, why won't you let us go up?"
Horii asked, puzzled, "According to my reasoning, that car is the key!"
"Their travel records do not contain the names of the missing persons."
Lin Yu said calmly, "So, what they're waiting for isn't that car."
"Let's wait a little longer."
The platform fell into a deathly silence once again.
Time seemed to stand still, and every second felt incredibly long.
About ten minutes later.
Just as Shinjo and Horii were beginning to doubt whether they had made a mistake in their judgment, two points of light shone again at the end of the railway tracks.
A tram that looked exactly the same as the one from before silently, like a ghost, slowly glided into the station.
There was no whistle, no noise of wheels rubbing against the rails.
It stopped quietly in front of the three of them, and the car door opened silently.
Horii stared wide-eyed at the eerie tram, feeling a chill run from the soles of his feet to the top of his head. He couldn't help but take a step back, his voice trembling.
"A ghost train!"
The carriage was brightly lit, but eerily quiet.
Inside sat several passengers, all dressed in office worker suits. Some had their heads down, some were looking out the window, and some had their eyes closed, but all of them remained motionless and expressionless, like soulless wax figures.
Just then, hurried footsteps and panting conversations came from the station entrance.
"Great! I made it! I thought I'd missed the last bus!"
"Yeah, I worked overtime until this late again tonight, I almost slept at the company."
Several office workers who had just finished get off work ran over with relief on their faces. When they saw a tram still parked on the platform, their faces immediately lit up with the joy of surviving a disaster.
Completely oblivious to the eeriness of the tram, they walked toward the wide-open door while complaining about their work.
Lin Yu's lips twitched.
Run! Hell is ahead!
He wasn't wrong, because what awaits these office workers is endless overtime.
Right now, I'm just working overtime until midnight. But once I get to the fourth-dimensional world and get brainwashed and hypnotized, I'll become a wooden pillar type who feels uncomfortable if I don't work overtime.
"stop!"
Just as those office workers were about to board the tram that would take them to hell, a sudden shout rang out on the silent platform.
It wasn't Lin Yu, nor Horii.
It's a new city.
He couldn't hold back any longer. He darted out of the shadows, spread his arms, and stood like a wall in front of the office workers.
"You can't get on this bus!" Xincheng's voice was hoarse with urgency.
The group of exhausted office workers who had just finished get off work were startled by his sudden action. They stopped in their tracks and stared at the man who had suddenly appeared, looking completely bewildered.
"Who are you?"
A young man wearing glasses frowned and said, "Isn't that meddling too much?"
"Yeah, I finally caught the last bus, so don't block the way!"
"Ignore him, he's probably drunk."
The group complained and tried to bypass the new city to get on the bus again.
"I already said you can't go!"
Xincheng was in a hurry, but he didn't know how to explain it. He couldn't very well say that it was a ghost tram, could he?
Just then, Lin Yu walked out unhurriedly, took out a Victory Team uniform he had somehow acquired and put it on, took out a Victory Team identification card, and even pulled out a Hyper gun. He said quietly, "Victory Team is on a case. It's dangerous here. Let's go quickly and take a taxi back."
"Huh? Aren't these my clothes?"
"Ah! My ID! When was it stolen?!"
Shinjo and Horii were both stunned for a moment, then turned around to look behind them and found that their backpacks had been ripped open. They couldn't hold back anymore.
No, buddy, we came out in plainclothes, and you exposed us in the blink of an eye? What if the aliens lurking here find us?
However, compared to the stunned two, Lin Yu's aura had clearly increased after donning this skin. The three office workers had never seen such power before and couldn't help but take a step back, then another.
"Is this a lie? It's a lie, right? I can't believe I'm actually running into the GUTS team investigating a case."
"Doesn't that mean a monster is going to appear here?"
"Run!"
Without a second thought, the three of them took off running. They had originally intended to complain, but upon seeing the officials, they abandoned all such thoughts.
The phrase "Victory Team handles cases" carries unimaginable weight in this world, and the public is very cooperative.
Because those who didn't cooperate have successfully restarted the game by sabotaging themselves.
"Woo——"
In that brief standoff, the doors of the ghost tram began to slowly and silently close.
Shinjo and Horii breathed a sigh of relief upon seeing the ordinary people leave safely.
"Alright, they're gone, we..."
Before Xincheng could finish speaking, he saw Lin Yu stand up, dust off his hands, and walk straight towards the tram whose doors were about to close completely, as if nothing had happened.
"Hey! Lin Yu!" Xin Cheng exclaimed in surprise.
"Follow."
Lin Yu waved his hand without turning his head, his tone as casual as if he were going to a convenience store to buy something, "Since we're already here, we should at least go up and take a look, right? Otherwise, this trip to Osaka would have been a waste, wouldn't it?"
Before he could finish speaking, he flashed into the air, and in the astonished gazes of Shinjo and Horii, his speed suddenly increased, and he disappeared inside.
"Damn it, wait for us!" Shinjo didn't have time to think. He grabbed the still trembling Horii and sprinted forward. The two of them squeezed in just as the car door was about to close completely.
The car door closed silently behind them.
The whole world fell silent instantly.
The tram started moving slowly, and the platform and lights outside the window began to recede into the distance.
"Huh...scared me to death."
Horii leaned against the car door, panting heavily, his face still pale. "I really thought we were going to be locked out here."
Shinjo, on the other hand, gripped the Victory Hyper pistol at his waist warily, surveying the interior of the carriage.
Inside the carriage, the same expressionless "wax figures" remained, ignoring the three uninvited guests who had just squeezed onto the train, maintaining their original postures and remaining motionless.
The only sound in the carriage was the slight vibration of the tram moving; the silence was unsettling.
“These guys…” Shinjo lowered his voice and pointed at the passengers, “They should be the missing persons who were taken away.”
"They seem to be under control."
Horii pushed up his glasses and analyzed in a low voice, "Look at their eyes, they're completely unfocused. That's a typical characteristic of mind control."
"Don't make a sound." Lin Yu's voice came from the front of the carriage.
The two looked up and saw Lin Yu leisurely walk to an empty seat, sit down, and cross his legs, looking like a tourist.
"They come, the security."
Lin Yu pointed out the window, "Enjoy the scenery of the fourth dimension. Not everyone has the chance to see this."
landscape?
Shinjo and Horii subconsciously looked out the window.
Upon seeing this, both of them were stunned.
The view outside the window was no longer the night view of Osaka. The railway tracks, buildings, neon lights... everything began to distort and stretch, like an oil painting that had been splashed with water, with colors and lines mixed together, forming a bizarre and indescribable scene.
Immediately afterwards, the entire carriage shook violently.
The chaotic colors outside the window vanished instantly, replaced by a deep, seemingly all-consuming darkness.
The tram seemed to have entered an independent universe.
I don't know how much time passed, maybe a minute, maybe a century, but finally the light reappeared ahead.
The tram slowly came to a stop.
The car door opened with a "ding".
A strange scene happened.
At the same moment, the commuters in the carriage, who looked like wax figures, all turned their stiff necks and stared blankly at the open train door.
Then, one by one, they stood up, their movements perfectly synchronized, like puppets controlled by invisible threads, moving with numb steps, silently surging towards the exit.
"We've arrived." Lin Yu's voice broke the deathly silence in the carriage.
Shinjo and Horii exchanged a glance, both seeing seriousness in each other's eyes.
"Let's go, follow them and see." Shinjo lowered his voice and gripped the Hyper gun at his waist.
The three of them mingled with the silent crowd and got off the tram.
The moment his feet touched solid ground, Horii couldn't help but shiver.
"It's so deserted here," he whispered to Xincheng.
The station before me was completely different from the Kisaragi Station I had just left. The design here was full of simplicity, with stone walls and pillars forming the main structure, cold lines, and a hazy gray glow.
But the entire station was deserted, except for them and this group of numb office workers; the silence was unsettling.
"It certainly has a strong sense of age. Is it really the lair of aliens?" Shinjo looked around warily. "But the sky is just too dark."
The station is designed to be semi-open-air, but when you look up, there are no stars or moon in the sky, only an endless expanse of pure darkness, like a huge black curtain that isolates this place from everything else.
After exiting the station, the group of office workers marched in unison in one direction.
"Follow them."
The three of them quickly followed, crossing a long street that was also full of the atmosphere of the past.
“Strange.” Horii suddenly stopped and raised the PDI on his wrist. “This is very strange.”
He pointed to the time display on the PDI screen, his face turning very grim.
“At least five minutes have passed since we got off the bus, but look, the time hasn’t changed at all!”
Shinjo leaned over to take a look and saw that the time on the screen was frozen at the moment he and Horii squeezed onto the tram.
Time stands still here.
Just as Horii was trying to analyze this bizarre world more deeply, two dark figures suddenly darted out from the alley next to him, their batons whistling through the air as they slammed down on the back of Horii's head!
"careful!"
Shinjo reacted extremely quickly, sidestepping Horii and raising his arm to block the two powerful attacks with his forearm!
boom!
A dull thud resounded, and Xincheng felt a numbness in his arm as he was jolted back a step by the immense force.
He looked closely, and his pupils suddenly contracted.
The two police officers who went missing at Kisaragi Station were the ones who attacked them!
Like the other commuters on the bus, they had lifeless eyes and expressionless faces, looking completely manipulated.
"Damn it!" Xincheng roared, his anger instantly ignited.
He held back, and with a standard fighting stance, charged towards the two policemen.
As the ace pilot of the Victory Team, Shinjo's combat skills are also top-notch. He dodged a sweeping baton, grabbed the opponent's wrist, and with a clean and decisive over-the-shoulder throw, slammed a policeman to the ground.
Another policeman attacked immediately, but Shinjo didn't dodge or evade, instead delivering a direct elbow strike to the man's chest while shouting:
"You two, wake up right now!"
The policeman was forced back by the elbow strike, but seemed to feel no pain, and charged forward again with his baton.
While parrying and counterattacking, Xincheng kept shouting:
"Did you hear me? You're police officers, not alien lackeys! Wake up now!"
The scene was somewhat comical for a moment, with a victorious team member angrily beating two restrained police officers and trying to wake them up with words.
Just then, a sharp gunshot rang out, abruptly shattering the deathly silence.
A bullet, whistling sharply, shot out from a dark corner in the distance, its target aimed directly at Xincheng, who was focused on "educating" the police, in the back of the neck!
Shinjo was facing away from the direction of the gunshot, completely focused on the battle before him, and was unaware of the deadly sneak attack.
However, the bullet could never reach its target.
A figure moved with lightning speed, arriving first despite being behind.
Lin Yu had moved behind Xin Cheng without anyone noticing. He simply raised his hand, extended two fingers, and steadily and effortlessly caught the high-speed spinning bullet in mid-air.
In the world of martial arts, nothing is invincible, only fast is invincible.
The entire process was extremely fast, without even making a sound.
So much so that Xincheng had no idea he had just narrowly escaped death; he thought it was because the other party's marksmanship was too poor and he missed.
Seven steps away, the gun is fast.
Within seven steps, quick hands!
