Chapter 151 Two Aspects of Problem Solving

Chapter 151 Two Aspects of Problem Solving

"Let's put the solution aside for now!"

Nicole looked at Severus with shining eyes, as if she had seen some rare treasure.

"How were you admitted to Hogwarts in the first place? Or rather, what magical signs appeared on you?"

Grindelwald's gaze became even more intense.

He hadn't shown any such emotions when his old men came to him, but after discovering the discrepancies between Severus's soul and body, he was clearly completely captivated!

“It was just a very ordinary omen,” Severus recalled. “When I was a child, I was afraid my dad would beat me, so I climbed onto the roof chimney. I accidentally fell down the chimney, but in an instant I was back on the roof. That’s when my mom knew I was a wizard.”

He recounted Snape's personal experience.

This surprised Nico even more.

“Unbelievable! If some people in St. Mungo’s knew what happened to you, they would beg you to come with them to the hospital’s lab. There are many people there researching how to solve the problem of duds. To them, you are a living miracle!”

“This should be the only case in the entire history of magic,” Grindelwald said. “I spent three to five years researching how wizards came to be and delving into the existence of Squibs. In the entire recorded history of the wizarding world, there has never been a Squib who has escaped the curse of being unable to cast spells. He is the first and only case!”

Hearing him speak, Severus couldn't help but feel a little puzzled.

"Why have you also studied this kind of thing?"

Grindelwald simply said coldly.

"Because there are many ways to break the Secrets Act, one way is to make all of magic public without changing the existing situation between wizards and Muggles."

“Investigating the origins of wizards and spreading magical genes to all of humanity, the idea that there is no barrier between wizards and Muggles, and that there are only two groups in the world: wizards and Squibs, is also a direction.”

"If magic can appear in anyone's body on a large scale, then the Secret Law will fall apart, and whoever possesses more magical knowledge will have the power to rule the world!"

His words startled Nicolas Flamel, as if he had never imagined that anyone in the world could have such a thought.

Grindelwald chuckled at his reaction.

“Surprised? This idea wasn’t just mine; it was also your close friend Albus Dumbledore.”

"Not only that, we also fantasized about using a special kind of magic to divide the world into two completely identical sides: one side where people with spellcasting abilities live, and the other side where people without spellcasting abilities live."

Nico shuddered and couldn't help but shake his head.

"Impossible! Neither of these ideas is realistic. Neither spreading magical genes to all of humanity nor is separating spaces something that magic can do!"

"Having been a great alchemist for so long, you should understand this principle better than any wizard."

Grindelwald stared at him indifferently.

"If you don't even dare to think about it, then you absolutely can't do it. For most magic, many times, those miracles are just a matter of having an idea."

“But haven’t you let it all go now?” Nico continued to shake his head. “That was because of an accident, the death of a person, which caused Albus to betray our original intentions and turn against me.”

Grindelwald scoffed; he was mocking himself.

"We actually set our goal from the beginning. No matter how we achieve our ideals, power is indispensable. So we set our first goal as finding the three Deathly Hallows. After mastering the power of Death, we will then carry out our next plan."

"If that accident had had a different outcome, and Albus hadn't broken ties with me, do you think we wouldn't have had a chance to succeed?"

Nico avoided Grindelwald's question, even avoiding eye contact with him, and instead changed the subject, looking at Severus and talking about his request.

“You were supposed to be a Squib who couldn’t cast spells, but now you’ve become a powerful wizard. Isn’t that enough?”

Severus shook his head decisively.

“It’s not a matter of enough or not enough. Every time I cast a spell, I can feel the difference between magic and spirit. This feeling is not good. I definitely want to pursue something better.”

"Moreover, if there is a way to solve this problem, becoming stronger is something I would certainly like to see."

Nico frowned. He wasn't worried about Severus's refusal to listen to advice, but rather he had begun to seriously consider how to solve Severus's problem.

"The root cause of the problem is that your soul strength exceeds the original strength of your magic, which is why this sense of incongruity occurs when casting spells. If you want to solve it, you must address both your soul and your magic."

"As for the soul, if the soul is too strong, then we should try to find ways to weaken it. This should be the easiest way."

As he guided the small silver snake named Abel back into his hand, Nico stroked his chin thoughtfully.

"While magic targeting the soul is rare, it does exist, but almost all of those spells have significant side effects."

Severus immediately understood what Nico was talking about.

The most typical example of magic that weakens the soul is creating Horcruxes.
Voldemort's trump card was to divide his soul into pieces and store them in different containers in order to achieve immortality.

But the consequences of doing so are already quite clear.

It's not that he doesn't have a nose; that's a negative effect that occurred after Voldemort's resurrection. Rather, it's the splitting of the soul that subtly influences a person's thoughts!

It can unknowingly make people with split personalities become extreme, crazy, and mentally deranged.

This was clearly unacceptable to Severus!
Even if he doesn't solve his spellcasting problem, and his life is pretty much set in stone, he's not going to end up looking like that.

“No!” Severus objected. “I can’t accept such side effects; weakening the soul is unacceptable.”

Nicole seemed to have guessed his answer: many people simply couldn't bear such a price.

"If you don't consider the soul aspect, then the only way is to try to find a solution from the perspective of magic."
