Chapter 119 Enemy Attack
Chapter 119 Enemy Attack
Looking at the wooden bucket filled with wild vegetables and roasted lizards in his hand, Gala swallowed hard. He quietly walked to the back of the line and, taking advantage of the fact that no one was paying attention, quickly broke off a lizard leg and stuffed it into his mouth, chewing it greedily yet carefully.
A few days ago, a few super big guys came to the tribe. Even the strongest bear goblin warriors were swept away by these big guys and died in a few blows. Even the chief who usually beat and scolded them was so scared that he ran away.
Galah was also one of those who ran away. After all, as a goblin, its greatest skill was escaping. However, unlike the other goblins who ran around like headless flies, Galah ran back to report the news and found the wisest old shaman.
Powerful arcane energy flickered in the old shaman's hands, the flames causing the trolls to howl in agony, while the goblins, emboldened by their leader's club, ceased their flight. At their leader's command, they took out shortbows, dipped them in oil, and used burning arrows to repel the trolls' attack, driving the invaders out of their caves.
However, to Galah's surprise, just as they were celebrating their hard-won victory, the old shaman actually reached an agreement with these trolls, making them his mercenaries to plunder the surrounding beasts together.
This was good news for the bear goblin warriors. With these big guys joining them, they could attack other tribes, plunder their women, and steal their food. Even the Garudas could become squad leaders and no longer have to work. They could just eat and drink for free with a few underlings every day.
It wasn't that the leader had taken pity on him; rather, Gala had actually awakened his thieving talent during this battle. This extremely rare event greatly elevated his status, leading to his promotion to squad leader, and he could now eat at the same table as the goblin bear.
However, Galah didn't like being with those big guys who looked down on it. As a squad leader, it could beat up whoever it wanted among the goblins except for the leader, so it had something to look forward to every day.
The old shaman's words and the story of the Garudas filled the goblins with joy, especially when the shaman said that if they fought hard enough, the Garudas might also awaken. But just as the goblins were envisioning a bright future, the trolls asked to rest.
The flames damaged their skin, and even these creatures with amazing regenerative abilities need food and rest to replenish their strength and heal their wounds. They need a few days before they can go on another expedition.
This is a very reasonable request, just like how they can stay home until their wounds heal after fighting bravely. But these trolls are incredibly voracious; one of them can eat more than five of the largest bear goblins.
It's one thing for them to be able to eat, but these trolls also insist on eating meat, which has really put the goblins in a difficult position.
Who doesn't like to eat meat? Those bear goblins were so hungry they wanted to eat them all. Where could they get meat?
However, they had to find a way, since the leader's big club was merciless. While hunting, they also stewed the dead goblins into soup, which filled some of the gap. But some goblins were not even as tall as a blade, and they were too thin to be enough for the big guys to eat.
Fortunately, a group of humans suddenly appeared. With the shaman's guidance and the trolls' cooperation, they successfully wiped out the troublesome humans after some goblins were killed, and stole a lot of shiny coins.
With these new corpses, the trolls finally calmed down, and even the goblins took advantage of the situation to gnaw on bones with plenty of meat for several meals. However, to Galactus' surprise, it did not find any of the humans' equipment. It only saw a magical spear and chainmail on the leader, and the shaman had some additional decorations, but everything else seemed to have disappeared.
The other goblins were too foolish to think about such things as long as they had food to eat, but Galahad thought of a possibility: the old shaman or the chieftain had hidden these spoils!
When the next expedition comes, the old shaman and the chief will definitely go out too. I'll find a chance to visit their caves then, and all the hidden treasures will be mine! Gala became more and more excited as it thought about it. It spat out the lizard bones that were now completely devoid of any flavor, glared at the goblins in front of it that had also heard the noise and wanted to steal some food. Just as it was about to scold them, it suddenly heard a loud bang like thunder. The two goblins in front of it flew out like ripped bags, their chest bones and flesh blown off.
Seeing this, the rest of the goblins in the food delivery team couldn't help but let out a piercing scream. However, Gara shrank back and no longer cared about the wooden bucket in his hand. After running a long distance, he used all his strength to blow the bone flute tied around his neck with a grass rope.
Upon hearing the sharp sound, the old shaman inside the house immediately opened his eyes and muttered to himself, "The enemy is here? But how come they're here so quickly?"

With one shot, two goblins were sent away. The remaining goblins scattered like birds and beasts, their escape routes chaotic. Due to their short stature, DuPont's second shot missed these cunning little creatures. He had no choice but to throw three missiles, which hit three goblins, directly injuring two of them so badly that they lay on the ground, their lives hanging in the balance.
The remaining goblin limped away, only to be pierced through the body by a light crossbow bolt.
The ranger stared in disbelief at the musket in DuPont's hand. This was the first time he had ever witnessed the power of firearms, and he suddenly felt that his bow and arrows were no longer appealing: "Wow, is this a musket? Its destructive power is terrifying! This goblin is wearing leather armor, yet it still has a hole in his chest. Master, can I borrow this thing to play with?"
DuPont glanced at the other party, too lazy to make an excuse, and refused directly: "I can't lend this out. Besides, this gun is a magical weapon. Ordinary firearms don't have that much power. If you don't handle it properly, you might blow yourself up."
Feeling somewhat embarrassed by such a decisive rejection, the ranger chuckled awkwardly, "That's too dangerous, then forget it."
The paladin had returned from the front, blood dripping from her sword: "I've relieved those two goblins of their suffering, but a few escaped. Didn't we alert them and make it harder to wipe them out?"
“Our mission isn’t to wipe out the goblins, but to hunt down two trolls.” DuPont used magic to quickly clean the gun barrel, and as he pointed his finger at the ground, a cloud of black ash scattered and disappeared. “As for the rest, they’re just side missions. These goblin ears aren’t worth much.”
“It would be ideal to eliminate the threat in one fell swoop; killing these guys would also reduce the threat to the surrounding villages.” As she spoke, the blood on the paladin's blade had disappeared. She brought her left hand to her chest, and a dazzling divine power swirled around DuPont from her fingertips: “Per fidem et sacrum, Scutum Pietatis adsit!”
As the incantation was completed, the golden light turned transparent, and a small magical field appeared around DuPont, causing him to raise an eyebrow: "A shield of devotion? Why don't you cast one on yourself?"
“I have plate armor!” The paladin tapped his breastplate with his gleaming silver gauntlets. This expensive armor, made of mithril, was as light as chainmail, yet possessed the hardness and unique toughness of steel. “The Shield of Devotion can only last for 10 minutes at most. Let’s hurry.”
"Hmm," DuPont responded, glancing at the dexterity gloves he had bought for 3600 gold yesterday.
His current defense bonus is far more outrageous than that of plate armor.
