Chapter 209 Human Wedding

After leaving the elf village, Lord and Celie's journey continues.

They continued their aimless way, occasionally straying from the main road into unknown but unique valleys, where they would stay for several days.

Volame's reply has been received, which states that they have increased their vigilance and will continue searching for the elves' village as planned.

Even Lord himself did not expect that his unintentional move of letting Volame meet the other party's elf apprentice in advance would accidentally lead to the discovery of the demons' conspiracy.

It is also fate's arrangement.

In the following days, since the remaining space magic did not seem to be triggered at all, the two of them temporarily put aside their worries about their disciples.

One afternoon, they followed the main road and came to a human town.

Before entering the city, I could hear melodious orchestral music and the cheers of the crowd from afar.

"It's a bit too noisy." Celie frowned slightly, looking at the crowd at the city gate with some displeasure.

She prefers a quieter environment and is instinctively repelled by overly noisy places.

"Looks like they're having a celebration?" Lord observed with interest. "Let's go in and take a look? Just think of it as replenishing supplies and seeing if there are any delicious delicacies, like that pie we saw earlier."

He remembered that Celie had a favorable opinion of this simple human food.

Although Miss Elf seems to prefer eating her own grilled mushroom skewers, she can't eat them every day.

Although Celie herself didn't seem to have any objections, Lord himself couldn't stand it.

A healthy life is about combining meat and vegetables.

Although it always feels a bit wrong to discuss healthy living in the magical world, after all, the sacred magic of this world has developed to the point where severed limbs can be regenerated.

Such a trivial matter as nutritional imbalance is not something that should be brought to the table.

But for now, it is more important to satisfy the appetite.

The two followed the crowd into the town.

In the center of the town, the windows and balconies of the houses on both sides were crowded with onlookers, and the main street was cleared and covered with a brand new red carpet.

At the end of the red carpet is a small church with a pointed roof. Its doors are now open and melodious singing can be heard floating out from inside.

"It's a wedding," Lord quickly concluded from the excited chatter around them. "It's a human union ceremony."

Celie looked at the small church, then at the excited crowds on both sides of the street who were throwing flower petals, with a hint of pure confusion in her eyes.

"I can't understand it. So many people and so much resources were spent just to announce the union of two people? Human preferences are really strange."

Throughout her long life, elves' unions usually took place in the quiet and private forests, never attracting so many onlookers.

"Um, I feel like you seem to have misunderstood something. It's just a simple ceremony to tell everyone that the two of them are going to be together."

“I still don’t understand.”

Lord smiled, his eyes sweeping across the faces. "Perhaps, for them, this isn't just a ceremony, but also a way to share joy, accept everyone's blessings, and spread this happiness." He pointed to the church entrance. "Look, there should be their relatives and friends there."

Just then, the church bells rang loudly.

The crowd cheered even louder.

The church door was wide open, and a newlywed couple in their best attire walked out slowly, surrounded by their relatives and friends.

The groom was dressed in a black tuxedo. While Celia had never seen such a form-fitting black tuxedo before, she had seen similar ones, so she didn't find it too strange. As for the bride…

Celia's attention was instantly attracted.

The bride wore a pure white wedding dress.

It was a kind of clothing that Celie had never seen before, but it was extremely complicated and gorgeous.

Layers of lace accentuated her slender waist; the wide skirt shimmered like pearls in the sunlight.

The veil covered the bride's bunted hair, and the edges were decorated with crystals, reflecting tiny rays of light as the bride walked.

She had a shy but bright smile on her face. Celie had never seen such a smile before. It was very beautiful, as beautiful as a blooming flower of life.

Lord's gaze involuntarily fell on the bride, simply admiring the most beautiful moment belonging to a human girl.

Looking at the pure white wedding dress that symbolizes the vow, an idea suddenly popped up without warning.

He turned his head and looked at the elf lady beside him. He subconsciously said, "Celiai," with a hint of amusement in his voice, "I'm suddenly curious, what would you look like if you put on this dress?"

Celie was concentrating on gazing at the bride's wide dress, which she thought was beautiful but totally inconvenient for movement. Upon hearing this, she turned her head and looked at Lord.

There was a flash of surprise in his eyes, and then it turned into a look as if he was looking at an idiot.

"Me?" She pointed at herself, then at the bride who was moving so cautiously that she even needed the bridesmaid's help to hold up her skirt, her tone full of disgust.

"Impossible! This dress, aside from looking pretty, is useless for anything else. Furthermore, it looks like it's made of just ordinary cloth. A simple fire spell would turn it to ashes." She paused, then concluded, "It's completely impractical."

Lord was amused by Celie's series of comments based on the battle mage's perspective.

He imagined Celie wearing a gorgeous wedding dress, but she was talking seriously about how the wide skirt made it inconvenient for her to dodge, and even how the wedding dress on her head would block her vision.

That picture is so contrasting.

"Ahem," Lord suppressed his laughter, his eyes filled with unquestionable anticipation, "but I want to see it."

These five simple words seem to carry some kind of magic.

Celie was about to continue commenting on the uselessness of the wedding dress when the words got stuck in her throat.

She looked at the undisguised expectation in Lord's deep eyes, and her heart seemed to be gently bumped by something and skipped a beat.

She was silent.

Time seemed to pause for a few seconds amidst the noisy background music of the wedding.

Celie lowered her eyes, and the strands of hair on her head cast a small shadow on her fair cheek.

She seemed to be thinking very seriously.

Weighing the inconvenience of wearing this suit in combat with
The proportion of satisfying Lord's boring wish.

Finally, she seemed to have made up her mind and raised her head again. Although the disgust in her eyes had not completely disappeared, there was a hint of indescribable compromise?

She avoided Lord's sight, looked elsewhere, and said in a calm tone:

"...If you really want to see it," she paused, as if making a difficult decision, "it's not impossible."

The smile on Lord's face deepened instantly, almost overflowing.
