Chapter 167 Smells of Perfume
At the dinner table, Zhang Muchen and Chu Youting sat side by side.

Xiao Youzi was looking down, diligently working on a math test. Zhang Muchen was also looking down, working on the same set of problems.

The room was quiet except for the scratching sound of a ballpoint pen on paper.

Bubbles in the sunlight are colorful.

The WeChat ringtone suddenly broke the silence.

Zhang Muchen glanced at his phone screen; it was a call from Liu Wuyang.

"Hey, Yang..."

"Zhang Muchen, my parents are almost here. Hurry up and change your clothes, don't wear your pajamas!"

Liu Wuyang's flustered voice came through the microphone, which also made Chu Youting, who was doing her homework with her head down, look up curiously.

Zhang Muchen glanced down at her hoodie and jeans and replied helplessly, "Sister Yang, I'm wearing normal clothes."

"I'm on my way back." Liu Wuyang's voice became increasingly tense. "If my parents see you as soon as they walk in the door, don't say anything out of the ordinary, understand?"

"Don't worry, Sister Yang, I'm just a high school student who gets tutoring at your house."

Liu Wuyang didn't say anything more on the other end of the line, and then hung up. But Zhang Muchen could tell she was really anxious. She was probably already on her way home at top speed.

Oh no, the little pomelo is still here.

He turned to look at Chu Youting, who was staring at him with curiosity.

"Is Teacher Liu... coming back?" she asked softly.

Zhang Muchen nodded: "Yes, and her parents are coming."

He had barely finished speaking when he quickly stood up: "Let's go, Little Yuzu. It's not appropriate for us to stay here. Let's go home."

Although it wasn't a big deal that Liu Wuyang's parents saw him with Xiaoyouzi, it could be explained as two high school students going to tutoring.

However, if the news reaches Liu Wuyang's ears and Xiaoyouzi is also there, then things will change.

After all, she had already warned them not to bring anyone else to the house.

But she still brought Xiaoyouzi along, and Liu Wuyang knew perfectly well that Xiaoyouzi was Chu Jiuli's younger sister.

It's hard for a jealous person not to overthink things when they're alone in a room with such a pretty girl.

So, we need to get out of here quickly!

Without hesitation, Zhang Muchen turned around and beckoned Xiaoyouzi to leave.

Chu Youting blinked, not quite understanding what was going on. But she still obediently followed behind Zhang Muchen, silently heading towards the entrance.

However, before they even reached the entrance hall, they suddenly heard the sound of a key being inserted into the lock and turned.
"Click——"

The door was pushed open, and a gust of cold wind from the corridor rushed in, causing the curtains inside to flutter slightly.

Zhang Muchen and Chu Youting remained where they were.

Two figures appeared at the doorway, their gazes meeting directly.

They were a middle-aged couple.

The man was tall and slender, wearing a dark gray trench coat, and dragging a black suitcase.

He wore gold-rimmed glasses, and his eyes were bright and composed. Although there were quite a few gray hairs at his temples, he exuded a sense of competence.

The woman had permed hair, was slightly plump, and dressed appropriately.

She wore stiletto heels and a light beige trench coat, carrying a bag of fresh vegetables in one hand. At first glance, she exuded the air of a woman with profound inner qualities.

A brief silence hung in the air.

Seeing this, Zhang Muchen took the first step forward, a polite smile on his face: "Hello, uncles and aunts, we are students here for tutoring."

"Students?" The man frowned slightly, glancing at them, clearly surprised by the two young people who had suddenly appeared in his home.

“Yuanshan, I understand. They must be students of Wuyang.” The woman standing next to him seemed to understand something and smiled at her husband.

"Have you forgotten? Wu Yang worked as a teacher for a while after returning to China. Those two should be her students."

As she spoke, she gently placed the bag of vegetables in her hand on the ground.

"Hello, I am Wu Yang's mother, Song Yiran. This is her father, Liu Yuanshan."

Chu Youting bowed slightly, a little nervous, her voice soft: "Uncle and Aunt... hello." Song Yiran walked into the living room, her gaze lingering on the two young people, a gentle smile on her lips: "Am I right? You two are students taught by Wu Yang, aren't you?"

“Auntie, you’re right, we are Teacher Liu’s students,” Zhang Muchen replied.

Liu Yuanshan followed slowly behind, carrying his suitcase. He walked unhurriedly, his eyes constantly shifting between Zhang Muchen and Chu Youting.

As he passed Zhang Muchen, he suddenly stopped and glanced at him sideways: "Excuse me... are you wearing perfume?"

Zhang Muchen nodded subconsciously: "Yes, Uncle."

Liu Yuanshan nodded slightly, his tone indifferent: "Nuanxiang, you have good taste."

After saying this, he looked away and dragged his suitcase toward the bedroom.

In the living room, Song Yiran turned her gaze to Zhang Muchen: "Classmate, what's your name?"

"Auntie, my surname is Zhang, and my name is Zhang Muchen. Her name is Chu Youting." Zhang Muchen then introduced the reserved little girl next to her as well.

Song Yiran's gaze fell on Chu Youting, and her eyes lingered on her for a few more seconds without her noticing.

The girl had fair skin, delicate features, and clear, bright eyes; she looked like a painting standing in the sunlight.

"So beautiful," Song Yiran thought to herself.

"You two, don't leave at noon. I bought some groceries, let's have lunch together," she invited with a smile.

Zhang Muchen glanced at the clock on the wall and his heart tightened.

This is bad; if this drags on any longer, Sister Yang will be coming back.

He quickly smiled and declined, saying, "Thank you for your kindness, Auntie, but we have lunch plans with classmates, so we won't bother you."

"Oh, I see. Then I won't try to keep you here." Song Yiran nodded, still as friendly as ever. "Your uncle and I just got back from the United States and will be staying for a while longer. Come visit us anytime you have time."

"Okay, Auntie."

Without wasting a second, Zhang Muchen quickly led Xiaoyouzi to the entrance to change her shoes.

After the two of them put on their shoes, they waved to Song Yiran and left.

Song Yiran watched the two figures leave, then picked up the vegetable bag and went into the kitchen to start washing vegetables.

The tap was running, and Liu Yuanshan's voice came from the bedroom: "Teacher Song, have those two children left?"

Song Yiran turned off the tap, wiped her hands, and came out of the kitchen: "Just left."

Liu Yuanshan frowned as he walked out of the bedroom.

Song Yiran noticed her husband's unusual expression at a glance and asked softly, "Teacher Liu, what's wrong?"

"Come and take a look." Liu Yuanshan beckoned.

Song Yiran walked into the bedroom and immediately saw that the bed was made neatly and without any mess.

"Wow, when did our daughter learn to fold the blankets so neatly?"

Liu Yuanshan didn't reply, but pointed to the headboard: "Look at this dress."

Following his gaze, Song Yiran saw a men's pajama set folded on the bedside table.

“This is… the men’s version.” She paused slightly.

Liu Yuanshan: "Why do you think there would be men's pajamas in this bedroom?"

Song Yiran paused for a few seconds, then her eyes lit up and a look of surprise appeared on her lips: "You mean Wu Yang brought a boy home? Oh my, this child has really grown up."

“I’m afraid it’s not a boy.” Liu Yuanshan shook his head. “It’s a boy.”

"Huh?" Song Yiran was stunned.

Liu Yuanshan picked up the pajamas and gave them a slight shake, causing the air to circulate.

A faint scent of perfume wafted from the pajamas.

The smell was exactly the same as the one on Zhang Muchen.

Song Yiran was stunned.
