Chapter 141 Care
"What do you mean?" Deva keenly sensed that something was wrong. Personal attributes were a matter of life and death. Although this guy was reliable, asking about this was still a private matter. More importantly, she sensed that this guy didn't seem to have any good intentions.

Some menacingly put their hands on their hips: "Why are you asking this? Are you planning to use some targeted magic to do something bad to me?"

"What nonsense are you talking about? I need to understand my teammates, otherwise what if we encounter an enemy who can cast spells and curses you?" DuPont said without batting an eye, "I noticed you struggled a bit with the Slow spell before, your perception wasn't very high?"

Deva had already quietly put on a silver headband: "My intelligence is 16, perception is 12, and charm is 19. Perception is just average, but overall it's not bad."

After glancing at the Wisdom Bracelet that added four Intelligence, DuPont immediately understood the other party's base stats and thought to himself, "This isn't stupid. It seems to be a matter of experience."

"That's good, but it would be best to find an item that can protect against mind magic. By the way, tonight is just a celebration party, so I hope nothing embarrassing happens. Like some stupid rich kid suspecting me or taking a liking to your beauty and trying to pick a fight with me or something."

Hearing this, Deva was amused: "What are you thinking? The people in the church are all very nice. There's no such idiot among them. You've probably read too many chivalric romance novels. Besides, if you really encountered such a fool, how could he possibly beat you?"

"Well, I have to consider your feelings. If I were to hurt him, wouldn't that have a bad reputation? It might even make you a celebrity in the newspapers." DuPont couldn't help but laugh as he said this: "There are still idiots like that, aren't there?"

“Even if there were any, they wouldn’t be in the church. Although the church has some factions, they are ultimately of one mind when facing evil.” Deva was a little dissatisfied with Dupont’s constant malicious speculation about the church’s behavior. She took out her pocket watch and glanced at it: “It’s about time. Let’s go. I haven’t had a hero’s feast since I came here.”

"Hmm, is it delicious?"

"It's alright, after all, it's a gift from the gods, so the taste isn't bad. But people in Harua like to use recipes from summoned elves, while I prefer the taste of halflings." Deva counted on her fingers: "Vegetable salads, harvest purees, and the main dishes are usually roasted venison or some fish I can't name. But the desserts and bread are really delicious."

"Alright, by the way, should I change my clothes too?" DuPont took out his black, tight-fitting monk's robe from the church, since he had taken it several times and they had a good relationship, so he already had one: "Or should I wear my normal mage robe?"

"Oh, you actually have a monk's robe from the church? I didn't expect your piety to be recognized by the priest." Deva glanced at the style and was immediately eager to try it out: "Why don't I change it? Wearing those tacky black or blue robes all the time is so ugly. But this one doesn't use many tassels, yet it creates distinction and overall harmony. It looks quite in line with the aesthetics of elves."

"Why is the mage dressed so flashy? Are you going to be too conspicuous in the dungeon and become a target for monsters? Hey, I didn't ask you for help, why are you taking my clothes off?"

"Tch, who cares to look at you?" The paladin's face was flushed. "I just wanted you to hurry up and change so we wouldn't waste time."

After a while of lively conversation, the two went out together. When they entered the banquet hall, it was already brightly lit. A long table was already occupied by many people, all of whom looked to be mature men and women; there were no people their own age.

After the two entered, the monk on duty at the entrance glanced at their nameplates with a hint of envy and said, "Welcome Paladin Deva and Mage Dupont."

Upon hearing the two names, everyone turned to look at them simultaneously. Their gazes varied, but they nodded as a greeting before returning to their own business.

Seeing this, Deva knew things were not going well. As the younger generation, they had arrived rather slowly. However, the high priest had not yet arrived, and there were not many elders putting on airs. Instead, a female priest with a large bust and fair skin saw Dupont and immediately smiled and greeted him: "Dupont~ sit here."

Who is this woman?
Deva glanced at it and immediately felt a chill run down her spine.

Although he looked quite formally dressed, something seemed off about his eyebrows and eyes; it was definitely not a normal relationship between believers.

Could this woman be the Dorothy that DuPont mentioned before? The girl's suddenly stiff expression did not escape the priestess's notice, but her smile remained unchanged: "Is this the paladin who killed that vampire viscount Dacha? He's quite young."

Deva instinctively wanted to tell the truth, but suddenly DuPont touched her arm and calmly introduced, "This is my friend Deva, and this is Reverend Dorothy from the academy. She's been very kind to me."

Is it just taking care of someone?
The girl's eyes swept over the two of them. Perhaps it was because she was wearing the crown of wisdom, but she felt that there was something wrong with their relationship. At this moment, DuPont pulled out the chair in front of him: "Sit down. When will the food be served?"

Upon hearing DuPont's words, the pastor couldn't help but laugh: "What, you're actually here for dinner?"

“I’ve never been to a Heroes’ Feast before, so I’m quite looking forward to it.” DuPont said, sitting down between the two of them and whispering, “By the way, what exactly is it about this time? It seems like everyone here is a master.”

"Witch hunters, inquisitors, priests, paladins, and arcane knights are basically the elite of the church. They are the main force for the church in the northwest to exorcise evil. Luna and I are considered to be relatively weak here, since we don't go out on missions very often."

The female pastor looked at DuPont as she spoke: "I have to say, you seem to have a knack for causing trouble. You can cause trouble wherever you go, and you always drag the church into it. I don't usually get to go out as often as I do this month."

"Isn't this a good thing? We've exposed all the hidden threats! If it had really caused a disaster, it would have been a huge scandal." DuPont chuckled. "Do we get any official reward this time? This is definitely a major achievement, isn't it?"

The pastor nodded and was about to speak when she suddenly heard the monks at the door chanting holy names. Two monks in chainmail and holding silver hammers appeared at the door and took their positions. Everyone immediately stood up and bowed their heads.

Seeing that the paladins were all bowing their heads in silence, DuPont had no choice but to bow his head and salute like the others, thinking to himself, why didn't this old man make such a show when he went to Lavoisier last time?

"Everyone has been busy since last night and is exhausted, so let's skip these formalities." The high priest was not wearing a ceremonial robe, but instead wore a gray robe that made him look particularly simple. He took out a gold bowl inlaid with gemstones, closed his eyes and concentrated, and the incantation he was speaking was obscure and difficult to understand. He spoke so fast that even Dupont could not hear it clearly.

Ten seconds later, a flash of golden light appeared, and plates of exquisite dishes appeared on the long table. The golden bowl in the high priest's hand disappeared completely, and he smiled and said, "Thank you, Madam, for bestowing upon us this sumptuous Holy Communion."

Everyone repeated the message, and the high priest sat down and pressed his hands down: "Everyone here is either a pillar of the church or a close comrade-in-arms. I won't go into the complicated details. Everyone is quite busy, so let's eat and chat at the same time."

DuPont nodded inwardly. This was much easier than attending a wedding banquet himself. It seemed that the fat old man was quite approachable.

However, since no one else touched their utensils, he naturally wouldn't either. Several young cultivators appeared around him and poured the wine that had appeared out of nowhere for everyone. It smelled of a light fruity aroma and was clear as water in the silver cup, as if it had no alcohol content at all.

Divine Elixir: Made from flower juice and honey with some unknown ingredients, drinking it will grant you immunity to fear. For those in the evil faction, drinking it will be like drinking poison, causing additional physical damage.

They even detected the opposing faction! DuPont silently raised his glass along with the others: "To victory!"

He downed the wine in one gulp, its sweet aroma filling his lungs. At that moment, Dorothy coughed lightly, and all the monks bowed and left. The two men wielding silver hammers closed the door, and the High Priest spoke again: "Alright, let's start reporting from Griffin. Everyone else, go eat. Don't waste this priceless feast for heroes."
