Chapter 196 The Golden Unicorn
Chapter 196 The Golden Unicorn
"What is that!" Harry exclaimed.
Lupin narrowed his eyes; he could tell that the place where this thing appeared was the place Severus was looking for.
Even Draco forgot to complain, watching as the silver light slowly dissipated after shining into the sky.
Soon, Draco was the first to arrive, full of excitement.
Something big has definitely happened! We're about to be drawn into an adventure!
Lupin, however, was not as happy as him.
“We need to go back and meet up with Andrews first. If something happens, we can only be safe if we are all together.”
His words made Draco purse his lips again. He had always thought Lupin was timid and cowardly, and no matter how you looked at him, he didn't seem like a Gryffindor graduate.
Just as Lupin and his companions saw the silver light...
Elsewhere in this forest, whether they came for adventure, to seek herbs, or, like Andrews, to study the habits of some magical creature, all saw the scene of silver light shining in the sky.
Many wizards were extremely surprised, and a research expert with a camera even took a picture of the scene.
And just as the wizard with the camera was examining the photos he had just taken...
Suddenly, he felt something moving behind him. He turned around abruptly and discovered an extremely tall creature!
That was a unicorn!
But unlike other unicorns, this unicorn doesn't have snow-white fur; instead, it has pale gold fur!
Even its long horns seemed to be made of gold, reflecting a dazzling golden light under the sun.
This left the wizard completely stunned!
Those who come to explore this forest are naturally Albanian or local wizards, who have heard the legend of the Fountain of Good Fortune hidden in a certain forest since childhood.
If the Fountain of Good Fortune appears, a golden unicorn will appear and guide people to eventually find the fountain!
After standing there stunned for a good three or four seconds, the wizard suddenly came to his senses and subconsciously pressed the shutter button on the camera he was holding.
Whether it was the sound of the shutter being pressed that startled it, or it only then realized there was someone beside it, the golden unicorn suddenly ran off into the distance and disappeared in the blink of an eye.
"Don't run! Come back!"
The wizard belatedly realized just how much of an opportunity he had missed!
He shouted, trying to call the runaway unicorn back, but no matter how much he called, he received no response.
After a period of regret and annoyance, the wizard looked at his camera again, confirming that the unicorn he had just seen was not his imagination, but a real creature that had appeared before him and been photographed. Only then did he loudly use Apparition to leave the forest.
Meanwhile, in the land sealed off by the Albanian Aurors, Severus and Cabnala returned to the surface from underground.
This underground adventure basically helped them figure out what kind of strange things this land had to offer.
"So, all the animals on this hill died because they saw the eyes of that basilisk?" Cabunara helped Severus bring out the petrified witch ghost.
"Something else must have happened that we don't know about. If that basilisk killed a large number of animals every time it came out to hunt, its existence should have been discovered long ago."
"There's also the unusual activity of the fire dragons. If the unusual activity that occurred in the protected area before could be attributed to the snake monster going out and making the fire dragons sense something, then what made the dragons go berserk later was definitely not that snake monster."
Cabnala also deeply agreed with Severus's words.
"We'll continue our investigation. What are you going to do next?"
Severus had by then taken the petrified banshee ghost from his hands.
“I also need to find some things. This ghost might know something. I’ll try to concoct a potion to restore it.” Severus was obviously aware of what Cabunara was thinking. “Don’t worry, I’ll let you know as soon as there’s any news or gains.”
Cabunara excitedly grasped his hand.
"Thank you for your generous contribution. In any case, after everything is settled, I will report to the ministry what you have done for Albania, and we will express our gratitude."
"No need for further thanks. It's not convenient for me to go back to England from here right now. If you have any connections, could you introduce me to a herbalist? I'd like to buy some mandrake juice."
Upon hearing Severus's request, Cabunara did not hesitate at all. He asked his subordinate for paper and pen and then wrote down an address.
“Look for Berisha; he’s Albania’s biggest herbalist and also my uncle. I’ll write him a letter beforehand to ensure you get the best price on any herbs you buy from him!”
After obtaining the address from Cabona, Severus bid them farewell and returned to the troll camp.
When he returned, Lupin and Harry naturally returned as well. The trolls were uneasy about the silver light that had just appeared, and Lulu was comforting her kin.
Andrews and the others gathered together to discuss what had happened in the east, and it wasn't until they saw Severus return that they began to question him.
They all guessed that this matter must be related to Severus, and Severus did not hide anything. He told them about his encounter with the Albanian Aurors underground.
This kind of adventure filled Harry and Draco with longing.
"A basilisk? What does it look like?"
"If you take us with you, we definitely won't be a burden like those Albanian Aurors!" "Will you go back to that underground chamber later, teacher? Can we come with you? There's no threat there anymore, right?"
“The Malfoy family is blessed with good fortune. If you take me with you, we’re sure to find the legendary Fountain of Good Fortune!”
They chattered around Severus, one after another, making him dizzy with noise.
“Stop daydreaming,” Severus said. “It’s too dangerous there. You should stick with Lupin.”
His words greatly disappointed both Harry and Draco.
Severus simply returned to let them know he was safe, and then planned to Apparate away to the herbalist that Albanian Cabunara had introduced him to, to buy mandrake juice.
After instructing Lupin to keep an eye on Harry and Draco and prevent the two mischievous monkeys from running around, Severus left the forest and arrived at the wizarding commercial district of Albania.
This street was certainly not as big as Diagon Alley in England, but it was small but complete. He quickly found the herbalist at the address provided by Cabunara and successfully bought the mature mandrake juice.
Just as Severus was about to leave after buying what he needed, he noticed a large number of owls flying towards shops and wizards' houses, clutching rolls of newspapers.
Those are the newspaper's owls. They deliver today's newspaper to wizards who are interested in subscribing. Once the wizard decides to buy, they put the money for the newspaper in a small bag and hand it to the owl, thus completing the transaction.
But this time is clearly not the normal time for selling newspapers.
One of the wizards who got the newspaper exclaimed in surprise after seeing the headline!
"A golden unicorn! My God! It actually exists!"
"The Fountain of Good Fortune isn't just a legend! If a golden unicorn has appeared, it must exist!"
"No wonder the Explorer's Daily suddenly issued an extra edition. I wonder if the wizard who took this picture found the legendary spring after encountering the golden unicorn."
Hearing the growing murmurs around him, Severus frowned slightly. He reached out and stopped an owl that was about to fly away after failing to sell its newspaper. He took a few copper nut from his pocket, put them into the pouch under its claws, and took the newspaper from its paws.
Severus then saw the extra edition published today by Albania's largest newspaper, The Explorer.
A wizard studying Bandimon in the Logara Magical Creatures Reserve saw a strange silver light illuminate the sky in the forest.
He photographed the silvery light and then discovered the legendary golden unicorn that could lead people to the Fountain of Good Fortune!
The newspaper only stated that he pressed the shutter at the time, but it didn't mention whether he followed the unicorn afterward or eventually found the legendary Fountain of Good Fortune.
This news caused a sensation among Albanian sorcerers.
Any wizard who has lived in this country since childhood knows the legend of the Fountain of Good Fortune, and also knows the wave that once swept through Albania, drawing wizards from several neighboring countries to search for the Fountain of Good Fortune.
However, after that wave subsided, many wizards thought that the legend was just a legend after all. Putting aside whether the Fountain of Good Fortune actually existed, even if it did exist, it might not be in Albania.
But today's news has reignited the enthusiasm of these Albanian wizards.
They began to discuss excitedly whether the golden unicorn in the forest could really guide the wizard to the legendary Fountain of Good Fortune.
Many people have even started calling on their friends and family to prepare for an adventure in Logara.
Severus held the newspaper, looking thoughtful.
He felt that these things couldn't possibly have just happened by chance. The appearance of the golden unicorn must be related to the silver light that he and Cabunara released when they went deep into the place behind the mural.
According to the newspaper report, the wizard who photographed the golden unicorn discovered it only after seeing the silver light in the sky.
Severus had a feeling that the appearance of that unicorn was directly related to their experience underground!
Thinking of this, he couldn't help but take out the silver whistle he had dug out from the ground from his pocket.
If the unicorn that appeared in the forest is related to the underground chamber, then what is the use of this silver whistle?
After thinking for a while without coming up with a solution, Severus didn't linger. He Apparated back into the forest. No matter what news was circulating or what was happening outside, he had to first brew the Mandela Resurrection Potion and then revive the banshee ghost.
Brewing this resurrection potion is not a simple task; it takes some time.
Harry and Draco have been behaving themselves these past few days. Even though news from the outside world has reached them, and two or three wizards who came to explore the forest in search of the golden unicorn and the Fountain of Good Fortune accidentally stumbled into the troll camp and brought back news about the unicorn, neither of them had any intention of sneaking out.
To be precise, Draco was eager to sneak out, but Harry was much more conservative than before and was unwilling to go out with Draco.
Harry didn't want to go, and even though Draco kept scoffing at him, he reluctantly gave up the idea.
Two more days passed in the troll camp. During these two days, more and more wizards began to appear in the forest. Many of them were attracted by the troll group organized by Andrews and came to visit while exploring the forest.
Furthermore, these sorcerers are no longer limited to Albania; sorcerers from neighboring countries such as Greece, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Bulgaria, and Serbia have also received the news.
A wave of searching for the Fountain of Good Fortune, which had been extinguished decades ago, has been reignited. Among those who have come to the Logara Forest are some old wizards who participated in the first adventure to find the Fountain of Good Fortune.
Two days later, Severus finally completed the Mandela resurrection potion.
"How are you going to feed it? Ghosts can't use normal human food or medicine." Lupin asked, puzzled, as he saw Severus approaching the petrified banshee ghost with the prepared potion.
Severus simply instructed Harry and Draco, who were working as waiters nearby, to help straighten the body of the banshee whose face was frozen in terror, before answering Lupin's question.
“Normally, ghosts cannot come into contact with real things, but after being petrified by the basilisk, their bodies are solidified. As long as they are solid, it’s easy to deal with them. This potion doesn’t necessarily have to be drunk to be effective.”
As he spoke, Severus had already uncorked the potion bottle and poured the resurrection potion over the banshee ghost's head.
