Chapter 126 Logical Thinking

Chapter 126 Logical Thinking
"To be honest, it's a little strange to see you so gloomy right now."

In their bedroom, Harry looked at Draco, who hadn't said much all morning since returning, and said while peeling an apple.

"So what do you want me to do? You just want me to curse you?" Draco suddenly shouted.

Harry shrugged.

"You can do that, but I can't guarantee I won't beat you up."

"That Muggle is so stupid! That man clearly lied to her about the Squib! And she still believed him! Fool! Idiot! Moron!"

Draco started cursing and snatched the freshly peeled apple from Harry's hand.

Harry raised an eyebrow, about to snatch it back, when Draco had already taken a bite of the apple.

“Okay, okay.” Harry sat back down and chose to eat his banana. “I’ve figured it out now. According to the teacher, you’re not actually blind to the truth, it’s just that the truth isn’t what you want to believe.”

"That's not true at all!" Draco stubbornly insisted.

"What is the truth? Do you want the French Minister of Magic to tell you himself? Those Aurors went to Rosier's house to look for Patrick's biological parents."

"how do you know?"

“Isabel told me,” Harry said casually.

“Isabel?” Draco raised his voice. “Who is she?”

"The witch guarding the cell, she just graduated from Beauxbatons this year and is currently undergoing pre-Auror training. In her spare time, she does some easy and safe work."

Harry reopened the spellbook, still chewing something, and mumbled incoherently.

“She said Patrick is actually quite pitiful. Not only was he abandoned by his parents, but this time the murderer also used a lot of Confusion and Oblivion Charms on him. Although the Aurors can help him remove most of the spells, he is not a wizard after all, so his brain will definitely be affected, and it may even affect his life in the future.”

Even if Draco were stubborn as ever, he couldn't say anything at this point. He was just sulking, viciously biting into the apple in his hand, as if venting all the inexplicable anger that had ignited from nowhere onto it.

Around lunchtime, Severus and Lupin returned.

They went to Harry and his partner's bedroom, where the four of them had lunch together.

Harry was delighted to see them return and told them about what had happened to him and Draco that morning.

"Patrick is really pitiful. It feels like he's never had any luck since he was born."

Harry sighed.

Severus was deep in thought and didn't speak, while Lupin shook his head and said...

"His greatest fortune is meeting his wife, which is far more important to him than anything he had lost before. That's why he was so eager to ask you to help him apologize to his wife after meeting you."

“You said Rozier was adopted from a Parisian monastery?” Severus suddenly asked.

Harry nodded, a little puzzled.

"He told me this himself."

At this moment, Lupin also realized what was happening, and he turned to look at Severus.

"Is it the one we went to this morning?"

"It must be an orphanage that specializes in taking in Squibs, so it must be right."

Severus nodded, and said thoughtfully.

"What I'm more interested in is whether Rozier himself knew that the orphanage he had always lived in was specifically for people like him."

"What's the point of knowing this?" Lupin asked, puzzled.

Severus pointed to his head.

"He was subjected to numerous forgetting and confusion spells. In some respects, especially for those who are proficient in them, these spells can completely replace the effect of Legilimency in order to peer into the memories of others. However, this method is more brutal, causes more harm to the cursed person, and yields less information."

"Rozier's memory has clearly been wiped clean, which is why he made so many mistakes during his inexplicable trip to Edinburgh. His mind has been damaged beyond repair by the spell."

"With such a level of forgetting spell applied, the murderers must have a clear memory of him. If these people only wanted the location of the apartment rented by the Rozier couple, why would they need to use so many forgetting spells? The only possibility is that they don't know how to legate, but they still want to get something from a Squib's head. And what could they possibly get? Rozier's identity?"

"The identity of a pureblood Squib?" Lupin's breathing subconsciously became lighter.

“These are the two most unique aspects of this young man. His encounter with this incident must be related to these two things. But if the murderer was interested not only in his place of residence, but also in his identity as a pureblood Squib, and if he learned from him that there was a monastery in Paris that specifically takes in pureblood Squibs, would the murderer still have taken action?”

“This is a crucial suspicion!” Lupin asserted. “We must remind Yuma and have him prepare in advance!”

At this point, he couldn't help but stare at Severus.

“When I was at Hogwarts, I never realized you had such a sharp detective mind!” “That’s called logical thinking, an ability that anyone who has received a Muggle education in natural sciences should possess,” Severus said calmly. “At my father’s insistence, I attended a Muggle primary school and have never given up on cultivating that ability since then, which is the source of my Potions talent.”

Lupin exclaimed in amazement.

"Did your father have foreseen all of this long ago?"

“No, he’s an alcoholic and abusive. My mother hid her wizarding identity from him while she was with him. When he found out the truth, he was furious and forced me into Muggle school even though I had shown wizarding talent at a young age,” Severus said calmly.

Lupin felt somewhat uneasy and apologized.

"I'm sorry to have brought up these things in front of the children."

“It’s nothing,” Severus smiled. “Those painful memories of the past, once you truly choose to forgive and accept them, they are no longer something to be ashamed of, because the past didn’t defeat us, but made us stronger, right?”

As he said this, he looked at Harry, who raised his head and said loudly.

"Of course!"

Lupin's lips curled into a smile again.

"you're right."

Draco didn't say anything; he just lowered his head and quietly pursed his lips, expressing his dissatisfaction with Severus's praise of Muggle education.

After lunch, they found Yuma again.

When they met, Yuma brought good news.

"It's confirmed! That man is Shafik! We contacted the German Ministry of Magic; they arrested this bastard before and have a lot of information about him. By comparing the information sent from Germany, we've confirmed it's him!"

"The moment we identified him, the department relayed the news to Auror, who was out searching for him. Just now, we received word from Lyon that they've discovered some clues related to that bastard at a farm in the countryside! Do you want to come along?"

Upon receiving this news, Severus was not as excited as Yuma had imagined. Instead, he narrowed his eyes and placed his hand on the African wizard's shoulder.

"You just confirmed Shafik's identity from Germany, and he immediately gave himself away, sending Aurors to Lyon to find him?"

Yuma paused for a moment.

Immediately, as if doused with cold water, she calmed down after hearing the question.

"This is too much of a coincidence, but it's the only clue we can keep investigating!"

“It is precisely because this is the only clue that many Aurors in Paris will rush over there!” Lupin had clearly thought of the same thing as Severus at this moment.

"After you left, there were almost no guards here. If something happens in Paris again, will it really be in time to come back?"

Yuma swallowed hard, looking at Severus and the other man.

What's going to happen in Paris?

"How many Aurors have already left?" Severus strode towards the fireplace. There were restrictions within the French Ministry of Magic that prevented the use of Apparition.

Yuma quickened her pace and followed behind him.

"Apart from the three regular garrison units within the department, everyone else has been deployed to Lyon!"

Where are your men?

"My men haven't moved yet; they're waiting for me."

"Then gather your men together, and send one of them to find Girard and give her a heads-up. Tell her that if Lyon can't capture the person immediately, send a group of Aurors back to us right away!"

Yuma stopped in front of the fireplace at the Ministry of Magic, watching Severus and Lupin pick up Floo Powder and prepare to sprinkle it into the flames.

Where are you going now?

“Go to the monastery we visited this morning.” Before stepping into the flames, Severus left him with his last words, “The Shafiq gang may not have achieved their goal after kidnapping the Lemaîtres.”

After he finished speaking, Severus and Lupin had already disappeared into the green flame.

Yuma frowned, quickly pulled out a note from his pocket, wrote a message to summon his men, and then beckoned to the shadows by the wall.

A nimble black cat silently and gracefully leaped out of the darkness and snatched the note from Yuma's hand.

"Auror Command Group 7 office, hand it over to Philip Dimon."

After hearing the exact address, the black cat leaped and bounded back into the shadows, disappearing from sight.

Yuma didn't linger; he quickly walked towards Gilar's office.

He had to personally report the messages Severus had asked him to convey!
