Chapter 200 The Alchemy Value of the Murals
Not long after entering the Logara Forest, Nico stopped under a rather conspicuous birch tree.
Black, rejected, paced back and forth around Nico. He didn't seem to be comforted by those words, nor did he seem to have much patience. He was still eager to find Snape and Harry.
"Weren't you going to that place? Why are you stopping here now?"
"I contacted the Albanian Ministry of Magic and submitted an application posing as a French State Alchemist, hoping to gain access to information about what was happening in the Fire Dragon Nature Reserve in the Logara Forest."
Nico patiently explained.
"Although they were puzzled as to why I knew so much about this matter, because of my status as a State Alchemist, they promised to send someone to pick me up again, so don't worry, things have been arranged."
Black shut up and didn't say anything more, but he didn't stop pacing back and forth. Even though Nico had told him that there were preparations in place, he still felt that unless he was going to find Snape and Harry, it was a waste of time!
However, he now clearly has no choice but to follow Nico, otherwise he won't even be able to find Harry Snape and the others.
In Blake's perception, every minute and every second felt like an eternity, but in reality, they didn't have to wait long.
Around 10:30 a.m., the Albanian Auror Cabunara, who had previously ventured deep underground with Severus to resist the basilisk monster, appeared in phantom form next to Nico.
"Mr. Williams?"
Upon seeing Ni Ke, he warmly extended his hand.
Nico, who was clearly not using his real name, also smiled and shook his hand.
“Mr. Cabunara, is that right? Ah, it’s a pleasure to meet you!”
"The ministry said a professional French state alchemist would come to provide support. At first, I thought it was some kind of scammer, but after contacting the French side, I found out that it was actually an alchemy master!"
Cabunara praised it.
This wasn't exactly a compliment, because Nicolas's false identity was that of the current president of the Alchemy Guild. Even though he wasn't as influential in the magical world as Nicolas Flamel, he was still a well-known alchemist throughout Europe.
Nico smiled, and without further pleasantries, he simply asked.
"Can you take me to the site now? I learned from the liaison that the news about Good Luck Spring is also related to the underground ruins you discovered?"
“Yes! We haven’t completely figured out what’s underground yet. It’s a bit complicated. Come with me, I’ll take you to the site.”
It was only then that Cabunara noticed Black squatting next to Nico, and his expression was somewhat surprised.
"Is this your pet?"
“Its name is Blake,” Nico said with a smile. “It follows me everywhere I go.”
Cabunara didn't think much of it; there were plenty of people and dogs named Blake in the world.
Kabunara, with Nikolai using Apparition, returned to the fir tree, where the Albanian Aurors had further tightened their blockade.
In recent days, many wizards have ventured into the forest to explore this sealed-off area. Some conspiracy theorists even suspect that the Albanian Ministry of Magic has secretly found the Fountain of Good Fortune, but has kept the news hidden.
During this time, the Aurors discovered and drove away many of the more audacious intruders.
After arriving here with Nico, Cabunara did not linger and immediately began to delve deeper underground. However, due to Nico's physical condition, they did not move very fast, as they could not apparite underground.
This made Blake even more impatient, and he ended up running down the stone steps, arriving underground first. He wandered around the small underground plaza for a long time before Nico and Cabunara slowly followed.
"The architectural style here is somewhat similar to that of ancient Greece."
Nico saw the stone pillars that supported the ceiling.
"The mortise and tenon joints or metal pins, and the patterns, are so perfect that even if later wizards wanted to imitate them, it would be very difficult to replicate them so perfectly."
“Ancient Greece.” Cabronara was somewhat surprised by this result. “So, this place was already built before the Common Era?”
Nico didn't answer his question immediately. Instead, he continued to circle around the pillars and pulled out a magnifying glass from somewhere, studying the details on the stone walls.
"These stone pillars were indeed built before the Common Era, but this space may not have been excavated at the same time."
Blake listened with growing irritation. He simply couldn't understand when these stones had been made, or what purpose they could possibly serve.
Fortunately, although the square was large, it was also quite empty. Apart from the few pillars and the tunnel in the ceiling that the basilisk that Severus had initially discovered used to go out to hunt for food, there was nothing else there.
Cabona continued to lead the way, guiding Nico and Black to the path leading to the stone mural. After passing the indistinct stone carving, which Severus had basically identified as a chicken after encountering the basilisk, Nico stopped.
He raised the magnifying glass in his hand, and Kabunarah, standing beside him, activated an illumination spell to help him see more clearly.
Nico didn't comment on the stone sculpture; he simply put away the magnifying glass and gestured for Cabunara to continue leading the way.
They walked through the long passage and finally arrived at the stone mural, which had been cleaned up and the corpses of both the Aurors and the basilisks were gone.
Nico's face lit up with amazement the moment he saw the mural of the knight and the three witches.
"This is really true."
He murmured as he moved forward, getting completely close to the mural.
Cabunara noticed Nico's unusual behavior. Although he didn't know what had happened, he also became agitated.
"Is there something wrong with this mural, sir?"
Nico reached out his aged hand and stroked the surface of the mural, the paint that had endured countless years.
"This painting is not made of ordinary paint. Every stroke is a symbol. In the earliest days, before the concept of alchemy existed, it was simply a symbol used by wizards to understand the world and as an exchange of power!"
Cabnera's voice also began to sound excited.
What can this discovery tell us?
"Let us understand how ancient wizards perceived nature, and how they viewed alchemy and magic!" Nico shouted.
This answer took Cabunara somewhat by surprise.
"Uh, that's all?"
"These are the greatest treasures, far more valuable than that so-called Fountain of Good Fortune!"
